Uranus Square Pluto ~ 2012 to 2015

Supernova rainbow explosion via HD Wallpapers

On March 2011, Uranus re-entered Aries where he'll stay until mid-2018, briefly visit Taurus, then return to Aries again late 2018, and finally leave Aries early 2019. During the first few years of Uranus' transit in Aries, Uranus will be locked in a rare, forceful, and tense energy of a square with Pluto from 2012 to 2015.

Uranus first ventured into Aries for a few months on May to August 2010. During that brief period, he got tangled up in that year's Cardinal Grand Cross (the first of which involved an eclipsed full moon in Capricorn) and Cardinal T-square (which involved Saturn in Libra, Jupiter in Aries & Pluto in Capricorn). Some of us may still be experiencing the effects of this last year's t-square. Hopefully, the changes that coincided with that period last year have been positive changes/major breakthroughs, despite whatever difficulties, challenges, heart breaks, or breakdowns we may have had to go through.

Then, around the time when this post was written from June 19 until July 17 (2011), Uranus and Pluto became involved in an alignment once again. This time they were actually within orb of their square (the tighter the orb, the stronger the influence). This short period may give us a preview of what their alignment might bring our attention to. The recent eclipses throughout June and into early July may have already brought intensity that's full of the unexpected and/or the immediate. The additional fierce energy of this square might have been (might still be) too much for some of us to handle. Those with Suns and risings in the early degrees of the cardinal signs (particularly 4° to 6°) may unavoidably feel the forceful nature of this growing Uranus-Pluto square, especially if there are other progressions and transits to the birth chart that may be reinforcing the Uranus-Pluto square's energy plus the recent eclipses.

For Gemini-Sagittarius Suns & risings (2010 to 2013); Taurus-Scorpio Suns & risings (2012 to 2015); and Aries-Libra Suns & risings (2013 to 2015), the eclipses in your sign plus the Uranus-Pluto square may feed into each other and add more strength/depth to the already powerful energy of the eclipses in your sign! Don't panic. Breathe. Become centered. See the bigger picture just as equally as the details. Assess. Plan. Act.

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two or more planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between at least two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something that's birthed from inside of us and then to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment, or something that influences many. Depending on where the square falls in our birth chart, changes/challenges/conflict may relate to our career (10th house), physical health (6th house), finances (2nd/8th houses), home/family (4th house), relationships (7th house), children (5th house), friendships (11th house), etc.

We'll be under the umbrella of Uranus square Pluto for much of 2012 to 2015, their square will perfect - twice for each year in 2012, 2013 & 2014, and once in 2015. Here are the periods when Uranus square Pluto will be at its strongest:
  • June 19, 2011 to July 17, 2011 ~ within orb but will not perfect
  • May 16, 2012 to October 29, 2012 ~ perfect on June 24 (at 8° & 23') and September 18 (at 6° & 57') - interesting that these dates falls within days of my birthday (June 27) and my sister's (Sept. 14) ... hmm ...
  • April 17, 2013 to June 28, 2013 ~ perfect on May 20 (at 11° & 14')
  • September 21, 2013 to December 12, 2013 ~ perfect on November 1 (at 9° & 25')
  • March 12, 2014 to May 24, 2014 ~ perfect on April 21 (at 13° & 33')
  • November 4, 2014 to April 25, 2015 ~ perfect on December 14, 2014 (at 12° & 35') and March 16, 2015 (at 15° & 17')
  • December 18, 2015 to March 19, 2016 ~ within orb but will not perfect
For me as a Cancer-Sun, the Uranus-Pluto square impacts my solar 10th & 7th houses (career/future goals vs. relationships/partnerships); and as a Virgo-rising, my natal 8th & 5th houses (debt/transformation vs. fun/creative self-expression).

How might this square manifest in your world? Look to the solar and natal houses that are governed by Aries and Capricorn; then, see if there are any natal planets/house angles that will be triggered by the square. That should be a good start at gaining some insight.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles on or around any of the above mention degrees within cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available personal consultations tailored to your needs. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Schedule your session for a 12-Month Transit Chart , a Solar Return (birthdays), or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Jupiter Trine Pluto ~ July 7, 2011

Original image source unknown.

Last month, Jupiter entered Taurus on June 4th, then immediately linked up with Neptune (insight/spirituality/the subconscious) on June 8th. And last weekend on July 2nd, Jupiter aligned with Chiron (what's broken and needs healing). Now, Jupiter trines Pluto on July 7th.

A trine is harmonious alignment between at least two planets. Jupiter trine Pluto offers a chance to overcome difficulties. Perhaps, a breakthrough resulting from a breakdown or a transformation through surrender/the act of relinquishing control...in release, we stumble onto the answer we've been searching for or the clarity we've been seeking. In letting go, we rise above and are able to 'see' the bigger picture which enables us to carve a path towards our destination.

