Venus in Libra ~ August 6 to September 8, 2010

Uma Thurman as Venus in 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen'

Venus, the planet of love and money, joins Mars (aggression/action) and Saturn (restrictions/reality) in Libra on August 6, where she remains until September 8. Yey for Librans! Hopefully, Venus' presence helps lift Saturn's heavy hand and loosen Mars' grip.

Venus governs love, relationships of all types (including that with the self), our values/value system, our tastes (likes/dislikes), and our material and self worth. In Virgo, Venus is demure, exacting, analytical and practical. In Libra, Venus is social, accommodating, objective and fair-minded. At best, Venus in Libra is balanced, elegant, affectionate, popular, and has an artful eye for the aesthetic beauty in things. At worst, indecisive, narcissistic, bossy, vain, gives in too often, and an intellectual or social snob.

Venus in Libra reminds us that we are creatures that need connections -- may they be passing, lasting, intense, low-key, intimate, platonic, or whatever else. Our relationships help shape the person we are presently, who we are becoming and how we grow on a personal level. Libra-Venus also reminds that putting another's needs before our own or seeing another's point of view do not diminish our own needs or opinions. It simply redefines our priorities to include another or offers us a more complete picture of the situation.

During the first few days when Venus transits Libra, she further stimulates the already energized cardinal force currently at work; and on August 6/7, when the Moon is also in the first few degrees of fellow cardinal sign, Cancer, a Cardinal Grand Cross forms between Saturn/Venus in Libra, Uranus (awakening)/Jupiter (ideals) in Aries, Pluto (purging) in Capricorn and the Moon (emotional nature) in Cancer. These astrological alignments can be a challenging one -- with a tug of war (opposition) between Pluto with the Moon and Saturn/Venus with Uranus/Jupiter, while at the same time Pluto & the Moon also in conflict (square) with Saturn/Venus and Uranus/Jupiter.

Harmony/compromise/balance are required between external goals with internal drives and pushing for the needs/desires of the self vs. accommodating to the needs/desires of another/others. The square/conflict requires action, whether or not it's of your own doing. So, it's best to face challenges, lest decisions/actions are made for you and you are left to react (with little to no control of) what's going on. Being passive and waiting things out would not be a useful tactic during this period when powerful cardinal forces are at the helm. Those who are celebrating a birthday this weekend is up for an amazing year...challenging, but also exciting.

While Venus is in Libra, she will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • August 7 to 9 ~ Venus oppose Uranus-rx & Jupiter-rx; conjunct Saturn; and square Pluto-rx. covered above
  • August 20 ~ Venus conjunct Mars. Normally, a happy, joyous meeting between Venus and Mars, but with Saturn and Pluto in conflict, things can get heated quickly and rationale might just go out the door. Or in an attempt to avoid confrontations, escaping, denial or avoidance may be on the agenda for today. But it's best to meet challenges head on and motivations driven by objectively finding a solution.
  • September 4 & 5 ~ Venus trine Neptune-rx and Chiron-rx. Chance to heal old wounds. Opportunity to help another or others. Kindness. Compassion. Letting go. Release. Objective approach to finding solution to problems.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Mars in Libra ~ July 29 to September 14, 2010

Mars joins Saturn in the sign of Libra on July 29 at 7:46 p.m. EST and will stay through September 14. Mars is the planet of action, energy and movement. He represents our physical drives, aggression, passions, anger, self-assertion, confidence and the motivation behind our efforts.

In Virgo, where Mars has been transiting for the past six weeks, his temperament is moderate but discriminating, actions are measured and meticulous, and decisions are well-planned, having been analyzed to the detail. In Libra, Mars is more accommodating and gives more latitude to those he encounters. At best, Mars in Libra is objective and motivated by keeping harmony, being just and fair, and putting another/others' needs/concerns before one's own. At worst, indecisive, unfocused, does extra unnecessary work when being direct might be the better approach, easily swayed, and can be gullible.

Libra governs partnerships, relationships, and the ties that bind us through commitment. By nature, Libra is objective, fair-minded, logical, social, charming, friendly, peaceable, seeks balance, and appreciates the aesthetic beauty in its surroundings. While Mars is in Libra, we are reminded to arrive at decisions by being objective and seeking to hear/see all sides of any situation first before making any judgements. We are encouraged to find solutions through peaceful means, being assertive with little to no aggression, and that resolutions can be arrived at through diplomacy and communication.

