Mercury & Mars Link Up with Uranus & Neptune

Change Your Mind by davespertineWeeks ago on September 15, when Saturn opposed Uranus, we were urged to shed the old and embrace the new. On October 4, the subject matter of release and change are revisited when Mercury (mind) and Mars (drive) harmonize while both link up with Uranus (awakening) and Neptune (insight).

This time the message is more specific -- we are to awaken the self to its own thought process. Decision, actions, and motivation are all seeded by thought and ideas. Whether we believe we can do something, achieve success, embark on a new project or think we can't be successful, that what we desire is impossible, that we have no support -- all of these begin in the mind.

What thoughts do we choose to entertain? What ideas do we opt to believe in? What plans do we pick are probable or improbable? Hmmm...

Does our thought process require renewal or adjustment? Are we our biggest obstacle, keeping us from that which we desire? Be awakened (Uranus) and enlightened (Neptune) to what truly motivates (Mars) us and adjust the way we think (Mercury) about them. Elsewhere in the sky, Venus (relationships/self-worth) in analytical Virgo is fatefully at odds with Jupiter (expansiveness) in forward-thinking Aquarius. Examine ... without mental boundaries. Free the mind of what binds and welcome clarity.

This celestial get together occurs at 24 degrees of Virgo (Mercury), Pisces (Uranus), Cancer (Mars), and Aquarius (Neptune). Those born with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 24 degrees of these four zodiac signs may be influenced stronger than most. Mercury was last at 24 degrees in Virgo on August 20 and September 24. Events or situations from on or around these dates may resurface now seeking resolution or perhaps just a reflection.

For me, this gathering falls in my natal 12th house while transiting Mercury, Uranus, and Neptune touch my natal Mercury and natal Saturn; and transiting Venus and Jupiter link up with my natal Moon. It's time to uncover what lies in the subconscious (12th house), break away from old ways (natal Saturn), get to the heart of the matter (natal Moon), and make changes beginning with how I think and communicate (natal Mercury).

The time for change is now. We remain under the auspicious umbrella of the Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune triple conjunction and the Saturn-Uranus opposition. Change is often not easy and can even be gut-wrenchingly painful but change is the only constant thing in life. Do you choose to flow with it or resist it?

Worth a mention ~ Full Moon in Aries at 2:10 a.m. Eastern (October 3 11:10 p.m. Pacific). Happenings today may be fueled by the tension created by the opposition between the Libra-Sun and Aries-Moon.

Mercury Sextile Mars ~ Sep. 30 to Oct. 4, 2009

Agua by Andy MumfordBrakes are off! Fired up! Ready to go! Ready for action?! Ensure they driven with purpose for optimum, intended results.

On September 29, Mercury stops, turns, changes directions. As he gets re-acclimated to moving forward again, Mercury (thought) will sextile Mars (action) on September 30 (Pacific time) and October 1 (Eastern time). We will remain under the umbrella of their connection until October 4 when their link perfects again which is also the same day as the Aries-Full Moon. Mercury now retraces his steps from 21 degrees of Virgo to 6 degrees of Libra for a third pass; third time is a charm, right?

Mercury is currently in Virgo, where his mind is sharp, analytical, and discriminating; and in conversation, he is friendly, chatty, and animated. Mars has been transiting Cancer since August 25. In Cancer, Mars' fiery impetuousness is stabilized in Cancer's sometimes calm waves and other times torrential waters. Decisions are usually more emotionally based and actions intuitively driven. The combination of this opportunistic link between these two planets gives the chance to put in motion what may have been put in the back burner, especially while Mercury was in retrograde. Mercury's intellectual and practical mind will give Mars pragmatism behind his actions/decision. So, let's get a move on! Make things happen!

