Saturn Direct ~ June 12, 2011

Mr. Stone Cold Reality stations direct on June 12 at 8:51 p.m. PDT / 11:51 p.m. EDT, after being retrograde since January 25th. Saturn represents our limitations, boundaries, obligations, responsibilities, challenges, and the hard work and perseverance required for success in endeavors. As written on previous Saturn posts:

Saturn, the taskmaster, teaches us lifelong karmic lessons. His approach is thorough through accepting our realities and applying disciplined, practical and hard work to rise above what limits us and be a success in our endeavors.

In the sign of Libra, Saturn's focus is on our significant relationships and the obligations that come with our commitments to them. It is the less romantic approach to love but with the lesson learned comes longevity and strength of union. The same holds true for other platonic but committed partnerships. Despite personal difficulties, hurdles to jump over, broken pieces to pick up and sweat poured from the hard work, this relationship (with a best friend, business partner, parent, sibling, etc.) endures.

While Saturn was retrograde, we may have found it difficult to move forward with our plans, especially during the station days (June 12-17) when Saturn must adjust to his change of direction/pace. Don't be frustrated. Consider that things are not moving forward as quickly as you'd like because, despite what you might believe, you or the situation may not be completely ready to move ahead. Take the opportunities presented to you, limit actions, take smaller strides, and leave negative thinking/energies behind. Saturn's actions and steps are measured which might, at times, be at the speed of molasses, but they will likely prove to be effective and successful.

On the day Saturn stations direct, the Gemini-Sun (ego/conscious will) blends energies with Mercury (thought/communication) while Venus (love/money), who is also in Gemini, makes friends with Uranus (awareness/radical change) in Aries. With the Moon also waxing for an eclipsed full moon on June 15th, things may get a bit tense and intense, especially within our significant relationships, interactions with superiors, or money matters. Watch out and avoid becoming a player in the blame game. Assess if situations truly needs action taken at the present moment; if not, opt for tackling the issues another day with, hopefully, a clearer head.

While retrograde, Saturn went back through 18 to 10 degrees of Libra, and will now revisit those degrees for a third and last time until September 21. Where do 10 to 18 degrees of Libra fall on your birth chart? Those with natal planets/house angles in Libra or cardinal signs between 10 and 18 degrees have been getting an extra workout from Saturn, especially those going through their Saturn Return! How has Saturn's retrograde cycle been for you, thus far?

Unsure where 10-18 degrees of Libra falls on your chart or whether you have natal planets/house planets between 10-18 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Jupiter Oppose Saturn ~ March 28, 2011

Image via dog.com Forum

Jupiter expands. Saturn restricts. Jupiter idealizes. Saturn realizes. Jupiter, adventurous. Saturn, pragmatic. Jupiter, gigantic and playful. Saturn, stern and determined. Now these two celestial bodies are in a tug of war one final time.

Jupiter first opposed Saturn at 28 degrees of Pisces/Virgo, respectively, on May 23, 2010. With mutable signs at the helm, their energy was demanding but not necessarily forceful as with the now cardinal energy. A few months later, they were opposite one another again in mid-August 2010 at 3 degrees with Jupiter in Aries / Saturn in Libra, and that opposition was part of the Cardinal T-Square. This t-square was at its most intense and powerfully influential period from June to August 2010, of which the longer term impact in our personal world, as well as globally, have yet to be determined.

This time around Jupiter opposes Saturn on March 28 and occurring at 15 degrees of Aries and Libra, respectively. An opposition is challenging. It's conflict. But unlike a square (as with last month's Jupiter-Pluto square), an opposition can have an ideal outcome of harmony, balance, a win-win for parties involved. What do you want? (Jupiter) What are you gonna do about it? (Saturn) It's win-win when your aspirations are grounded enough in reality and you don't allow the limitations to become a source of discouragement. Instead, you rise up to the challenge by using the knowledge of what the restrictions/blockages may be and commit yourself to the hard work ahead on the way to achieving set goals, despite how daunting going for it seems to be. Let Jupiter fuel your determination and Saturn plan your course of action.

With this Jupiter-Saturn opposition being a repeat occurrence, perhaps what was brought to light or what might have begun last year, especially between May and September, has a chance for completion now. Or maybe another look, if it's been neglected or put on hold. Or even still, perhaps it's time to take things to the next phase. However this energy may manifest in your world, it is an opportunity to bring about change/improvement to your situation. It will require commitment, perseverance, hard work and openness to new ways of thinking/communicating/doing things.