During Mars' first few days in Libra, he joins in on the already forceful, tense and undeniable Cardinal T-square energy between Saturn (also in Libra), Jupiter and Uranus (in Aries) and Pluto (in Capricorn). Full impact of this cardinal alignment/energy/influence will continue to unfold in the weeks, months, years to come.

Those with their natal Mars in Libra have their Mars Return this year. That's great news, especially with the cardinal t-square culminating at the end of July with influence remaining strong through most of August. You can really make some headway with personal ventures. Astrologer, Celeste Teal, defines Mars Return as:

the beginning of a new cycle involving personal initiative and important new undertakings. Mars' return to its natal place occurs approximately every two years, and the time of the return will generally find one in the midst of assertive activity of one sort or another.
While in Libra, Mars will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • July 30 to 31 ~ Mars oppose Uranus-rx and conjunct Saturn. Frustration. You want to but you can't. You need to but you're limited. Progress moving too slow for your expectations. Impatience can cause hasty decisions or actions which can only lead to more problems later on. Focus energy on what can be done right now; if that means making plans of future action items.
  • August 3/4~ Mars oppose Jupiter-rx and square Pluto-rx. Clear the air. Fight for your beliefs/cause. It isn't always about right or wrong; sometimes, it's about what the best course of action is for the situation at hand and the available resources within the time frame involved.
Also, occurring around this time is the final installation of Saturn square Pluto-rx.
  • September 9 to 11 ~ Mars trine Neptune-rx and Chiron-rx. Understanding. Forgiveness. Taking the high road. Not giving in when being baited. Paying it forward by helping another/others. Kindness and compassion.
  • September 13 ~ Mars quincunx Jupiter-rx and Uranus-rx. Easy to get caught up in the excitement of it all. Keep objectives clear so, actions are not scattered or wasted on unnecessary work.

Mercury in Virgo ~ July 27 to October 3, 2010

Winged Mercury via Spark68 Flickr

After two and a half long years, Saturn leaves Virgo (on July 21). A few days later, Mercury joins Venus (until August 6) and Mars (until July 29) in Virgo. In the analytical and practical sign of Virgo, Mercury is dignified by rulership (Virgo is governed by Mercury) and by exaltation (best placement for optimum potential). Things are really looking up for Virgo-Suns and risings. Yey!

Mercury transits Virgo on July 27 at 5:43 p.m. EST and stays through October 3. While in Virgo, Mercury retrogrades from August 20 to September 12 and retraces his steps from 19 degrees, all the way back to 5 degrees and then back again. The complete retrograde cycle with the shadow period is July 31 to September 27.

Mercury governs all manners of thinking, communicating, transportation, and commerce. In Virgo, Mercury is analytical, discriminating, detailed, mentally organized and practical. His transit in Virgo is an ideal period to take advantage of focusing on the day to day, getting those minute everyday details under control, and taken care of. The mundane chores that leave little to be desired but require handling and completion are what we need to tackle these next few weeks. This is also a period ideal for planning, especially while retrograde. Time to fine-tune ideas or tweak the step by step detailed action plan. In Virgo, Mercury's organized and practical mind can draw up plans with exacting details and alternate avenues to take for anticipated obstacles.

On the day Mercury enters Virgo, he forms a fatefully frustrating alignment with Uranus. The key is adjustment. Mercury in Virgo needs tangible proof, a logical train of thought, reason that explains what is what or why things are. This link to Uranus challenges Virgo-Mercury to think outside the box, see beyond what's tangible and understand that the inexplicable but true also exists. The answer, clarity, insight or resolution may lie in the realm of becoming conscious of the unknown which exists all the same.

While in Virgo, Mercury will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • July 27 ~ Mercury quincunx Uranus-rx. covered above. Also today, lingering Saturn-Uranus Opposition triggering Cardinal T-square and cardinal climax.
  • July 30 ~ Mercury trine Pluto-rx and quincunx Jupiter-rx. There might just be a way to have your cake and eat it too. Think hard. Really concentrate. You'll need to adjust your point of view or consider that there is still an avenue you have not considered.
  • August 20 ~ Mercury Retrograde at 12:59 p.m. PST / 3:59 p.m. EST
  • September 3 ~ Mercury-rx conjunct Sun. Choose words wisely. Ensure what you want to communicate is being conveyed by the most appropriate word you can use. In Virgo, it's easy to judge and make critical comments. It's never easy to take spoken words back.
  • September 12 ~ Mercury Direct at 4:09 p.m. PST / 7:09 p.m. EST
  • October 1 & 2 ~ Mercury quincunx Chiron-rx & Neptune-rx; and oppose Jupiter-rx & Uranus-rx. Seek truth. Become consciously aware of what lies in the subconscious. Make a difference even through small acts. Entertain ideas that aims to help others. Healing. Release. Letting go. Breaking away. Pushing for independence. Opting for solitude.