During the timeline below, we benefit from the promises of the Mercury-Mars sextile energy (all dates reflect Eastern time zone unless otherwise noted; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • September 30 (Pacific) / October 1 (Eastern) ~ Mercury sextile Mars. Mercury & Mars quincunx Chiron. In addition to their alignment with each other, Mercury and Mars also link up and require adjustment with Chiron (wounds). We are offered the opportunity to release old wounds, including ones that mentally bind us from venturing past our comfort zone. Alternatively, we also have the chance to be of service to another and help them "heal" or repair what may be broken. Mercury returns to the same degree he was in on August 18. Perhaps what needs resolution or release may be related to issues or events on or around August 18.
  • October 2 ~ Adding to the Mercury-Mars sextile energy is the Pisces-Moon (emotional core) making successive alignments to Mercury (mind), Mars (action), Uranus (radical change), and Saturn (reality) today beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Eastern. Our heart seeks to harmony with our mental activities so we can make well-informed decisions and follow through with actions that are well-planned. Keep things light today. If there is any doubt at all, refrain from making major decisions or final actions. Before the night ends, Saturn may come to the rescue and give us the clarity we seek, as he cuts through the fog of confusion.
  • October 3 ~ Apart from the Mercury-Mars energy, the sky is relatively quiet after the Aries-Moon square Pluto very early in the morning. East coasters may wake to conflicting priorities. The need for individuality and expressing one's self with compromising and conforming what's accepted. The rest of the day, however, is appropriately quiet celestially as we await the Aries-Full Moon at 11:10 p.m. Pacific and October 4 at 2:10 a.m. Eastern.
  • October 4 ~ Still at the heels of the Aries Full-Moon, Mercury and Mars perfect their alignment again. Later in the evening after 9:00 p.m. Eastern, the Aries-Moon sextile Chiron (wounds) while Mars trine Uranus (awakening). The heart experiences healing, a renewal. Our actions and decisions reflect an awakened state of being and now, having been "awakened" we are eager to begin making the changes necessary to move forward. Mercury now retraces his steps from August 20 when he passed for the first and on September 23 when he revisited while retrograde. If there are issues on or around these two dates that were unresolved, they may resurface now to finally get some type of closure.
This Mercury-Mars sextile occurs at 22 to 24 degrees of Virgo. Those born with 5 days of March 14, June 14, September 15, and December 14; and those with natal planets/house angles on or around 22 to 24 degrees of mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius) may feel this energy more strongly than others.

Full Moon in Aries ~ October 3/4, 2009

Aries by UniquecellThe Moon becomes full in bold and pioneering Aries on October 4 at 2:10 a.m. Eastern (October 3 at 11:10 p.m. Pacific time). Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what was initiated during the previous New Moon in Virgo which, among other things, encouraged us to be of service to others.

This Full Moon in Aries highlights the balance between the self (who I am) and the shared self (who I am in a relationship); the potential of our individual selves and our partnerships; and the consideration of another's needs as they pertain to our own basic needs.

On the day the moon becomes full, Mercury (thought) in Virgo (analytical) and Mars (action) in Cancer (intuitive) harmoniously link up, while both connect with Neptune (enlightenment) and Uranus (radical change). During this full moon phase, well-planned decisions and actions, even those helped by insightful intuition, are sure to produce intended results, especially if they are representative of the Aries-Full Moon ideals. This Full Moon occurs at 11 degrees in Aries.

Those born within 3 days of October 3 or April 1; or those with natal planets/house angles on or around 11 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer, or Capricorn may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

For me, this full moon falls in my natal 7th house of partnerships and blends energies with my natal Chiron and Moon, while transiting Jupiter also harmonizes with my natal Moon. This full moon phase offers me an opportunity (Jupiter) for healing (Chiron) a broken heart (Moon) and/or a renewal with relationship-related issues (7th house), including the identity of the self (1st house) within a relationship.

How will this full moon influence your birth chart? Match the sign and degree to determine what house this full moon falls in. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the sign Aries on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation on the Full Moon transit in that house.

Mercury Direct ~ September 29, 2009

Bookmark and Share

Are you breathing a sigh of relief yet? I sure am. As a Virgo-rising, two of my angular houses are Mercury-ruled -- 1st house (who I am) and 10th house (where I am going). It never fails that a Mercury retrograde period will frustrate me with delays, miscommunication, misunderstandings, Facebook and Twitter having technical difficulties, my internet connection going down, my cable box on the fritz, the ATM machine running out of cash just as I am about to use it ... oh, wait a minute, I'm sure I'm not the only one inconvenienced by the retrograde. It must be my Aries-Moon feeling like my Mercury-retrograde woes are greater than others :-)

During the last Mercury retrograde period in May, I was incredibly productive, surprising myself more than anyone. My productivity level remain average this time around, considering how busy sky has been in September in addition to Mercury being retrograde -- the Sun and Venus' alignments to the triple conjunction and Uranus, Saturn-Uranus opposition, Pluto back at Aries Point in Capricorn, Venus-Pluto trine, Mercury-rx and Saturn conjunction, plus Venus -- yet another planet -- transiting in Virgo! I found, however, that I had to re-do a lot more things this time. That Virgo-energy was just not happy enough with results ... I had to keep fine-tuning, perfecting, analyzing ... maddening!