With Pluto involved, there must first be a confrontation of truth, of recognizing our own on shadows, of becoming aware of unhealthy habits or patterns. Through that process of realization, there must then be a 'death', elimination, purging before there can be a renewal, a transformation, a breakthrough.

Jupiter reminds us of the best that life can offer, gives hope, offers opportunities, expands our horizon, and fosters personal growth. Pluto is the (dwarf) planet of power, able to regenerate, renew, transform through digging deeper and deeper until the root cause is revealed so that it can be destroyed, expunged. Both Jupiter and Pluto transit earth signs (Jupiter in Taurus & Pluto in Capricorn) so, for most of us their influence could be something related to our material world -- security, income, structure, a change in what's been the norm/accepted?

This can also be experienced as a grounding/stabilizing energy following the Jupiter sextile Neptune which may have opened our spiritual eyes onto something we've been missing, and Jupiter sextile Chiron where old wounds might have resurfaced so healing can occur.

Jupiter trine Pluto occurs on July 7th at 6 degrees. Those celebrating a birthday on the days approaching to this trine's perfection may find this energy present throughout their Solar Return year (astrological birthday year).

This is the first of three occurrences. Jupiter will once again trine Pluto on:
  • October 28, 2011 at 5 degrees and 19 minutes
  • March 12/13, 2012 at 9 degrees and 19 minutes
Those with natal planets/house angles around these degrees may experience this Jupiter-Pluto trine more powerfully than others.

For me, with my natal Cancer-Sun at 5 degrees, Jupiter sextiles my Sun while Pluto opposes it. Pluto additionally squares my natal Uranus (triggering the natal square between my Sun and my Uranus) and sextiles my North Node (triggering my natal Sun-North Node sextile and Uranus-North Node quincunx)...which means, I better change or else!! I wouldn't want to find out the 'or else', especially with the recent Cancer-Solar Eclipse square my Chiron (what's broken and needs healing).

How might Jupiter trine Pluto manifest in your world? Look to the Capricorn and Taurus-ruled houses in your natal and/or solar charts to gain insight and see if you have natal planet/house angles on or around 6 degrees of fixed or cardinal signs.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets near 6 degrees of fixed and/or mutable signs? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal consultations tailored to your needs. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays), 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or 24-month Pluto Transit. You may also request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You might also consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Pluto Retrograde ~ April 9 to September 16, 2011

An artist's impression of the view of Pluto and Charon from one of Pluto's smaller moons (either Nix or Hydra). Credit and Copyright to NASA, ESA and G. Bacon (STScI)

It's time for Mr. Intensity's retrograde cycle. This year Pluto retrogrades from April 9 to September 16 and will go over the road he's already traveled from 8 degrees back to 5 degrees in Capricorn. Do you have natal planets/house angles between those degrees? If yes, then Pluto has been hanging around agitating that part of your chart/life. Just when he moves past the degree of your natal planet/house angle, he switches gears and heads for it again. But it's not personal. It's his job. And it's each of our jobs to endure with whatever transformative change he is helping us make. The more we resist, consciously or not, the more difficult his transit on our charts/in our lives will be.

Pluto in Capricorn turns its focus inward. He questions our structure, the very foundation that we operate from, the beliefs we hold so dear, the disciplines we practice, the principles we abide by, and that which we have always known to be our truth. From previous posts, I've briefly explained the importance and meaning of Pluto in Capricorn:

Pluto represents rebirth, regeneration, and transformation. He is our compulsions, obsessions, ability for control, and empowerment. Pluto gives us the power to tackle obstacles in life through deeply understanding our situations, which results in our letting go and being transformed in the process. Pluto's process usually brings endings, purging, destruction, complete annihilation of what no longer works before a renewal can occur.

As he transits signs, he moves through our natal and solar houses affecting our lives slowly, subtly but with glaring, remarkable life-altering results. Pluto currently moves through Capricorn, where he is ambitious, practical, and determined. Capricorn represents social status, public life, reputation, hierarchies, and established government. Globally, Pluto's transit in Capricorn until 2023 may bring changes in government systems, restructuring of proven but antiquated methods, issues with security, and the like. Expect these issues to be extended to our personal lives -- how we feel about security and what makes us secure; a look at what we do, hold on to, practice, believe in that no longer reflects our current life, our present self, our present drives; establishing or reevaluating of our goals/aspirations and taking steps toward achieving them.

While Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn, he will revisit the period from now and back to mid-December 2010. Perhaps, recurring issues or events that you went through on and off for much of 2010 but left unfinished may also get another look. How have things progressed since then? What's different? What's the same? Where's the hang up? Why can't you seem to give it up or let it go? What are you really afraid of?