Although Jupiter and Saturn opposing each other influences us all, those with cardinal sun signs or have natal planets/house angles on or around 15 degrees of cardinal signs may experience this opposition more strongly than other.

For me as a late-decan Virgo-rising, this opposition happens in my natal 1st (self/potential where Saturn transits) vs. 7th (others/relationships where Jupiter travels) houses and as a Cancer-Sun, happens in my solar 4th (family/the past where Saturn is visiting) vs. 10th (career/the future where Jupiter transits) houses. Transits/activity in angular houses (1, 4, 7 and 10) tend to have a more forceful, powerful impact -- who we are (1st), who we are within our relationships (7th), where we've been (4th) and where we are going (10th). So, this opposition and last year's t-square, plus the Cancer-Capricorn eclipses that started in 2009 and Pluto opposing my Sun while Neptune squares my Neptune have all been rocking my world! I'm so used to my ground shifting that I wouldn't recognize stability if it fell on my head like an anvil. Okay, I wouldn't really want anything falling on me, let alone like an anvil :) But I want a win-win with this Jupiter-Saturn opposition. So, I will make an extra conscious effort to get out of my own way (1st) and really figure out what of the past remains useful (4th) and only take those going forward (10th). And note to self - Accept help when offered for no man or woman is an island (7th).

How might this opposition manifest in your world? Look to the houses where 15 degrees of Aries and Libra fall to see where in your life this energy might be experienced and whether there are links made to natal planets/house angles. Unsure where 15 degrees of Aries/Libra are on your chart or if you have natal planets/house angles around 15 degrees of cardinal signs or which signs govern your natal houses? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Saturn Retrograde ~ January 25/26 to June 13, 2011

Saturn's Rings copyright to NASA

Saturns stations on January 25 at 10:10 p.m. PST (January 26 at 1:10 a.m. EST) in preparation for retrograde motion. For the next five months, the planet of reality and restrictions turns his focus inward.

While Saturn is retrograde, we may find it difficult to move forward with our plans, especially during the station days (January 25 to February 1) when Saturn must adjust to his change of direction/pace and periods when Mercury is also retrograde (March 30 to April 23).

On the day Saturn stations retrograde, Mercury is square Saturn. When the planet of thought and communication is at odds and combative with the planet of hard work and limitations, frustrations, misunderstandings and misinterpretation of intentions may occur. It's not realistic, at least for most of us, to hide under a rock on this day and avoid interactions. It becomes necessary for each of us to be aware of our own thoughts and way of communicating with others. Are we being too stubborn or unteachable? Are we truly listening to what's being communicated to us? Are those we are communicating with being more difficult than necessary? How can we adjust our reactions/words/demeanor so that real communication/exchange of ideas can actually happen?

From January 25/26 until June 13, Saturn retraces his steps from approximately 18 degrees back to about 10 degrees of Libra; then, as he becomes direct beginning mid-June, he'll go over these degrees again for a third time until about late September. Where do 10 to 18 degrees of Libra fall in your birth chart? Those with natal planets/house angles in cardinal signs between 10 and 18 degrees

For me, 10 to 18 degrees of Libra falls in my natal 1st house (self-will/potential) and my solar 4th house (home/family). Since the zodiac sign Libra governs my natal 2nd house (income/values), Saturn's retrograde may also influence my finances and/or I may find myself redefining my personal values/self-worth. It would make sense that a long, hard look at myself (natal 1st house), especially with regards to my relationship with my family or the past/my roots (solar 4th house), may result in a change of priorities/values (natal 2nd house). Pluto remains oppose to my Sun and square my Uranus while Neptune is also square my Neptune. So, there are things I'll still need to purge (Pluto) in order for changes (Uranus) to happen and effect the needed personal growth (Sun) in my life. Neptune's influence can be confusing at times, however. So, I need to continue watching out for that As some of you may know, I moved back to my hometown where my family still lives. The last months of 2010 have been an adjustment -- making room and time for family without compromising the time/energy I need to put in to my work/my goals, etc. Because I do enjoy spending time with family, it's easy to lose sight of boundaries that are necessary to balance the self with relationships.

How might Saturn's retrograde impact your life? Look to the Libra-ruled house/s in your birth chart. Match the sign with the house cusp/s on your birth chart. Saturn Square Pluto-rx ~ August 21, 2010

Image credit & copyright to the University of Colorado

It's the final round for Saturn square Pluto. The bout between Saturn in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn first occurred on November 15, 2009, then was revisited earlier this year on January 31st, and finally, the last of their knock down, drag out fight happens on August 21st.