Cardinal T-Square w/ Saturn, Jupiter/Uranus & Pluto

Spark by Ethan via deviantart.com
For months, I've spoken of this cardinal t-square. It finally culminates in these last days of July through to August, following Saturn's return to cardinal sign, Libra and quickly opposing Uranus and Jupiter in fellow cardinal sign, Aries. All three are in a fight or flight conflict with Pluto in Capricorn, another cardinal sign, and feeling like he's shoved up against a wall with no other recourse but to push back.

This is the energy of the cardinal t-square that has been building up for months now -- a tense, do or die, tug of war between Saturn (reality/hard work), Pluto (elimination/transformation), Uranus (awakening/revolution) and Jupiter (ideals/opportunities). During the last days of July, Mars (aggression/action) joins in on the fun as he enters Libra, blends energies with Saturn and mimics the alignments Saturn makes (opposing Jupiter and Uranus while also square Pluto). And in early August, Venus (relationships/money) also enters Libra and makes the same alignments Mars will have just made with the main T-square players. This is all happening between zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs -- Aries, Libra and Capricorn. Those with natal planets or house angles within zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs experience the strain of this cardinal t-square much stronger and undeniable than others. Then on the 21st, Saturn and Pluto complete their series of challenging squares, continuing to fuel the cardinal t-square's fire.

This energy is active, dynamic and impatient. It's easy to leap without looking or take action driven by frustration/anger which are not the ideal ways to manage this energy. It can also make some buckle under the pressure and choose inaction or avoidance. Decisions or actions taken now (or not taken due to fear or laziness) have longer term effects and full impact will continue to unfold for months, maybe years to come, depending on how this cardinal t-square influences your birth chart. Measured steps and well thought out actions motivated by the goal of achieving objectives would serve us all better. While this energy has been strengthening, there should have been something within each of us that was stirred and demanded to be recognized because some things needed to change. If you have been ignoring it or had not realized the scope of its importance, now is the time to bring that issue closer to the top of your priority list. Make time to deal with it. This cardinal t-square demands action, whether it's your doing or not. It's ideal to the one initiating the changes/work to be done instead of one that's reacting to whatever is happening in your world. There are situations that will be beyond our control so, it's best to take the initiative when we can.

For me, as a cardinal Cancer-Sun, this t-square is all over my house angles (4th=the past/roots/family; 7th=partnerships/relationships; 10th=the future/goals/career). Together with eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, plus transiting Pluto's lingering opposition to my Sun and Neptune square my Neptune, 2010, to date, has been super challenging personally and professionally. This second half of the year will prove to be even more of a challenge but, in the bigger scope of things, this is kind of a turning point for me ... an ending in many ways but a beginning in even more ways. It's difficult, a little scary, sometimes confusing and can be stressful. But it's also always proven to be rewarding. I make sure to celebrate my successes because I do give myself a hard time for the mistakes along the way.

How might this cardinal t-square manifest in your world? Look to the astrological houses where zero to 4 degrees of Aries, Libra and Capricorn fall in your birth chart. Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Are you celebrating a birthday under these tense celestial skies? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Full Moon in Aquarius ~ July 25, 2010

Aquarius by Hevelius via HubbleSourceThe Moon grows strong as she waxes and becomes full in the progressive, independent sign of Aquarius on Sunday, July 25. She grows fuller as the sky fills with the tense, impatient and dynamic energy Cardinal T-Square -- a push-pull between Saturn (out with the old) and Uranus (in with the new), while both shove Pluto (purge and transform) into a corner.

The Moon represents our heart, our private life and our inner drives. Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon solar eclipse in Cancer which encouraged us to strengthen family ties, as well as come to terms with the past and let it go.