Make use of this Pluto retrograde period as best as you can. Whatever you ignore or whatever you remain 'blind' to may come back to really bite you in the ass, especially when Pluto (purging/cycle of death & rebirth) and Uranus (revolutionary/radical change) square (conflict/war) each other next year. They will come close to squaring in July-ish but their square won't perfect. However, late June to July-ish could give some of us a big, loud wake up call or maybe something less harsh like a bright light bulb resulting in a long awaited a-ha moment. Those with natal planets/house angles between 4 or 5 degrees of cardinal signs might experience this more forceful than most.

Pluto retrogrades from April 9 at 1:50 a.m. PDT / 4:50 a.m. EDT until September 16 at 11:24 a.m. PDT / 2:24 p.m EDT. The retrograde occurs at 8 degrees back to 5 degrees of Capricorn. Early born cardinal Sun signs or Risings and those with natal planets/house angles between 5 and 8 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this retrograde stronger than others. For those with natal Pluto in the early degrees of Libra (born approximately October 1973 to April 1974; August to November 1974; April to August 1974), you're going through your Pluto square Pluto years. These are trying years where external forces demand that you face up to your own shadow and become in contact with the buried parts of the self. So, you're not going crazy. Hang in there and work with the changes that needs to happen. Resisting just makes the transition more painful. Be mindful that resistance can come in the form of unconscious drives.

For me, Pluto has been in an opposition my Sun & square my Uranus for most of 2010 and will continue to do so for all of 2011. This Pluto transit puts extra pressure to my natal 10th house Cancer-Sun that is natally in a tight square my Uranus (in Libra & in natal 1st). As if that's not enough, Neptune has also been square my Neptune for quite some time & will continue for much of 2011/some of 2012. I'd have to 'checked out' not to feel the pressure. 'Luckily' for me, my birth chart is natively strong with Pluto energy. I have Pluto-rising and sextile my natal Neptune. So, it's a "familiar" energy of delving deep, accepting harsh truths, cutting off unnecessaries and restructuring deeply rooted foundation. What's pushing the envelope, however, is that Pluto's opposition to my Sun and square to my Uranus forms a cardinal T-square with my natal Uranus as the focal point of the T-square's tension! For the non-astro folks, a square is the most challenging relationship between two planets. Think of the planets involved being at war. Each forcing upon the other the strength of their will. Action is required with a square, although agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best way to handle the forcefulness of a square. An opposition is also challenging but can be solved by balance, compromise and meeting each other half-way. A t-square has at least double the square energy in addition to the challenges of the opposition between at least two planets. Square=conflict/war. Opposition=requires balance. T-square=ouch. Squares, oppositions, t-squares -- it's all about growth/personal development and sometimes growing pains inevitably comes hand in hand with maturity.

How might this Pluto retrograde manifest in your personal world? Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets on or around 5-8 degrees of Capricorn? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for a 24-month Pluto Transit reading or a customized reading tailored to your needs. Schedule your session. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Jupiter Square Pluto ~ February 25, 2011

Animal fight via flixya.com

Jupiter (expansion) square (in conflict) Pluto (elimination), the final bout. This week, Jupiter, who has returned to Aries after revisiting Pisces, and Pluto reconnect once more in the form of a square -- a challenging, dynamic energy of conflict in order to find a resolution.

The first time their square perfected was July 24, 2010, then following Jupiter beginning his retrograde cycle, they squared off again on August 2, 2010. During that time, 2010's Cardinal T-Square was in full force. The t-square players were Saturn in Libra, Jupiter/Uranus in Aries, and Pluto in Capricorn as the focal point of this powerful planetary alignment.

It's been some months since their last meet up. And this time around, there is no cardinal t-square in the background, it's just Jupiter and Pluto fighting it out on February 25th. Perhaps issues now are reminiscent to events of that July to August period in 2010. Maybe it's a chance to complete what was begun/introduced back then or takes things to the next level. But it's also just as possible that there's no connection between what's happening in your world now that links to that time.

As written on previous posts,

Jupiter represents good luck, joy, expansion, opportunities, higher education, and personal growth through our interests, experience and spirituality. He also governs publishing, travel, foreigners and exposure to other cultures. At best, Jupiter brings a wealth of knowledge, understanding, growth, opportunities, as well as financial gains. At worst, overindulgent, excessive, wasteful and unable to get past "dreaming" of the possibilities.

Jupiter in Aries is the spark of optimism needed to push through despite mountains to climb. He blesses us with opportunities that will help support our endeavors. It is our job to be aware of doors or windows opening. With Uranus also in Aries for most of Jupiter's transit in Aries, opportunities may not come in the package we expect them to or hope for them to. They may not even come from the sources or people we think they might. We can all benefit from Jupiter by expanding our minds, our expectations, our perceptions to break past whatever metaphorical boundaries limit us from what's truly possible.