Well, on September 29 at 9:13 a.m. Eastern, Mercury stations and prepares for direct movement. *sigh of relief* He has been retrograde since September 7. The complete retrograde cycle, including the shadow period, is August 17 to October 14. Mercury will have retraced his steps beginning from 6 degrees and 13 minutes of Libra all the way back to 21 degrees and 38 minutes of Virgo. Expect to revisit unresolved issues or major events between now and back to August 17, especially with four other planets currently in retrograde. As Mercury moves forward through the degrees he's previously visited, twice before, this third pass may give resolutions, final answers/decisions, raise awareness to something/s previously missed, or perhaps a look back to reflect upon the current status of these situations.

Although we are all somewhat influenced by this retrograde, those with natal planets and/or house angles near Virgo at 22 degrees through Libra 6 degrees might have felt this energy stronger. How was this Mercury-retrograde cycle for you?

Sun in Libra ~ September 22 to October 23, 2009

Photo/Source UnknownRelationships are illuminated as the Sun enters Libra on September 22 at 5:18 p.m., where he will remain until October 23. The Sun represents our external drive, our potential, our conscious will. In Virgo, the Sun is somewhat shy, cautious, and conservative. While in Libra, the Sun is social, accommodating, and fair-minded.

At best, Libra is charming, diplomatic, and easygoing. At worst, Libra is indecisive, self-indulgent, and gullible. The Sun in Libra encourages harmony between the individual self and the shared self -- who is the self within a relationship?

While in Libra, we are urged to find the balance between remaining true to who we are even in a relationship, practice objectivity, and be reminded that we are creatures who are built to connect with others. Libra is governed by the planet of love, Venus, who currently transits through the nit-picky sign of Virgo, where relationships are scrutinized and measured by Virgo's discriminating ideals.

On the day the Sun enters Libra, the Sun and Pluto fight it out, resulting in confrontations, hidden truths coming to light, and hardships/intensity leading to breakthroughs/endings. With the Moon in Sagittarius on this day, wisdom resides in our emotional core to help guide us in making wise decisions/actions. In addition to the Sun-Pluto conflict, Mercury (thinking/communicating) blends energies with Saturn (reality/restrictions) in Virgo (practical/meticulous). Our obligations/limitations weigh heavily on our minds. We're now called upon to be accountable for the recent decisions we've made, actions we've taken. Hopefully, we have avoided any recent life-altering decisions, especially with Mercury in retrograde (an ideal time for reflection & review but not necessarily action). Mercury remains retrograde until September 29, with the shadow period ending on October 14.

While the Sun is in Libra, he will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 4 ~ Full Moon in Aries at 2:10 a.m. Eastern. (October 3 at 11:10 p.m. Pacific)
  • October 10 ~ Sun trine Jupiter. Let the good times roll! Optimism. General well-being. Be aware and open to opportunities, especially from unexpected places or people. The only thing to worry about is excessiveness.
  • October 14 ~ Sun trine Chiron. Opportunity for fixing what's broken with the self or to help another/others heal.
  • October 16 ~ Sun quincunx Uranus and trine Neptune. Expect the unexpected. Careful to avoid impulsive acts/decisions. Overoptimism easy now.
  • October 18 ~ New Moon in Libra at 1:32 a.m. Eastern.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Venus Trine Pluto ~ September 20, 2009

The planet of love links up with the planet of transformation. Their last similar hookup occurred on June 8, when Venus was in her home sign, Taurus.

This time around Venus, who is still getting settled in Virgo, harmoniously aligns herself with Pluto who is now moving direct and back at Aries Point in Capricorn.

Venus represents our relationships, finances, and self-worth. In Virgo, Venus is analytical, practical, and discriminating. Pluto governs our ability for deep understanding, our strength to let go, to be transformed and be empowered. In Capricorn, Pluto is goal-oriented, determined, and believes in structure. Pluto's process is known to bring purging, endings, and destruction of what no longer serves any purpose or use.