This Full Moon in Aquarius illuminates Aquarius' humanitarian ideals while supporting Cancerian concerns and seeking balance with the Leo-Sun's individualistic goals. Time to tie up loose ends (full moon phase bring endings to Cancer/4th house new moon) and begin thinking about how single individualistic acts (Leo/5th house) can make a difference on a larger scale (Aquarius/11th house).

The Aquarius-Moon (heart) opposes the Leo-Sun (soul), while both align to the energies of the Cardinal T-square ~ Saturn (old), Uranus (new) & Pluto (purge & transform). Elsewhere in the sky, the Cardinal T-Square that I mentioned previously, is in full force and continues to build strength & gain momentum which has been happening for months now (click here to learn more about it). In addition to this Cardinal T-Square energy, retrograde-Chiron's return to Aquarius on July 20 stimulates his conjunction with Neptune which, interestingly, perfected during the Aquarius-New Moon phase earlier this year and that we've also remained under the umbrella of. Their conjunction began in 2008, was then joined by Jupiter last year for the rare Aquarian Triple Conjunction, but the Chiron-Neptune conjunction did not actually perfect until this year; also in 2008, the opposition between Saturn and Uranus began to form, has then perfected four times already with their last perfect pass occurring at Aries Point on July 26 (a day after this Aquarius-Full Moon).

But what does all that mean??? Some things that may have begun as early as 2008 -- may they be in thought or deed -- might be coming to a close now. Endings or culmination ... rewards or recognition ... achievements or coming to terms with failure. Chiron, Neptune and this Aquarius-Full Moon are supporting each other by offering healing/release (Chiron), hope/insight (Neptune) and endings in preparation for beginnings (Full Moon). Saturn and Uranus have been having their tug of war between Virgo and Pisces since late 2008, and now for their last hurrah, they tug at each other in cardinal signs Libra and Aries. Cardinal energy creates, initiates. What Saturn and Uranus may have stirred up these past years also comes to a milestone of some sort ... an ending, perhaps and a beginning to another phase as their opposition now is a part of a greater energy with far reaching influence and impact may continue to unfold in the months/years to come.

Whether or not anything from two years ago is getting a final look now in your world, this full moon is asking us to take stock and break away from old, obsolete ways of doing or thinking. Accept failures as a part of the journey. Recognize achievements because it's easy to overlook them and give more focus to what may have failed. Release. Let go. Prepare the self for what's to come.

This Full Moon occurs on July 25 at 9:37 p.m. EST and at 3 degrees of Aquarius. Those born within 3 days of January 23 or July 25; or with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 3 degrees of cardinal or fixed signs may experience the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

For me, this Full Moon trines my Uranus while my Sun remains under the umbrella of Pluto's opposition; as a Cancer-Sun, the full moon falls in my 8th house of debt & endings; as a Virgo-rising, in my 5th house of fun & creative projects. Inevitable changes, maybe even brought on by unexpected events, are what might be in store for me. With the cardinal t-square beating up my Cancer-Sun, the surprises may not necessarily be pleasant but will undoubtedly force changes. During this full moon phase, I will be moving from the East coast (of the U.S.) to the West coast. We'll see what surprises arise *crossing fingers*

Sun in Leo ~ July 22 to August 23, 2010

Leo via HubbleSource

The Sun leaves Cancer and transits his home sign, Leo, beginning on July 22 at 6:21 p.m. EST, where he'll remain until August 23. The Sun represents the self, our conscious will, our vitality, and unrealized but inherent talents. In Cancer, the Sun's focus is in the inner workings of the self. In Leo, the Sun shines its vital energies on self-expression, creative projects, and children. Being the native ruler of Leo, the Sun is dignified in this zodiac sign.

At best, the Sun in Leo is impressive, regal, strong-willed, a natural leader, ambitious, confident, dramatic and generous. At worst, stubborn, narcissistic, melodramatic, and arrogant. While the Sun is in Leo, we are encouraged to find the lion/lioness within each of us -- speak our mind, be creative, confident, and enterprising.

Leo-Suns have a reputation of being theatrical and rightly so, they are the actors/performers of the zodiac. They are creative, magnanimous and, just as the Sun is a life-giver to us earthlings, Leo can also inject life into any room or any conversation. While the Sun is in Leo, be generous of your time and self, just as the Sun generously light up our days. Let the Leo-Sun's warmth help ease your worries. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. It is our job to continue seeking for it and walking towards it. Be confident as you walk your path. Be mindful of keeping the goal in sight and knowing when it's time to tweak the plans and make changes in order complete the tasks at hand. Flexibility is important, as Leo is a fixed sign (stubborn) and the ego can get in the way of progress and growth.