One big difference with their beat down this time around is that the culmination of square is a part of an ongoing Cardinal T-square that's been building since late May. This makes their fight or flight energy even more incontrovertible and urgent.

Saturn remains in a tight opposition with Jupiter in Aries, who also tightly squares Pluto. This Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto alignments form a Cardinal T-square. As explained in a previous post,

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two or more planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between at least two planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.In this case, something's got to give (Pluto as the focal point of t-square) in order to satisfy both our ideals/aspirations (Jupiter) and our reality/restrictions (Saturn).

Per my original Saturn square Pluto post:Saturn's focus in Libra is our relationships -- relating to partners, lovers, others. In Capricorn, Pluto takes a look at structure, foundation, and proven methods that may no longer be applicable to present life and living. Just because something has always been doesn't mean it should always be. There is no progress and no personal growth in keeping antiquated ways, ideas, values, and rules.

With Saturn and Pluto warring in the sky above us, we are forced to take a serious look at our relationships and/or what we hold on to for the sake of familiarity or even fear of the unknown, should we ever let go. In our waking world, tensions rise. We argue. We fight. We remain frustrated. Something has to give. Perhaps that something lies within us. Perhaps the first step depends upon the self.

Saturn disciplines us through restrictions while Pluto deepens our understanding through unearthing secrets; secrets others keep from us or ones we hide from the self because maybe, they are too difficult to accept. Between Saturn showing us our realities, Pluto revealing hidden truths and this energy lingering for several months, there will undoubtedly be global effects of this alignment. On a personal level, however, expect to get to the nitty gritty, purge the unnecessaries, and arrive at a destination breathing in new life as a newer, stronger, more improved version of the self.

Although we are all influenced by their square, those with natal planets or house angles on or around 3 degrees of cardinal signs (especially in Capricorn) and those going through their Saturn Return (ending of one life cycle & beginning of next) or Solar Return (personal year) may experience their energy stronger than most.

Look to the houses governed by Libra and Capricorn in your birth chart. Match the signs and degrees to get an idea of how their square/cardinal t-square might have an impact on you. Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets at 3 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule your session for a Saturn Return (ending one life cycle & entering into the next), Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Cardinal Grand Cross ~ August 6/7, 2010

Image credit & copyright to Mike McDonaldThe Cardinal T-square has been in full force since Saturn (reality/hard work) returned to Libra on July 21st, then followed by Mars (aggression/action) entering Libra on July 29th, and soon Venus (relationships/worth) will join the cardinal party when she transits her home sign, Libra, beginning on August 6th. This cardinal t-square currently involves Saturn (and soon Venus) in Libra opposing Uranus and Jupiter in Aries; and all are putting an extreme amount of pressure against Pluto in Capricorn who may be having a difficult time catching his breath as he feels the squeeze. Those who are early-born December Capricorns or June Cancers (also, early degree Capricorn/Cancer risings) may feel this energy stronger than others.

As I've mentioned before, this cardinal energy climaxing now has been brewing since late May starting with Uranus' entrance in Aries and its influence is long term. This cardinal force's impact on us, as individuals and as people sharing a world together, will continue to unfold for months/years to come.

Now, adding to the strain of this Cardinal T-square to form a Cardinal Grand Cross is the Moon's (heart/inner drives) transit in her home sign of Cancer during the early degrees, just as Venus also begins her transit in fellow cardinal sign, Libra. This occurs around August 6 or 7 depending on where in the world you're located.

I've previously explained what a Grand Cross is on a post for the recent Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on June 26:

A Grand Cross is a combination of (at least) four squares and (at least) two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two (or more) celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. With the addition of the Cancer-Moon and Libra-Venus in the mix, much of the focus during this first full week of August may involve our relationships (of all types including that which we have with the self), as well as our material and self worth. It may be time to take an honest look at our attachments, may they be with people, material things, ideologies, memories, old ways/methods, etc. Attachments that take an active part in our daily lives through the decisions we make or avoid having to make and actions we take or choose not to take. It's also an ideal time to become conscious/aware of that which we choose to bury beneath the surface for fear of what acknowledging it/them might mean. These are challenging times regardless of whether we choose to live consciously or on auto-pilot. Wouldn't it be better to take control of the life we lead by grabbing the wheel, working with the energies, achieving personal goals and growing as individuals?