This trine creates an open space for Pluto's energy to add intensity and depth to Venus. Existing relationships may be examined now. In earth signs, issues regarding relationship stability and capacity for longevity may surface during this time. Earth signs are tactile signs. A simple touch might communicate what words can't. New relationships may become more intense, with added expectations. With Pluto involved, watch out for power play and/or obsessiveness. The opportunity for a transformation in love is possible now -- may it be in the deepening of bonds or in cutting ties.

Elsewhere in the sky on this day, the Sun (ego, potential), Mercury (thinking, communicating), and Saturn (reality, structure) join Venus in Virgo. The Sun blends energies with retrograde-Mercury, while we remain under the lingering influence of the opposition between Saturn and Uranus (radical change) which culminated a few days ago.

While Mercury is retrograde and uniting with the Sun, take this time to reflect and review the reality of our situations (Saturn). Change is inevitable with Uranus and Pluto in the mix. Will you go with the flow and let go? or Will you fight it and hold on? Move forward or stick with the familiar?

Venus in Virgo ~ Sep. 20 to Oct. 14, 2009

Venus by Selenys at selenys.deviantart.comThe planet of Love, in the sign of the Virgin, takes a more receptive role. In Leo, Venus is bold, expressive, and takes charge. In Virgo, Venus is modest and full of that wholesome "goodness" :-)

Venus represents love, money, what we value in life, and our self-worth. In love, Venus in Virgo is all about the little things, small gestures that speak volumes. In finances, Virgo-Venus is sensible and somewhat of a worrier. Virgo also values good health, healthy habits, and is hygienic.

At best, Virgo is caring, accommodating, and reliable. At worst, Virgo is overly critical, discriminating, and anxious.

While Venus is in Virgo, thoughtfulness shows your beloved the depth of your love; beginning an exercise regimen and/or healthier habits/lifestyle is ideal; and managing finances through careful budgeting cuts down stress level.

Venus enters Virgo on September 20 at 9:32 a.m. Eastern until October 14, 2009, and while in Virgo, she will make connections with the following celestial bodies on (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • September 20 ~ Venus trine Pluto. Existing relationships may be examined now. In earth signs, issues regarding relationship stability and capacity for longevity may surface now.
  • October 4 ~ Venus quincunx Jupiter. Indulgence in fun and the more pleasurable things in life. Be careful not to be too wasteful. Watch overspending or impulsive behavior ... unless, of course, that is the goal for the day :-)
  • October 7 ~ Venus quincunx Chiron. Time for healing in love and finances. Face up to the realities and shortcomings in relationships and money matters. Is this really love? Is this relationship supportive or destructive? Is it a healthy balance of give and take? Need to rework the budget? Give up some fun stuff to make financial goals?
  • October 9 ~ Venus oppose Uranus and quincunx Neptune. Anything can happen and it probably will. Worth a mention ~ on this day, Mercury Re-enters Libra.
  • October 13 ~ Venus conjunct Saturn and sextile Mars. Heaviness. Pressure. Two steps forward, one step back. Feeling a little like every effort is blocked or whatever direction taken leads to a dead end. Saturn represents our realities and the restrictions imposed upon us. This time is better spent using Virgo's talent for meticulous planning and analytical diligence. Take what Saturn is presenting and pick it apart to find a way to best deal with it. Well-planned actions/decisions are what will produce intended results.

Mercury Re-enters Virgo ~ Sep. 17 to Oct. 9, 2009

Virgo by Scott Richards at scottrichards17.deviantart.comAfter three weeks in Libra and leaving the sign with a bang, Mercury, still in retrograde, slowly returns to his home sign Virgo on September 17 and stays there until October 9.

Mercury governs all manners of mental activity, communication, writing/publishing, and short travels. In Libra, he is social, friendly, and objective. In Virgo, however, Mercury is analytical, discriminating, detailed, mentally organized, and practical.

During part of this transit in Virgo, Mercury retraces his steps as he passes through 29 degrees all the way back to 21 degrees a second time while retrograde and a third time while direct. Retracing his steps multiple times give attention to issues and situations that may need resolution or a second/third look or a simple reflection to see how far we've since his first pass at these degrees this year around the period August 17 to 25.