As Pluto transits signs, he moves through our natal and solar houses affecting our lives slowly, subtly but with glaring, remarkable life-altering results. Pluto currently moves through Capricorn, where he is ambitious, pragmatic, and determined. Pluto in Capricorn represents social status, public life, reputation, hierarchies, and established government. Globally, Pluto's transit in Capricorn until 2024 may bring changes in government systems, restructuring of proven but antiquated methods, issues with security, and the like.

Jupiter square Pluto is an opportunity to challenge what has been the norm/the familiar and improve upon what no longer serves through elimination of the old and adoption of the new. Although their square peaks on the February 25th, the weeks approaching and following this day are also influenced by the energy of their alignment.

Jupiter gives the optimism to fight for ideals/aspirations; Aries gives the courage and strength to push fast and hard; Pluto purges and focuses on putting an end to what no longer serves; Capricorn represents the status quo.

To satisfy objectives, issues surrounding overexertion of power or excessive force may be encountered. There are also deep desires to bring benefits to many and strong motivations to overcome whatever restrictions or limitations are being imposed, as we have witnessed in recent and current world events.

For those of us who find that the impact of this square is a more personal and internal process, going through a complete break down and a breakthrough arising from that struggle/pain could be how this Jupiter-Pluto square is experienced. This could be exhausting, frustrating, and depressing, as Jupiter tends to expand what it comes in contact with. Sometimes, what's blown up bigger is not what's desired but what must first be acknowledged and dealt with. Trust your own personal process, however. Keep the faith. Be mindful of your intentions.

On the day Jupiter and Pluto perfect their square, Pluto also sextiles (opportunistic link) the Sun and Mercury who are blending energies in Pisces. Throwing in a little Piscean energy in the mix could be helpful in giving us a little more hopefulness or faith in our own process. For those attuned to the spiritual world or their intuitive self, this could also be an inspired time where insight can be gained or, perhaps, even an inner calm/peace despite what chaos/problems the tangible world holds.

Although we are all influenced by this Jupiter-Pluto square, in what manner, how much impact and where in each of our lives this energy may manifest depend a lot on how these transiting planets and their alignments are touching our birth charts. In general, however, those with cardinal sun signs or rising signs (especially with Sun or Ascendant between 4 and 10 degrees of cardinal signs) and those with natal planets/house angles within those same degrees in cardinal signs may experience this energy more forceful/powerful/undeniable than most.

Those celebrating a birthday in February, especially the second half of the month, may have this Jupiter-Pluto square energy remain influential for their Solar Return (astrological birthday) year. Make use of it in a way that is productive and fosters growth for your personal year.

For me, my natal Sun, at 5 degrees of Cancer, remains in the umbrella of an opposition from transiting Pluto. Pluto transits my solar 7th house of relationships. Jupiter transits my 10th house of future goals. Both are challenging my Sun, which represents my conscious will, my potential, the ego. As Pluto make transformational changes within my solar 7th house (relationships), how those changes balance out or need to balance with the needs/desires of my Sun (self/potential) will greatly impact my life's direction through how my goals are formed or how I decide to act upon/what to do with whatever aspirations I may have.

How might this Jupiter square Pluto manifest in your world? Look to the natal planets/house planets on or around 7 degrees of cardinal signs? If you don't have your birth chart handy, cast one at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Schedule your session or if you have questions, ask me here. Consider giving the gift of insight.

Pluto Direct ~ September 13/14, 2010

Pluto - New Horizons by Dan Durda via APOD

After five months in retrograde, Pluto stations on September 13 at 9:37 p.m. PST (September 14 12:37 a.m. EST) in preparation for direct motion. While retrograde, Pluto retraced his steps from 5 degrees back to 2 degrees in Capricorn. Those with natal planets or house angles between 2 and 5 degrees of cardinal signs have had to contend with Pluto's forceful energy and will continue to be under the umbrella of Pluto's influence for several more months, possibly another year!

As previously posted:

On a separate note, Mars also begins his transit in Scorpio on the same day Pluto turns direct.

For me, Pluto continues to transit my solar 7th house (partnerships--intimate or business) and natal 4th house (home/family/past), and sometime in 2022, will enter my natal 5th house (love/creativity). My natal Sun (conscious will) in my natal 10th house (professional pursuits) continues to be in an opposition with Pluto while Pluto is also square my natal Uranus (breaking with tradition) in my natal 1st house (potential). I find that the more I fight whatever inevitable changes there are, the more difficulties I encounter; and, once I get through with said challenges/obstacles, the experience unavoidably points back in the path that I previously tried to avoid or ignore. arrgh! Why can't I just learn to not fight it?! I just seem to keep choosing to learn the hard way. lol. Well, I suppose I don't always fight it, but the occasions I do are the most noticeable to me, hindsight.