A New Moon in Leo occurs on Monday, August 9, just a few days after this cardinal grand cross. This Leo-New Moon phase is a great period renewals ... beginnings. Work through what you must, what the tense celestial energies are urging you to; then, use the New Moon phase to help with initiating what's to be done or what's next or whatever/wherever in your life you could use a clean slate.

For me as a Cancer-Sun at 5 degrees, transiting Pluto has been playing tug of war with my Sun all year and will continue to do so through to next year. With Pluto being the focal point of this cardinal t-square, by extension, my Sun also feels a little beat up. The Cancer-Moon in this cardinal grand cross gets cozy with my Sun. Will this blending of heart (Moon) and soul (Sun) help clarify what's been eluding me, identify what's needs pinpointing and/or soften/lighten the strain of this celestial influence against my birth chart? We'll see...

In addition to Capricorns & Cancers born within the first 4 degrees or those with Ascendants within the early degrees, Cardinal Suns/Risings plus those with natal planets/house angles between zero & 4 degrees of cardinal signs are sure to feel the energy of this cardinal t-square and cardinal grand cross stronger than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Are you celebrating birthday? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Cardinal T-Square w/ Saturn, Jupiter/Uranus & Pluto

Spark by Ethan via deviantart.com
For months, I've spoken of this cardinal t-square. It finally culminates in these last days of July through to August, following Saturn's return to cardinal sign, Libra and quickly opposing Uranus and Jupiter in fellow cardinal sign, Aries. All three are in a fight or flight conflict with Pluto in Capricorn, another cardinal sign, and feeling like he's shoved up against a wall with no other recourse but to push back.

This is the energy of the cardinal t-square that has been building up for months now -- a tense, do or die, tug of war between Saturn (reality/hard work), Pluto (elimination/transformation), Uranus (awakening/revolution) and Jupiter (ideals/opportunities). During the last days of July, Mars (aggression/action) joins in on the fun as he enters Libra, blends energies with Saturn and mimics the alignments Saturn makes (opposing Jupiter and Uranus while also square Pluto). And in early August, Venus (relationships/money) also enters Libra and makes the same alignments Mars will have just made with the main T-square players. This is all happening between zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs -- Aries, Libra and Capricorn. Those with natal planets or house angles within zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs experience the strain of this cardinal t-square much stronger and undeniable than others. Then on the 21st, Saturn and Pluto complete their series of challenging squares, continuing to fuel the cardinal t-square's fire.

This energy is active, dynamic and impatient. It's easy to leap without looking or take action driven by frustration/anger which are not the ideal ways to manage this energy. It can also make some buckle under the pressure and choose inaction or avoidance. Decisions or actions taken now (or not taken due to fear or laziness) have longer term effects and full impact will continue to unfold for months, maybe years to come, depending on how this cardinal t-square influences your birth chart. Measured steps and well thought out actions motivated by the goal of achieving objectives would serve us all better. While this energy has been strengthening, there should have been something within each of us that was stirred and demanded to be recognized because some things needed to change. If you have been ignoring it or had not realized the scope of its importance, now is the time to bring that issue closer to the top of your priority list. Make time to deal with it. This cardinal t-square demands action, whether it's your doing or not. It's ideal to the one initiating the changes/work to be done instead of one that's reacting to whatever is happening in your world. There are situations that will be beyond our control so, it's best to take the initiative when we can.

For me, as a cardinal Cancer-Sun, this t-square is all over my house angles (4th=the past/roots/family; 7th=partnerships/relationships; 10th=the future/goals/career). Together with eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, plus transiting Pluto's lingering opposition to my Sun and Neptune square my Neptune, 2010, to date, has been super challenging personally and professionally. This second half of the year will prove to be even more of a challenge but, in the bigger scope of things, this is kind of a turning point for me ... an ending in many ways but a beginning in even more ways. It's difficult, a little scary, sometimes confusing and can be stressful. But it's also always proven to be rewarding. I make sure to celebrate my successes because I do give myself a hard time for the mistakes along the way.

How might this cardinal t-square manifest in your world? Look to the astrological houses where zero to 4 degrees of Aries, Libra and Capricorn fall in your birth chart. Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Are you celebrating a birthday under these tense celestial skies? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Saturn Oppose Uranus at Aries Point ~ July 26, 2010

Saturn returns to the relationships sign, Libra, on July 21 and while at Aries Point opposes Uranus, who is also at Aries Point in Aries. Their opposition perfects on July 26 and is the final installment of a series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions which first culminated on November 4, 2008, then again on February 5 and September 15, 2009, and followed by April 26, 2010. Whatever may have begun or initiated, as early as 2008, culminates during this last meeting between Saturn (old) and Uranus (new), two polarizing energies that seeks balance between getting rid of the old and adopting the new.