Mercury re-enters Virgo on September 17 at 11:26 p.m. Eastern and will stay through October 9. As he re-enters Virgo, we are still feeling the tension from Mercury square Pluto, who recently changed directions, is now moving forward, and has returned at Aries Point in Capricorn. Elsewhere in the sky, the Virgo-Sun (self) blends energies with Saturn (restrictions) and seeks balance with Uranus (breaking away). Mercury's change of signs along with the tension in the air between the Sun, Saturn, and Uranus bring focus to our personal goals/aspirations and where working towards them might fit in our lives now.

While Mercury is in Virgo, he will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • September 22 ~ Mercury conjunct Saturn. Our mind is filled with the obligations that restrict us and other realities that limit us. We can choose to allow this energy to bring us down or give us less hope or make us feel as if our dreams/desires are far from our reach. OR we can choose use this energy to accept our reality/limitations and brainstorm/plan how to work through them as we go for our true desires. Virgo-Mercury first blended energies with Saturn on August 17.
  • September 23 ~ Mercury quincunx Neptune & oppose Uranus. During Virgo-Mercury's first link up with Neptune and Uranus on August 20 & 21, Saturn's influence also preceded these alignments with Neptune and Uranus. Neptune enlightens; Uranus promotes radical change. If you've been feeling stuck, this transit will help you get unstuck. Also today, Mars quincunx Jupiter, where our actions/decisions are driven by making BIG things happen.
  • September 28 and 30~ Mercury quincunx Chiron. Allow this energy to "heal" what's "broken" ... What doesn't work? What holds you back? Healing and change may be difficult and painful but rewarding and advocates forward movement. This is also a time where you can help someone else heal their wounds. Virgo-Mercury first made this same alignment with Chiron on August 19.
  • September 29 ~ Mercury Direct in Virgo. (article forthcoming)
  • October 1 ~ Mercury sextile Mars. Our well-intentioned, well-planned actions produce intended results.
  • October 4 ~ Mercury sextile Mars, quincunx Neptune & oppose Uranus. Similar to the energies of the previous weeks, our actions reinforces our mental activity, producing intended results to well-intentioned and well-planned actions. As Mercury makes his final pass through at 24 degrees of Virgo this year, let's go ahead and get ourselves un-stuck. Neptune enlightens, while Uranus promotes radical change. Also today, Mars quincunx Neptune & trine Uranus, to reinforce our faithful steps towards becoming un-stuck.
  • October 8 ~ Mercury conjunct Saturn. Once again and for the last time this year, Mercury blends energies with Saturn to remind us of our reality, limitations, restrictions. As we move forward and toward our goals, we must not neglect our existing obligations/situations. Take the time now to establish or re-establish the balance between working towards our aspirations and living in our current situations. Virgo-Mercury previously united with Saturn on August 21 and September 22.

Mercury-rx Square Pluto ~ Sep. 16 & 17, 2009

Photo source unknown. Libra Tattoo.Mercury has been in retrograde since last week on September 7 and will continue do so until September 29. As if September has not already been busy enough with major celestial events, with Mercury and Pluto changing direction and the perfection Saturn-Uranus opposition, Mercury-rx now slips back to Aries Point in Libra from 11:40 p.m. Eastern on September 16 until the following day at 11:25 p.m., after which he re-enters Virgo.

During this time, Mercury-rx is in conflict with Pluto, who is also at Aries Point and now moving direct for about a week. Our minds (Mercury) are sharp with logic (Libra) that penetrates through lies to arrive at truths (Pluto). We are better able to focus, concentrate deeply. Our words may be insensitive and hurtful, which might make it easy to get frustrated and angered. Let's keep that in mind when speaking or if offended. With Pluto in play, we may be required to do some investigation/research into a situation that holds importance to us. Be prepared for what may be revealed. Changing our minds about something that's been established may also be required.

Elsewhere in the sky, the Virgo-Sun (ego/potential) blends energies with Saturn (structure/reality) and seeks balance with Uranus (radical change), reinforcing the Aries Point energy surrounding these two days. We are made aware of our ambition, hopes, and dreams as well as our realities and the restrictions that comes with our current situations, all the while brainstorming on how we might be able to push past the challenges and move closer to achieving our goals.

Perhaps, what will be revealed or revisited now involve issues surrounding our future goals and what may be required to achieve them -- sacrifice? commitment? hard work? endings?