Pluto's transits are not pleasant or even welcomed but they are essential. Pluto is slow moving so, his impact may be subtle but undeniable. How has Pluto's transit in Capricorn influence your life? Look to the Capricorn-ruled house/s in your natal and/or solar birth chart/s to help determine which parts of your life he's working on transforming.

Saturn Square Pluto-rx ~ August 21, 2010

Image credit & copyright to the University of Colorado

It's the final round for Saturn square Pluto. The bout between Saturn in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn first occurred on November 15, 2009, then was revisited earlier this year on January 31st, and finally, the last of their knock down, drag out fight happens on August 21st.

One big difference with their beat down this time around is that the culmination of square is a part of an ongoing Cardinal T-square that's been building since late May. This makes their fight or flight energy even more incontrovertible and urgent.

Saturn remains in a tight opposition with Jupiter in Aries, who also tightly squares Pluto. This Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto alignments form a Cardinal T-square. As explained in a previous post,

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two or more planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between at least two planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.In this case, something's got to give (Pluto as the focal point of t-square) in order to satisfy both our ideals/aspirations (Jupiter) and our reality/restrictions (Saturn).

Per my original Saturn square Pluto post:Saturn's focus in Libra is our relationships -- relating to partners, lovers, others. In Capricorn, Pluto takes a look at structure, foundation, and proven methods that may no longer be applicable to present life and living. Just because something has always been doesn't mean it should always be. There is no progress and no personal growth in keeping antiquated ways, ideas, values, and rules.

With Saturn and Pluto warring in the sky above us, we are forced to take a serious look at our relationships and/or what we hold on to for the sake of familiarity or even fear of the unknown, should we ever let go. In our waking world, tensions rise. We argue. We fight. We remain frustrated. Something has to give. Perhaps that something lies within us. Perhaps the first step depends upon the self.

Saturn disciplines us through restrictions while Pluto deepens our understanding through unearthing secrets; secrets others keep from us or ones we hide from the self because maybe, they are too difficult to accept. Between Saturn showing us our realities, Pluto revealing hidden truths and this energy lingering for several months, there will undoubtedly be global effects of this alignment. On a personal level, however, expect to get to the nitty gritty, purge the unnecessaries, and arrive at a destination breathing in new life as a newer, stronger, more improved version of the self.

Although we are all influenced by their square, those with natal planets or house angles on or around 3 degrees of cardinal signs (especially in Capricorn) and those going through their Saturn Return (ending of one life cycle & beginning of next) or Solar Return (personal year) may experience their energy stronger than most.

Look to the houses governed by Libra and Capricorn in your birth chart. Match the signs and degrees to get an idea of how their square/cardinal t-square might have an impact on you. Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets at 3 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule your session for a Saturn Return (ending one life cycle & entering into the next), Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Cardinal Grand Cross ~ August 6/7, 2010

Image credit & copyright to Mike McDonaldThe Cardinal T-square has been in full force since Saturn (reality/hard work) returned to Libra on July 21st, then followed by Mars (aggression/action) entering Libra on July 29th, and soon Venus (relationships/worth) will join the cardinal party when she transits her home sign, Libra, beginning on August 6th. This cardinal t-square currently involves Saturn (and soon Venus) in Libra opposing Uranus and Jupiter in Aries; and all are putting an extreme amount of pressure against Pluto in Capricorn who may be having a difficult time catching his breath as he feels the squeeze. Those who are early-born December Capricorns or June Cancers (also, early degree Capricorn/Cancer risings) may feel this energy stronger than others.

As I've mentioned before, this cardinal energy climaxing now has been brewing since late May starting with Uranus' entrance in Aries and its influence is long term. This cardinal force's impact on us, as individuals and as people sharing a world together, will continue to unfold for months/years to come.

Now, adding to the strain of this Cardinal T-square to form a Cardinal Grand Cross is the Moon's (heart/inner drives) transit in her home sign of Cancer during the early degrees, just as Venus also begins her transit in fellow cardinal sign, Libra. This occurs around August 6 or 7 depending on where in the world you're located.

I've previously explained what a Grand Cross is on a post for the recent Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on June 26:

A Grand Cross is a combination of (at least) four squares and (at least) two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two (or more) celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. With the addition of the Cancer-Moon and Libra-Venus in the mix, much of the focus during this first full week of August may involve our relationships (of all types including that which we have with the self), as well as our material and self worth. It may be time to take an honest look at our attachments, may they be with people, material things, ideologies, memories, old ways/methods, etc. Attachments that take an active part in our daily lives through the decisions we make or avoid having to make and actions we take or choose not to take. It's also an ideal time to become conscious/aware of that which we choose to bury beneath the surface for fear of what acknowledging it/them might mean. These are challenging times regardless of whether we choose to live consciously or on auto-pilot. Wouldn't it be better to take control of the life we lead by grabbing the wheel, working with the energies, achieving personal goals and growing as individuals?