This time, however, the element surrounding their challenging alignment is cardinal energy and at Aries Point. Cardinal signs take action; their energy leads, creates and initiates. Here, esteemed astrologer, Celeste Teal, explains the term "Aries Point":

The true Aries Point degree is 0 Aries, however, the 0 degree of the four Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are all referred to as Aries Point degrees. This beginning degree of the Cardinal signs has similar connotations to the angles of a chart and is an indicator of eventful times when occupied by a planet or found on a house cusp. These points are indicative of a spectacular out rush of energies. There is frequently an involvement with the world at large. Outsiders or those who’re considered an expert in some area becomes involved in one’s personal matters. Ramifications of events often have a domino effect into each personal area of the life as represented by these four Cardinal points: personal, family, relationships and status. This is Saturn's third pass through Libra at Aries Point. Previous dates include last year on October 29 to November 8, 2009 and earlier this year from March 26 to April 7, 2010. Perhaps, third time's a charm. Should you find unresolved issues or events from either or both those periods recurring in your world while Saturn is at zero degree of Libra again (this time from July 21 to August 2, 2010), don't despair but do take action. You are most likely being offered a chance to finally repair or resolve the situation. This could also be a time when you're able to reflect upon that period and see how far you've come...a final look back, maybe. However, Saturn's return to Libra at Aries Point may manifest in your world, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus is about giving up the old and obsolete for the new and applicable with the ultimate goal of improvement for the majority.

In Libra, Saturn's focus is on relationships ~ with others, another or even the self. Saturn shows us the reality of our situation, no matter how painfully difficult it is to see the truth. It is our job to face such truths and accept our reality in our most sober state. In Aries, Uranus' focus is on the self ~ becoming conscious of its potential, being driven to achieve. Uranus is the awakener and, once 'awakened', is unstoppable from forging ahead making changes ... even at any cost. Where in your life have you been asleep? or running on auto-pilot? What in your life are you ready to break away from? to revolutionize?

This Saturn-Uranus opposition is part of a greater force occurring this period. Since May with Uranus and Jupiter collaborating together, then each leaving Pisces to enter Aries and finally perfecting their alliance early June, cardinal forces have been gaining momentum and intensifying the impatient, sometimes frustrated, energy surrounding us. The Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross late June released a bit of that tension. Now, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus takes part in a Cardinal T-square where Pluto in Capricorn is the focal point, creating a sense of being pushed up against a wall and forced to make a move ... any movement, in any direction, just to lighten the forceful tension (cardinal t-square article to follow). In a previous post, I described a Cardinal T-Square as: A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.
Whatever changes (in our external world, within our emotional state, spiritual realm or psychological plane) may be necessary can now be definitively decided upon and acted upon. Steps taken while under this active cardinal energy have lasting effects and full impact may continue to manifest for months, even years, to come. The key is awareness of truth (Uranus), commitment to make the changes for improvement (Saturn), balance between the old but still useful and the new that replaces what's antiquated (opposition) and action/doing what needs to be done (t-square).

Although we are all recipients of what this energy has to offer, early-born cardinal signs may experience this energy stronger than others. Also, those with natal Saturn at zero degree in Libra may get an extra dose of this energy, for they will also be going through their Saturn Return. And those celebrating their birthday in July, especially after July 21st, are in for an amazing, challenging personal year ahead, as their Solar Return occurs at the height of this Cardinal T-square energy.

Look to the astrological house/s where zero degree of Libra and Aries fall in your natal and/or solar charts to get an idea of where in your life this opposition's energy may manifest in. Don't have your natal chart handy? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Request a quote. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule a session for a Solar Return, Saturn Return or 3-Chart Package Reading. Or you might consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Saturn Re-enters Libra ~ July 21, 2010 to Oct. 5, 2012

scales tattoo

Saturn leaves Virgo for the last time and re-enters Libra on July 21 at 11:10 a.m. (EST). He won't return to the sign of Virgo for another 28 or so years. This should make any Virgo or Virgo-rising a happy camper, especially late-born Virgos or third decan Virgo-risings.