Mercury governs how we think and communicate (verbal, non-verbal or written), commerce, and short travels. In Libra, Mercury is social, friendly, and requires understanding both sides on any situation before making any judgements or decisions. At best, Mercury in Libra is fair-minded, charming, and diplomatic. At worst, indecisive, gullible, and indulgent.

When Mercury-rx returns to zero degree of Libra, he retraces his steps from August 25 and 26. Issues and events on or around those days may resurface now -- unresolved issues may find resolutions or closure now; perhaps a situation warrants a second look; a plan, reformulation; an agreement, amended; and the like.

For me, late last month, I was preparing to visit my family in California. As a Virgo-rising, I'm usually quite meticulous with my checklists handy. I hope I have not neglected or forgotten anything in my excitement to see family. If I did, I'm quite sure I'll be reminded of it now...

New Moon in Virgo ~ September 18, 2009

Virgo by Azurylipfe at azurylipfe.deviantart.comNew Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Virgo qualities (communicative, practical, analytical, adaptable) and 6th house themes (physical health, work, routines, service to others).

Virgo is natively ruled by Mercury, who is currently in retrograde motion and will have re-entered Virgo the day before on September 17. In Virgo, the Moon needs to mentally process emotional drives, is discriminating, seeks comfort in routine, and needs to be of use, to be of service, to make a difference.

The Virgo-New Moon (heart & soul) blends energies with Saturn (structure/restrictive) & Mercury-rx (thought), seeks balance with Uranus (progressive/expansive), and is fatefully aligned with Neptune (dreams). We are encouraged to recognize (Mercury) and fully accept our realities regardless of how they might limit us (Saturn), be excited to take more calculated risks (opposition to Uranus), as we keep our ideals/dreams (Neptune) very close to our heart & soul (Moon & Sun). The New Moon's energy is further strengthened by Pluto (power) currently at Aries Point in Capricorn (ambition/discipline).

This new moon occurs at 26 degrees of Virgo. Those born within 3 days of September 18 or March 16; or have planets/house angles around 26 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon falls right, smack on my Virgo-AC (self/potential) seeking balance my DC (partnerships), is also conjunct my Pluto (empowerment), and squares my Mercury (the mind), MC (the future), and IC (the past). Transiting Saturn and Mercury-rx also join the conjunction party over my Ascendant and make the same alignments that the New Moon makes with my natal planets and house angles. Crrraaazzzy!! During this New Moon phase, I've got a lot to think about, decide upon, and "own" these decisions (Pluto) regarding my personal goals (AC) and the recent collaborative (DC) creative projects I'm venturing on; and how those projects and other ideas floating in my head (Mercury) fit in the bigger picture of where I'm going (MC) without being held back by where I've been (IC) and/or what's familiar/established (Saturn). I hope my head doesn't explode :O

Venus, Triple Conjunction, Uranus ~ Sep. 11-16, 2009

Venus Rising by The Dark Artist Lady at theartistdarklady.deviantart.comAs Venus nears the end of her visit in the zodiac sign Leo, she aligns herself in succession to the triple conjunction -- Jupiter (ideals), followed by Chiron (healing), then Neptune (enlightenment) -- and finally Uranus (radical change). As she makes each of these connections, beginning September 11th through the 16th, Venus touches upon our relationships and material worth. What are our aspirations (Jupiter)? What is at the root of what keeps us from achieving them (Chiron)? Let's become attune and figure it out (Neptune). Then let's bravely take the self out of its comfort zone and make the difficult but necessary changes to move forward (Uranus).

Venus represents our relationships (all types -- intimate, platonic, familial, and with the self), our material wealth, our value systems, our self-worth, our capacity to see beauty in the world, and our desires.

The last time she found herself aligned to these spiritual celestial bodies in July, the energies were more free flowing. This time around the energy is more challenging, tense, and desperately seeks harmony.

Elsewhere in the sky, the Sun in Virgo (exacting/meticulous/practical) follows Venus' trail and makes his own frustrating alignments to the triple conjunction, requiring adjustments to satisfy obstacles. On September 15, Saturn and Uranus also perfects their strenuous opposition, adding to the already tense few days. As if the strain of the previous days were not enough, on September 17, Mercury will be in conflict with Pluto PLUS the Virgo-Sun will blend energies with Saturn and oppose Uranus -- are we to relive/review/remember the events of September 15 again?