The Sun's transit in Leo this year falls under tense skies that promotes change, revolutionary change that results in growth and improved quality of life for the majority. Click here to learn more.

On the day the Sun moves into Leo, he quickly gets friendly with Uranus in fellow fire sign Aries and Saturn, who recently returned to Libra. Get creative. Do more. Venture out of your comfort zone. Build upon an idea. Collaborate with others who are equally goal-oriented. Think. Plan. Commit. Act.

While in Leo, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • July 22 to 23 ~ Sun sextile Saturn and trine Uranus-rx. covered above
  • July 25 ~ Full Moon in Aquarius at 9:37 p.m. EST

Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

Jupiter Retrograde ~ July 23 to Nov. 18, 2010

Jupiter via NASA

The planet of expansion, Jupiter, stations on July 23 to join a host of celestial bodies already into their retrograde cycle -- Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Jupiter retrogrades from July 23 to November 18, 2010, returns to Pisces on September 9, 2010 and re-enters Aries on January 22, 2011.

While retrograde, our focus turn inward to re-evaluate where we are going and reassess our belief systems/life philosophies. We may find blockages where once an open path lay before us. Expect delays, obstacles and difficulties even if previously, or historically, there were none. Jupiter and Uranus revisit their June 8 conjunctions on September 18, 2010 and January 4, 2011 (same day as the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn). Unlike their initial June meeting which occurred in Aries, their two following unions are in Pisces.

Following the standard with any retrograde planet, this Jupiter retrograde period is a time for the prefix "re" -- reflect, review, reorganize, redefine, re-examine, repair, reassess. Jupiter is the bringer of hope, benefits, happiness, and opportunities. He represents our aspirations, ideals, belief systems, and our capacity for personal growth on every level -- higher education, experiences, and exposure to other cultures/religions/spirituality/philosophies. He also rules justice, publishing and travel.

In the enterprising sign of Aries, Jupiter is that glimmer of hope that pushes us into action, regardless of whatever challenges are thrown our way. His focus is on living up to our ideals, recognizing our potential and forging ahead willfully. Reconnect with the self while Jupiter is in this introspective state. Cut through the noise -- whether it's our own mind, others' opinions or the busy-ness of daily life that disconnects us from our core self. Determine where our true motivations lie and what our deepest desires may be.

In the enlightened sign of Pisces, Jupiter is the generosity of heart that allows for compassion, complete understanding of our interconnectedness and our ability to tap into a more collective type of consciousness. Everything matters. What little we do or don't do. What small ideas we act upon. What energy we surround ourselves with and project onto others or the world around us. It all matters. It's all connected. We are all, individually, part of a bigger whole.

How might Jupiter's retrograde motion influence you? Look to the house/s governed by Pisces and Aries or if you have your natal chart, look at where 23 degrees of Pisces to 3 degrees of Aries falls in your chart. This is the area Jupiter will revisit during his retrograde period.

Those who have natal planets or house angles at 3 degrees of Aries back to 23 degrees of Pisces may experience Jupiter's retrograde cycle more pronounced than others. Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles between 23 degrees of Pisces and 3 degrees of Aries? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal astrology consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? The caring Cancer-Sun (ego) and Mars are friendly and collaborative as Jupiter (bliss) and Pluto (intensity) challenge each other to a test of wills. The Moon slips into Scorpio early afternoon on Sunday which may intensify or give deeper meaning to the events of the weekend.

Saturn Oppose Uranus at Aries Point ~ July 26, 2010

Saturn returns to the relationships sign, Libra, on July 21 and while at Aries Point opposes Uranus, who is also at Aries Point in Aries. Their opposition perfects on July 26 and is the final installment of a series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions which first culminated on November 4, 2008, then again on February 5 and September 15, 2009, and followed by April 26, 2010. Whatever may have begun or initiated, as early as 2008, culminates during this last meeting between Saturn (old) and Uranus (new), two polarizing energies that seeks balance between getting rid of the old and adopting the new.