Saturn initially entered Libra on October 29, 2009, stayed through April 7, 2010 then returned to Virgo during his retrograde cycle. From July 21st through much of August, Saturn retraces his steps from November 2009 through mid-January 2010. Don't be surprised if issues or events occurring presently are either linked or reminiscent to that period. The rest of July and August are ideal to find a resolution, tie up any loose ends and finally break from past events or situations should you find yourself "reliving" late last year.

Per my original Saturn in Libra post, I described this Saturn transit as:

Saturn is said to be exalted (best placement; greatest strength) in Libra. Saturn is the taskmaster of the zodiac whose karmic lessons, once learned, remain with each of us throughout our lives. He represents reality, challenges, structure, foundation, obstacles, hard work, obligations, restrictions, and limitations. He is cold, distant, stoic, determined, persistent ... all business. His function, as he transits through the houses of our birth charts, is to teach us our life lessons.

Libra governs partnerships, relationships, and the ties that bind us through commitment. By nature, Libra is objective, fair-minded, logical, social, charming, friendly, peaceable, seeks balance, and appreciates the aesthetic beauty in its surroundings. Saturn in Libra teaches us about the challenges in relationships, the commitment and work required for healthy connections, the equality and justice within our partnerships, and the objectivity that is sometimes needed especially when passions, emotions and righteousness arise.

On the day Saturn re-enters Libra, he immediately opposes Uranus (awakening) and Jupiter (opportunities) while also square Pluto (transformation); and, in doing so, activates the Cardinal T-square that has been a-brewin' since late May. I've previously describe this t-square energy as:A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two or more celestial bodies. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything. While Saturn opposes both Uranus and Jupiter and squares Pluto, Pluto is also square Jupiter and Uranus. whew! Dizzy yet? Pluto is the focal point of this impatient, dynamic energy. Whatever realities Saturn whips us with, we are both excited and apprehensive about the changes we long for. Pluto urges us to eliminate and lighten our load, so to speak, as we determine what it is we want to work towards or decide where we want to go from here.

With Uranus at play, expect the unexpected. Be flexible for the element of surprise. Keep awareness levels high as Jupiter, while still collaborating with Uranus, may offer help or open doors and give opportunities through unlikely sources or packaged in something not expected. Saturn and Pluto energies can be harsh and demanding, but it is best to work with their energies instead of against it; and it will not help to ignore them either. Those with their natal Saturn in Libra between zero and 4 degrees will also be going through their Saturn Return while this wild, craaaazzzzy energy is also going on. And those celebrating their birthday on or around July 21st should have an exciting year ahead, as their Solar Return (astrological birthday) occurs while this cardinal climax is happening.

    Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn ~ June 26, 2010

Image credit & copyright to Gain Lee

Whew... Time for another eclipse again? It's an extra trying one this time. The Capricorn-Lunar eclipse further stimulates the tension surrounding cardinal energies as it conjuncts Pluto and activates a Grand Cross involving the Sun (conscious will), Mercury (thought), Jupiter (opportunities), Uranus (radical change), the Moon (internal drives) and Saturn (restrictions) - with the exception of Saturn, who is making his way back to Libra, all are within 5 degrees of cardinal signs. We will no doubt experience the impact of this eclipse for months/years to come, in our personal lives as well as globally.

So, what does it all mean though -- Eclipse, conjunct Pluto, Grand Cross? We'll start with eclipses. Eclipses are supercharged full and new moons with influence extending up to six months. Full Moons signify endings, the culmination of what may been initiated during the previous New Moon in Gemini which encouraged us to expand our minds, improve our internal dialog & external conversations and shift our perspective to 'see' the bigger point of view. Per my original post on understanding eclipses:

Eclipses, in astrology, are accelerators. They speed up events, issues, situations in our personal lives and demand for them to be dealt with.

Eclipses trigger necessary changes to one's journey in life. Because these changes are triggered outside of one's own volition, they are often harsh, sudden and undeniable. The initial shock evoke sadness, confusion, frustration, anger, worry and, possibly, depression. However, it is our reaction past the initial shock that defines how we will allow these eclipses to influence us.

A Grand Cross is a combination of four squares and two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies.