A New Moon in Leo occurs on Monday, August 9, just a few days after this cardinal grand cross. This Leo-New Moon phase is a great period renewals ... beginnings. Work through what you must, what the tense celestial energies are urging you to; then, use the New Moon phase to help with initiating what's to be done or what's next or whatever/wherever in your life you could use a clean slate.

For me as a Cancer-Sun at 5 degrees, transiting Pluto has been playing tug of war with my Sun all year and will continue to do so through to next year. With Pluto being the focal point of this cardinal t-square, by extension, my Sun also feels a little beat up. The Cancer-Moon in this cardinal grand cross gets cozy with my Sun. Will this blending of heart (Moon) and soul (Sun) help clarify what's been eluding me, identify what's needs pinpointing and/or soften/lighten the strain of this celestial influence against my birth chart? We'll see...

In addition to Capricorns & Cancers born within the first 4 degrees or those with Ascendants within the early degrees, Cardinal Suns/Risings plus those with natal planets/house angles between zero & 4 degrees of cardinal signs are sure to feel the energy of this cardinal t-square and cardinal grand cross stronger than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Cardinal T-Square w/ Saturn, Jupiter/Uranus & Pluto

Spark by Ethan via deviantart.com
For months, I've spoken of this cardinal t-square. It finally culminates in these last days of July through to August, following Saturn's return to cardinal sign, Libra and quickly opposing Uranus and Jupiter in fellow cardinal sign, Aries. All three are in a fight or flight conflict with Pluto in Capricorn, another cardinal sign, and feeling like he's shoved up against a wall with no other recourse but to push back.

This is the energy of the cardinal t-square that has been building up for months now -- a tense, do or die, tug of war between Saturn (reality/hard work), Pluto (elimination/transformation), Uranus (awakening/revolution) and Jupiter (ideals/opportunities). During the last days of July, Mars (aggression/action) joins in on the fun as he enters Libra, blends energies with Saturn and mimics the alignments Saturn makes (opposing Jupiter and Uranus while also square Pluto). And in early August, Venus (relationships/money) also enters Libra and makes the same alignments Mars will have just made with the main T-square players. This is all happening between zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs -- Aries, Libra and Capricorn. Those with natal planets or house angles within zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs experience the strain of this cardinal t-square much stronger and undeniable than others. Then on the 21st, Saturn and Pluto complete their series of challenging squares, continuing to fuel the cardinal t-square's fire.

This energy is active, dynamic and impatient. It's easy to leap without looking or take action driven by frustration/anger which are not the ideal ways to manage this energy. It can also make some buckle under the pressure and choose inaction or avoidance. Decisions or actions taken now (or not taken due to fear or laziness) have longer term effects and full impact will continue to unfold for months, maybe years to come, depending on how this cardinal t-square influences your birth chart. Measured steps and well thought out actions motivated by the goal of achieving objectives would serve us all better. While this energy has been strengthening, there should have been something within each of us that was stirred and demanded to be recognized because some things needed to change. If you have been ignoring it or had not realized the scope of its importance, now is the time to bring that issue closer to the top of your priority list. Make time to deal with it. This cardinal t-square demands action, whether it's your doing or not. It's ideal to the one initiating the changes/work to be done instead of one that's reacting to whatever is happening in your world. There are situations that will be beyond our control so, it's best to take the initiative when we can.

For me, as a cardinal Cancer-Sun, this t-square is all over my house angles (4th=the past/roots/family; 7th=partnerships/relationships; 10th=the future/goals/career). Together with eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, plus transiting Pluto's lingering opposition to my Sun and Neptune square my Neptune, 2010, to date, has been super challenging personally and professionally. This second half of the year will prove to be even more of a challenge but, in the bigger scope of things, this is kind of a turning point for me ... an ending in many ways but a beginning in even more ways. It's difficult, a little scary, sometimes confusing and can be stressful. But it's also always proven to be rewarding. I make sure to celebrate my successes because I do give myself a hard time for the mistakes along the way.

How might this cardinal t-square manifest in your world? Look to the astrological houses where zero to 4 degrees of Aries, Libra and Capricorn fall in your birth chart. Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Are you celebrating a birthday under these tense celestial skies? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Cancer-Sun Square Jupiter/Uranus & Oppose Pluto

Dark Filament of the Sun

During his first few days (June 21 to 27) transiting the usually mellow sign of Cancer, the Sun (our potential/the self) gets in a pickle with Jupiter (expands/prospers), Uranus (excites/incites) and Pluto (intensifies/transforms), as these four celestial bodies form a Cardinal T-square.