The timeline (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • September 11 ~ Venus Oppose Jupiter. In Leo, Venus is fun-loving, warm, and opts for the pleasurable things in life. This day can be one of "productive" play, of allowing the self to entertain thoughts of success, of achieving one's goals, of living one's dreams. Let the self feel that stirring of hope and excitement for improvement (Jupiter in Aquarius). Also, on this day, Pluto stations and begins moving forward again.
  • September 13/14 ~ Venus Oppose Chiron. Now that our hearts and minds have been stirred/awakened, we now begin to think of the reasons/excuses of why our dreams are too far from our reach. In a previous post, I mentioned a few ordinary people who rose above their "reasons/excuses" and lived extraordinary lives -- Helen Keller, Harriet Tubman, J.K. Rowling. All had incredibly difficult, seemingly impossible odds to contend with but proved that success is achievable. On this Venus-Chiron opposition day, yield to courage of the Leonine energy Venus currently possess and bravely tackle what is at the root of blockages. Resign yourself to the Sun in Virgo for a practical approach that is tenacious and precise.
  • September 14/15 ~ Venus Oppose Neptune. Today coincides with the perfection of another tense alignment -- Saturn-Uranus opposition. Discerning truth may elude us but remain faithful. Neptune has a keen ability for exacting insight that is beyond reason or logic. The key for today is balance, and in order to achieve that, release control and surrender.
  • September 16 ~ Venus Quincunx Uranus. Expect the unexpected. A change of heart. A parting of ways. Breaking away from what binds.
  • September 17 ~ Sun Conjunct Saturn & Oppose Uranus Plus Mercury-rx Square Pluto. The reality of our situations, the limitations imposed upon us, and the responsibilities we are commissioned with are all right there -- laid out in front of us. A constant reminder of why it's just too hard to make the changes. Is it truly so difficult that we choose to stay as we are? Allow Mercury's link to Pluto to give us the resolve and deep concentration to ferret out a solid plan or establish a foundation for our objectives. This is the time to let go of the old and welcome the new. It's up to you, to each of us, what we choose to live for from this day forward.

Although we are all influence by this celestial event involving Venus' successive links to Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus, those with natal planets/house angles at 19-25 degrees of fixed signs (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio) or Pisces and Virgo may be influenced more strongly than others.

Saturn Oppose Uranus ~ September 15, 2009

Out with the Old ... In with the New

Can you feel it in the air? The tension between sticking with the familiar versus embarking on a new path, a new method, a new way of thinking. Oh, the excitement of something new, a change from the old ways and the promises such changes hold -- but what will such changes require? Things may not be perfect now but are we ready to leave behind what has been for all these years -- we've done things a certain way, believed in certain ideals, trusted in a certain system. It's nice to think about change, but is it more difficult than what we may have imagined to actually let go of what no longer works?

The first time Saturn (old/obligations) in Virgo (practical/methodical) and Uranus (new/freedom) in Pisces (truth seeker) opposed each other coincided with a historic U.S. Presidential Election on November 4, 2008. Americans declared that, indeed, we are ready for change.

Once again and for the third time out of five total occasions, Saturn and Uranus oppose each other. This time around, however, Saturn is quincunx Neptune (enlightenment) in Aquarius (awakening) adding to the strain of the opposition. As Saturn makes his case about foundation and proven methods, Uranus debunks Saturn's argument by reminding Saturn that this is 2009, and we need radical change to accommodate the needs of today and the future. Neptune annoyingly pokes (quincunx) Saturn, urging him open up and entertain the possibilities for new ideals (Uranus) while balancing them (opposition) with doses of reality (Saturn).

Elsewhere in the sky, Mercury is retrograde in Libra and grows closer to a square with Pluto, newly in direct motion, while Venus aligns with Neptune and Uranus. Allow for delays/misunderstandings (Mercury retrograde) while remaining objective (Libra) as we may be required to focus deeply (Pluto) on the job at hand (Capricorn). Remain optimistic as Venus (love/relationships/values) seek harmony with Neptune and require adjustment with Uranus (radical change).

This Saturn-Uranus opposition cycle happens approximately every 45 years, leaving long term global effects, as well as personal impact. The Saturn and Uranus opposition most recent series occurred in 1965 to 1967, coinciding with the Vietnam War, as well as a social revolution; and before that, in 1918 to 1920, just after World War I, where the world & its government/people picked the pieces left behind by the War to End All Wars. Currently, at this 2008-2010 Saturn-Uranus opposition series, we find ourselves yet again in the midst of a war -- The Holy War or War on Terrorism or Afghanistan-Pakistan War -- I'm unsure what it's officially called?