As if the energies of an Eclipse and Cross were not enough, this Capricorn-full moon conjoins with Pluto. Pluto represents rebirth, regeneration and transformation. He is our compulsions, obsessions, ability for control and empowerment. Pluto gives us the power to tackle obstacles in life through deeply understanding our situations, which results in our letting go and being transformed in the process. Pluto's process usually brings endings, purging, destruction, complete annihilation of what no longer works before a renewal can occur. With the eclipsed moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, issues regarding security, material or otherwise, may arise -- what makes us feel secure and how we react when our security is threatened. We may assess what we do, hold on to, practice or believe in that no longer reflects our current life, our present self, our present drives. We may find ourselves establishing or reevaluating our goals/aspirations and define what the necessary steps are toward achieving them, including what we must sacrifice or let go of. These are just a few examples of how this eclipse may influence us. However the energies of this eclipse may manifest in your world, it can never be stressed enough that 'resistance is futile' :) We must learn to work with the energy with conscious intentionality, no matter the difficulty.

On the opposite end where the Cancer-Sun is, Mercury is conjunct the Sun while the Eclipsed Moon and Pluto both oppose Mercury, along with the Sun. Mercury governs how we think, process information, talk, communicate and interact with others. At first glance or immediate reaction, our minds are overwhelmed by both the eclipsed Moon and Pluto. We may overreact, internally or mentally panic, and unable to think clearly or in logical terms. Cancerian influence on the Sun and Mercury may cause raw, emotional reactions.

Elsewhere in the sky, Jupiter (optimism) and Uranus (the unexpected) remain in a close conjunction while Saturn (reality) and Neptune (dreams) are uncomfortably frustrating each other. So although Neptune is attuned to what our dreams may be, Saturn is working extra hard laying out the harsh truth of whatever our situation/s entail. This combination can be give a sobering effect; and if we can get past the depressing state of our affairs, we can focus our attention on what we can do to improve our situation. With Jupiter and Uranus still collaborating, we may remain eager and optimistic or we may catch a break or, at the very least, find solace/support in the least likely places or sources.

This Lunar Eclipse happens on June 26 at 7:30 a.m. EST at 4 degrees and 50 minutes in Capricorn. Those with natal planets/house angles within 5 degrees of cardinal signs will more strongly feel the impact of this eclipse, presently and in the future, more so than others. Capricorn-Suns born on or around December 26 will have this eclipsed Moon and Pluto conjunct their natal Sun and would definitely feel the impact of this eclipse in the days approaching the eclipse, as well as the longer term. Those celebrating a birthday within 3 days of June 26, prepare for an amazing, challenging and life-altering birthday year. I offer Solar Return readings, if you're interested.

Gifted Tarotist and Astrologer, Suzi Dronzek of starcana.com, posted a Tarot Affirmation on the Eight of Cups for Detachment and Cutting Ties at the AstroCreeps and TarotFreaks Blog. This may be a helpful exercise should you realize that there is a need for you to purge.

For me, as a Cancer-Sun, this eclipse actually falls a few hours before my Solar Return. Ouch! Even if I wanted to hide under a rock until next year, the universe would find a way get me out of said rock and force me to deal. So, I choose to not hide but instead willingly take up the challenge set before me. I am, after all, ready for the miracle of my life, right? Or I better be. Life, as I know it today, changes dramatically and my degree of resistance is directly related to the degree of difficulty I will face. As a Virgo-rising with my Pluto also rising, I'm somewhat of a planner and, to some degree, have to be a few steps ahead at any given time. That will be put to the test, and I have to be able to be more okay with a greater degree of uncertainty. I'm not so okay thinking about it now, but I better be soon :) I know what I can't control. I know where my limitations lie. But I also know I have control over, and I'm clever and resourceful enough to work with or around whatever restrictions there are.

    Saturn Direct ~ May 30, 2010

After being retrograde since January 13, Saturn stations on May 30 to begin direct movement. He is currently in Virgo, after having returned on April 17. However, Saturn will re-enter Libra on July 21 to stay until October 2012.

While retrograde, Saturn's focus was turned inward and we may have found difficulty getting our plans to move ahead or had to get through more obstacles/delays than anticipated. Saturn is the taskmaster of the zodiac. He teaches us lifelong, karmic lessons. He is disciplined, pragmatic and a hard worker. By showing us our limitations, obligations and the realities of our situations, he enables us to find a way work through them, around them or with them so we can achieve our objectives. In Virgo, he is analytical, meticulous, a perfectionist, a list maker, critical, nervous, practical and adaptable. As he begins moving direct again, we're able to move forward taking measured steps and well thought out actions, finally making a dent on our to-do list. Virgos born on or around September 20 may feel the effects of Saturn direction change.