In a previous post, I described a Cardinal T-Square as follows:

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.These last days of June may be filled with tension, especially with a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn that features a Grand Cross on June 26 (which also happens to be my Solar Return, btw. nice *sarcasm*).

It is important, however, that this 'tension' is used/channeled in a way that best serves our personal lives or achieving our goals. It's easy to get angry or frustrated and lash out at someone or something or some cause. What we focus our attention on is where the energy will flow and manifest in our life. Giving our attention to what qualifies as our 'default' setting or the convenient target does not make the best use of this Cardinal T-Square/Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross energy. It is very important not to be on auto-pilot or exert our attention/energy toward anything other than what we want to manifest.

Actions taken must be the result of determined, measured and conscious decisions that work toward an objective. It would be a shame to let such an opportunistic (Jupiter), radical (Uranus), transformative (Pluto) energy that benefits the individual (Sun) go to waste. Be reminded that although events/decisions/actions are occurring now, their impact can be for the long term. Think of this energy as the opportunity for us to sow seeds that we'll be able to harvest later. Let's harvest something that's fruitful to us as individuals and as human beings.

Although we are all recipients of what this energy has to offer, early-born Cancers (June 21 to 27), Libra (September 23 to 29), Capricorn (December 22 to 28) and Aries (March 20 to 26) or those with natal planets/house angles between zero to five degrees of cardinal signs may experience this energy stronger than others. Look to astrological house/s of your natal and/or solar charts that are governed by Cancer, Capricorn and Aries to get an idea of where in your life this energy may manifest in.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets at zero to five degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Request a quote. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule a session for a Solar Return or 3-Chart Package Reading. Or you might consider giving the gift of insight.

Eclipses, Crosses, Cardinal T-Square~Jun to Aug 2010

5 Planets. Image credit & copyright to cboyzart
As an astrologer, I can't help but blog a little something about a curious series of events that will happen this summer. I'll break it down to three major events (a Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross in June, a Cardinal T-Square in July and a Cardinal Grand Cross in August) which are preceded by a couple of teaser alignments involving Jupiter (May and June). This blog post covers the introduction to these astrological events and provides a short timeline of what's to come.

First, let's start with what I mean by "cardinal force". Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are the initiators, creators, leaders of the zodiac. Cardinals conceptualize and actualize. Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) continue what cardinals have started by developing and fine-tuning details. Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) carry out what cardinals started and fixed signs established through maintenance and management. This cardinal energy this summer offers us the opportunity to re-invent the self, restructure our lives, establish a new foundation and aspire toward new goals.

The energy this summer is dynamic, tense, impatient, challenging and requires action. Choosing to let this powerful energy to pass without taking advantage of it is a waste of the loaded potential it offers. Celestial energies offered through planetary transits and alignments are like invitations. For instance, you might get three invitations this week -- attending a work-related function, a dinner date, a birthday party this weekend. You might choose to attend, decline or make a short appearance to all or any of these events you've been invited to. Energies, like invitations, are neither good nor bad but instead are neutral. How one reacts to them determines the experience one will have. This powerful cardinal force bestowed upon us this year is best handled if we know what we want and we are dedicated to seeing it through. Otherwise, the sheer force of these planetary alignments might cause us to buckle, make decisions out of haste/fear, or choose inaction/avoidance. It would be a shame to miss out on what we could have if only we were strong enough, brave enough and prepared enough.

Timeline
Late May, Jupiter in Pisces opposes Saturn in Virgo. This alignment occurs in mutable signs, but functions as a beginning of sorts for metaphorical wheels turning within the self's subconscious -- psychologically, emotionally or spiritually. Jupiter wants more, dreams big and is hopeful in Pisces. Saturn dampens dreams with reality and restrictions but only so Virgo's practicality can analyze the situation and come up with a feasible solution. Jupiter dreams of owning his own business and making millions. Saturn says, "this is what you have to work with -- financially, skills set, actual possible opportunities, time and its management and the reality of the work/commitment that lies ahead." But Jupiter is undeterred because Piscean imagination is without boundaries and has faith in possibilities. So, Saturn in Virgo kicks in, breaks it down and lays out a plan with wiggle room on what can be done.

By early June, Jupiter joins Uranus in the pioneering sign of Aries while they also blend energies. Uranus is keenly aware, progressive, innovative, unique and promotes radical change. The excitement behind these two planets and in the sign of Aries can cause eagerness and impulsiveness to get something started ... yesterday!