This time, however, the element surrounding their challenging alignment is cardinal energy and at Aries Point. Cardinal signs take action; their energy leads, creates and initiates. Here, esteemed astrologer, Celeste Teal, explains the term "Aries Point":

The true Aries Point degree is 0 Aries, however, the 0 degree of the four Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are all referred to as Aries Point degrees. This beginning degree of the Cardinal signs has similar connotations to the angles of a chart and is an indicator of eventful times when occupied by a planet or found on a house cusp. These points are indicative of a spectacular out rush of energies. There is frequently an involvement with the world at large. Outsiders or those who’re considered an expert in some area becomes involved in one’s personal matters. Ramifications of events often have a domino effect into each personal area of the life as represented by these four Cardinal points: personal, family, relationships and status. This is Saturn's third pass through Libra at Aries Point. Previous dates include last year on October 29 to November 8, 2009 and earlier this year from March 26 to April 7, 2010. Perhaps, third time's a charm. Should you find unresolved issues or events from either or both those periods recurring in your world while Saturn is at zero degree of Libra again (this time from July 21 to August 2, 2010), don't despair but do take action. You are most likely being offered a chance to finally repair or resolve the situation. This could also be a time when you're able to reflect upon that period and see how far you've come...a final look back, maybe. However, Saturn's return to Libra at Aries Point may manifest in your world, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus is about giving up the old and obsolete for the new and applicable with the ultimate goal of improvement for the majority.

In Libra, Saturn's focus is on relationships ~ with others, another or even the self. Saturn shows us the reality of our situation, no matter how painfully difficult it is to see the truth. It is our job to face such truths and accept our reality in our most sober state. In Aries, Uranus' focus is on the self ~ becoming conscious of its potential, being driven to achieve. Uranus is the awakener and, once 'awakened', is unstoppable from forging ahead making changes ... even at any cost. Where in your life have you been asleep? or running on auto-pilot? What in your life are you ready to break away from? to revolutionize?

This Saturn-Uranus opposition is part of a greater force occurring this period. Since May with Uranus and Jupiter collaborating together, then each leaving Pisces to enter Aries and finally perfecting their alliance early June, cardinal forces have been gaining momentum and intensifying the impatient, sometimes frustrated, energy surrounding us. The Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross late June released a bit of that tension. Now, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus takes part in a Cardinal T-square where Pluto in Capricorn is the focal point, creating a sense of being pushed up against a wall and forced to make a move ... any movement, in any direction, just to lighten the forceful tension (cardinal t-square article to follow). In a previous post, I described a Cardinal T-Square as: A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.
Whatever changes (in our external world, within our emotional state, spiritual realm or psychological plane) may be necessary can now be definitively decided upon and acted upon. Steps taken while under this active cardinal energy have lasting effects and full impact may continue to manifest for months, even years, to come. The key is awareness of truth (Uranus), commitment to make the changes for improvement (Saturn), balance between the old but still useful and the new that replaces what's antiquated (opposition) and action/doing what needs to be done (t-square).

Although we are all recipients of what this energy has to offer, early-born cardinal signs may experience this energy stronger than others. Also, those with natal Saturn at zero degree in Libra may get an extra dose of this energy, for they will also be going through their Saturn Return. And those celebrating their birthday in July, especially after July 21st, are in for an amazing, challenging personal year ahead, as their Solar Return occurs at the height of this Cardinal T-square energy.

Look to the astrological house/s where zero degree of Libra and Aries fall in your natal and/or solar charts to get an idea of where in your life this opposition's energy may manifest in. Don't have your natal chart handy? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Request a quote. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule a session for a Solar Return, Saturn Return or 3-Chart Package Reading. Or you might consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Chiron Returns to Aquarius~Jul. 20, 2010-Feb. 8, 2011

While retrograde, Chiron steps out of Pisces and returns to Aquarius on July 20, where he remains until February 8, 2011. When he re-enters Pisces next year, Chiron will not return to Aquarius for approximately another 50 years. Chiron revisits 29 degrees and back to 26 degrees of Aquarius from July 20, 2010 to February 8, 2011.

Taken from a previous post:

Chiron represents both what is broken and how to heal it. Unlike a headache where the discomfort can be dispelled by a pill, probing through the darkest recesses of our selves and piercing through our thickest walls to uncover what is at the root is a painstaking process, but well worth the effort.

Upon Chiron's return to Aquarius (the awakener), we are awakened to what we may have been doing for the sake of doing...living life in auto-pilot and making decisions that reflect what's safe or doesn't take much effort or rock the boat. But when looking at the bigger picture, longer term effects are actually more destructive to us. Becoming aware should stir the consciousness to make changes. As we heal the self, we are then able to turn around and help another heal their wounds without sacrificing our own personal growth and needs.