Upon re-entering Libra on July 21, Saturn will trigger the powerful cardinal force when he joins Uranus/Jupiter in Aries and Pluto, who will continue to be retrograde in Capricorn, in a forming a Cardinal T-Square (which is a combination of 2 squares & an opposition in cardinal signs). Square=conflict; the need for action, to manifest something into the tangible world; opposition=tug of war, requiring balance between opposing sides. Cardinal signs embody independence, self-motivation, ambition and are often initiators, leaders. This cardinal t-square is an active energy that requires movement on our part. We cannot be lazy. We must act for if we ignore it, we may find ourselves reacting to what is manifesting around us instead of having some control on the what and when of things.

Tensions run high within the next few months. This cardinal energy is an impatient but dynamic energy that requires action. Allow Saturn's direct movement in Virgo to pave the way toward helping manage however the cardinal energy may be manifesting in your world.

Elsewhere in the sky, only a few days before Saturn's direction change, Uranus entered Aries on May 27 which also stimulates the upcoming cardinal climax occurring in July and August, even if its effects/influence felt long after those two months. Jupiter will soon follow Uranus and also enter Aries on June 6. But before that Neptune joins Pluto in retrograde motion beginning next week on May 31, helping us get to the root of whatever it is we are seeking to know.

    Jupiter Oppose Saturn-rx ~ May 23, 2010

Our solar system's two biggest gas giants meet in an opposition on May 23rd in the last degrees of Pisces (Jupiter) and Virgo (Saturn). Jupiter hasn't been in Pisces since 1997-1998. Saturn, however, is still retrograde and now revisits October 2009. Some issues, events or situations you're dealing with now may be reminiscent or even linked to last fall. This presents an opportunity for closure or movement, if blockages have been met, or clarity, if necessary information has been missing.

In addition, just last month on April 26, Saturn opposed Uranus, and we remain under the umbrella of that opposition now as Saturn finds himself opposed to Jupiter. It's almost as if the opposition between Jupiter and Saturn picks up, supports, or reenergizes the opposition between Saturn and Uranus while Jupiter and Uranus strengthen their growing alliance which perfects on June 6. The current tension between Jupiter and Saturn may provide the necessary insight, push or opportunity to move forward with whatever's been started.

Jupiter is the planet of luck, bliss, opportunities, ideals and, in general, expansion. Whatever you have or may be offered or can conceptualized or able to produce, Jupiter expands. Saturn is the planet of reality, hard work, obligations, and, in general, restriction. Whatever your situation may be or possible opportunities you may be offered or aspirations you may have, Saturn restricts by showing you the reality of the situation. So what happens when the planet of expansion is at opposing sides with the planet of restriction? Ahhh, therein lies the conundrum :)

It's really not much of a rub, though. Dreams, aspirations, goals -- they aren't tangible and tend to remain in the realm of our minds and hearts. Saturn gives our dreams legs to stand on -- he reaches from the deepest parts of the self that desires and brings out those desires to be dealt with in the visible world. How can it be a possibility? What makes it impossible? What resources can you use now? What would you need help with? How might you get that help? What kind of timeframe do you want and what do you realistically have to work with? Saturn hammers it down to manageable, measurable steps. In Virgo, Saturn breaks it down to the details, anticipates pitfalls and analyzes situations with precision. So, dream big with Jupiter; in Pisces, keep hope alive. But get down to business with Saturn.

The opposition between Jupiter and Saturn occurs at 28 degrees of Pisces and Virgo, respectively. Although we are all influenced by this rare alignment, those with natal planets or house angles on or around 28 degrees of mutable signs may feel the affect more strongly than others.

For me, this opposition hits me in a similar fashion as last month's Saturn-Uranus opposition. The opposition stimulates the same spot in my birth chart:

[It] touches my Neptune (what's hidden) adding to Pluto (purging) currently opposing my Sun (conscious will); and by summertime, Saturn (reality) will square (struggle with) my Sun, intensifying the existing Pluto opposition. All the while, Neptune squares my Neptune (ouch). The difference is that Jupiter reminds me of my goals and gives me back some optimism I may have lost a little since getting down and dirty in Saturn's mucky world of reality and restrictions. I regain the vision, get excited again and re-commit to the work ahead. Change isn't easy but necessary. I'm up for the challenge :)

What are your aspirations? How might this Jupiter-Saturn opposition influence your life? Look to the part of your chart that houses 28 degrees of Virgo and Pisces and/or check for natal planets or house angles on or around 28 degrees of mutable signs to get an idea. Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

I am also available for personal readings. Is today your birthday? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs.