Well, back to strictly astrology and its impact on each of us, personally. This month's opposition occurs at 25 degrees of Virgo (for Saturn) & Pisces (for Uranus) and is perfect at 8:51 a.m. Eastern. Although we are all recipients of its energy, those born within 3 days of March 14 and September 16 or those with natal planets/house angles on or around 25 degrees may feel this alignment's influence A LOT stronger.

2008-2010 Saturn-Uranus Exact Opposition dates:
  • November 4, 2008 at 19 degrees (U.S. Presidential Election Day); strongest influence on those born within 3 days of March 9 and September 11.
  • February 5, 2009 at 21 degrees; strongest influence on those born within 3 days of March 11 and September 13.
  • September 15, 2009 at 25 degrees; strongest influence on those born within 3 days of March 14 and September 16.
  • April 26, 2010 at 28 degrees; strongest influence on those born within 3 days of March 18 and September 20.
  • July 26, 2010 at Aries Point (Saturn in Libra & Uranus in Aries); strongest influence on those born within 3 days of March 20 and September 22.

For me, this opposition blends energies with my natal 1st & 7th houses while actually falling on my natal 6th & 12th houses and solar 3rd & 9th houses. Changes in my health, both physical (6th) & psychological (12th) as well as how I think/learn (3rd) & achieve personal growth (9th) may be related to the balance necessary between my self/vitality/potential (1st) and my relationships/others (7th). Shifting my perspective has been a theme in my life for a few years now. Perhaps there are still deeply-rooted concepts/ways of thinking that I need to replace with new ideas to reflect the person I am now and the person I aspire to be. There are also existing restrictions/obligations within my "others" house (7th) that keeps me from the freedom the self requires (1st) to fully embark on a new path.

How will this Saturn-Uranus opposition influence in your life? What natal and/or solar houses does this alignment activate? Look to the Virgo and Pisces-ruled houses in your birth chart. Use the list below to identify the Virgo and Pisces zodiac signs. Match the sign and degree.

Pluto Direct in Capricorn ~ September 11, 2009

Bookmark and Share

Pluto courtesy of Science on a SphereThe (now dwarf) planet, Pluto, starts moving direct this week on September 11. He has been retrograde since April 4, just a few days after I created my @astrogrrl Twitter account and posted my first astro blog. Has it really been 5 months? Where has the time gone?

Pluto represents rebirth, regeneration, and transformation. He is our compulsions, obsessions, ability for control, and empowerment. Pluto gives us the power to tackle obstacles in life through deeply understanding our situations, which results in our letting go and being transformed in the process. Pluto's process usually brings endings, purging, destruction, complete annihilation of what no longer works before a renewal can occur.

As he transits signs, he moves through our natal and solar houses affecting our lives slowly, subtly but with glaring, remarkable life-altering results. Pluto currently moves through Capricorn, where he is ambitious, practical, and determined. Capricorn represents social status, public life, reputation, hierarchies, and established government. Globally, Pluto's transit in Capricorn until 2023 may bring changes in government systems, restructuring of proven but antiquated methods, issues with security, and the like. Expect these issues to be extended to our personal lives -- how we feel about security and what makes us secure; a look at what we do, hold on to, practice, believe in that no longer reflects our current life, our present self, our present drives; establishing or reevaluating of our goals/aspirations and taking steps toward achieving them.

For me, Capricorn-Pluto currently transits my solar 7th house (partnerships--intimate or business) and natal 4th house (home/family/past), and sometime in 2022, will enter my natal 5th house (love/creativity). I expect some REALLY difficult and painful but necessary release/healing regarding intimate relationships (addressing recurring themes like attracting similar 'types'; any fears?; any brokenness still need mending?) and gaining the power to transform the negative energy into beneficial energy that allows me to nurture a healthy, happy, long-term relationship. Surely, it won't take 15 years for me to go through this process :)

Pluto's transits are not pleasant or even welcomed but they are essential. How will his transit in Capricorn influence your life? Look to the Capricorn-ruled house in your natal and/or solar birth chart/s to determine which aspects of your life he will be transforming.