Returning to Aquarius re-activates the conjunction between Chiron and Neptune that culminated mid-February. They joined forces "to help release fears, heal past hurts, let go of mentally wounding thoughts/ideas, give up old ways or bad habits while at the same time giving us hope and insight; we are shown truth and reality that go beyond what we can mentally process, visually witness and audibly experience." Although they will not perfect their alignment this time around, they do remain close enough to each other for months to make an impact. Their alliance is strongest around November to December 2010, where they receive a boost from the Lunar Eclipse at 29 degrees in Gemini on December 21st that trines this Chiron-Neptune conjunction.

Along with Chiron, Neptune, Pluto and Uranus are also currently in their retrograde cycle and energies are turned inward, introspective.

Another shift in celestial energy on this same week -- Saturn changes signs the following day on July 21, he re-enters Libra, where he remains until October 2012.

Those with house angles or natal planets between 26 and 29 degrees of Aquarius or fixed signs may experience this transit stronger than others. Those with their natal Chiron at 26 to 29 degrees of Aquarius will have their Chiron Return for a third and final pass, offering a true "healing" to deeply-rooted "wounds". Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets on or around 26 to 29 degrees of Aquarius? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal astrology consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Saturn Re-enters Libra ~ July 21, 2010 to Oct. 5, 2012

scales tattoo

Saturn leaves Virgo for the last time and re-enters Libra on July 21 at 11:10 a.m. (EST). He won't return to the sign of Virgo for another 28 or so years. This should make any Virgo or Virgo-rising a happy camper, especially late-born Virgos or third decan Virgo-risings.

Saturn initially entered Libra on October 29, 2009, stayed through April 7, 2010 then returned to Virgo during his retrograde cycle. From July 21st through much of August, Saturn retraces his steps from November 2009 through mid-January 2010. Don't be surprised if issues or events occurring presently are either linked or reminiscent to that period. The rest of July and August are ideal to find a resolution, tie up any loose ends and finally break from past events or situations should you find yourself "reliving" late last year.

Per my original Saturn in Libra post, I described this Saturn transit as:

Saturn is said to be exalted (best placement; greatest strength) in Libra. Saturn is the taskmaster of the zodiac whose karmic lessons, once learned, remain with each of us throughout our lives. He represents reality, challenges, structure, foundation, obstacles, hard work, obligations, restrictions, and limitations. He is cold, distant, stoic, determined, persistent ... all business. His function, as he transits through the houses of our birth charts, is to teach us our life lessons.

Libra governs partnerships, relationships, and the ties that bind us through commitment. By nature, Libra is objective, fair-minded, logical, social, charming, friendly, peaceable, seeks balance, and appreciates the aesthetic beauty in its surroundings. Saturn in Libra teaches us about the challenges in relationships, the commitment and work required for healthy connections, the equality and justice within our partnerships, and the objectivity that is sometimes needed especially when passions, emotions and righteousness arise.

On the day Saturn re-enters Libra, he immediately opposes Uranus (awakening) and Jupiter (opportunities) while also square Pluto (transformation); and, in doing so, activates the Cardinal T-square that has been a-brewin' since late May. I've previously describe this t-square energy as:A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two or more celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything. While Saturn opposes both Uranus and Jupiter and squares Pluto, Pluto is also square Jupiter and Uranus. whew! Dizzy yet? Pluto is the focal point of this impatient, dynamic energy. Whatever realities Saturn whips us with, we are both excited and apprehensive about the changes we long for. Pluto urges us to eliminate and lighten our load, so to speak, as we determine what it is we want to work towards or decide where we want to go from here.

With Uranus at play, expect the unexpected. Be flexible for the element of surprise. Keep awareness levels high as Jupiter, while still collaborating with Uranus, may offer help or open doors and give opportunities through unlikely sources or packaged in something not expected. Saturn and Pluto energies can be harsh and demanding, but it is best to work with their energies instead of against it; and it will not help to ignore them either. Click here to read more about this 2010 Cardinal Climax.

Those with their natal Saturn in Libra between zero and 4 degrees will also be going through their Saturn Return while this wild, craaaazzzzy energy is also going on. And those celebrating their birthday on or around July 21st should have an exciting year ahead, as their Solar Return (astrological birthday) occurs while this cardinal climax is happening.