Before the end of June, we have a full moon eclipse belonging to the Capricorn-Cancer set of eclipses occurring on June 26 (a day before my birthday -- ouch :). This Eclipsed Full Moon in Capricorn is all tangled up in a Grand Cross (strain, action necessary) with the Sun in Cancer (potential), Mercury in Cancer (thought), Jupiter in Aries (opportunities), Saturn in Virgo (reality), Uranus in Aries (awakening) and Pluto in Capricorn (transformation). Eclipses are supercharged New and Full Moons with influence of up to six months.

Through much of July, intense energy builds until the 30th when the Cardinal T-Square culminates. This T-Square once again bring together the energies of Jupiter (opportunities), Saturn in Libra (reality), Uranus (awakening), Pluto (transformation) and adds Mars in Libra (action) to the mix. This also marks the last perfection of Saturn and Uranus opposition that began on November 4, 2008 and that most recently climaxed again on April 26, 2010.

Then finally early August comes around and another Grand Cross occurs. This time it happens in Cardinal signs with most or the same players -- Jupiter (opportunities), Saturn (reality), Uranus (awakening), Pluto (transformation) -- with the addition of the Moon in Cancer (heart), Venus (relationships) and Mars (action). Then August 21st, Saturn and Pluto will complete their series of squares that began last year on November 15, 2009 and was revisited again this year on January 31, 2010.

It's a tense and intense summer filled with challenges, as well as potential. These celestial events require the vision, commitment and initiation this year. Their actual influence and work continue on a longer term. But creating the spark to ignite the flame that could very well be a light you can use for the rest of your life, begins with making use of this cardinal force. What do you dream of? Are you committed to the task at hand despite where the journey might lead you on the way to your destination? How, then, can you begin to make your dream a reality?

Although we are all influenced by these upcoming planetary alignments, those who are early-born cardinals with their Sun between zero to 6 degrees or those who have natal planets/house angles within zero to 6 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the immediate and longterm effects of this energy strongest. Additionally, those going through their:

  • Saturn Return (born between 1982 & 1984; 1952 & 1954 and 1923 & 1925) or
  • Uranus oppose Uranus (born 1968-1975 with natal Uranus in Libra within 5 degrees) or
  • Pluto square Pluto (born 1971-1973 or 1984 with natal Pluto in Libra within 5 degrees) or
  • Chiron Return (born between 1960 - 1969 with natal Chiron within 27 degrees of Aquarius and zero degrees of Pisces)
have the extra tension of this summer's cardinal force to contend with. But this need not be something to be afraid of or be overwhelming. Just remember that "resistance is futile" :) So, work with the energy that surrounds your situation. Let the transiting planets teach you what you need to learn/accomplish and move you as you need to take actions. Be empowered. Soar.

Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 6 degrees of cardinal signs or where your natal Chiron is? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday between May and August? Interested in finding out how to make the best use of this powerful cardinal energy? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Pluto Retrograde ~ April 6 to September 14, 2010

The dwarf planet of research and delving deep goes in introspective mode on April 6. As Pluto in Capricorn turns its focus inward, he questions our structure, the very foundation that we operate from, the beliefs we hold so dear, the disciplines we practice, the principles we abide by, and that which we have always known to be our truth.

In a previous post on Pluto, I briefly explained the importance and meaning of Pluto in Capricorn:

While Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn, he will revisit the period from now through to December 2009. Perhaps, issues or events that may have first been introduced as early as the period on or around February to May 2009 may also get another look. How have things progressed since then? What's different? What's the same? Where's the hang up?

Pluto retrogrades from April 6 at 10:34 p.m. EST until September 14 at 12:37 a.m. EST. The retrograde occurs at 5 degrees back to 2 degrees of Capricorn. Early born cardinal Sun signs or Risings and those with natal planets/house angles between 2 and 5 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this retrograde stronger than others. For those with natal Pluto in the early degrees of Libra (born approximately October 1971 to April 1972; August 1972 to November 1973; March to September 1974), you're going through your Pluto square Pluto years.

For me, Pluto has been strongly opposed my Sun & square my Uranus since February; putting extra pressure to my natal 10th house Cancer-Sun that is in a tight square my Uranus (in Libra & in natal 1st). As if that's not enough, Saturn has also been square my Sun while conjunct my Uranus. Oh, I feel it, alright. "Luckily" for me, my birth chart is natively strong with Pluto and Saturn energies so, it's a "familiar" energy of delving deep, accepting harsh truths, cutting off unnecessaries and restructuring deeply rooted foundation. What's different from what I'm "familiar" with is that pressures of the square/opposition are significantly more forceful, relentless and the changes required are rooted at the core. No fixing surface cracks here, especially since this Pluto-Saturn alignments to my chart are triggering my natal t-square that has my Sun as the focal point!

How will this retrograde affect you life? Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets on or around 2-5 degrees of Capricorn? Cast your own birth chart for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.
