Mars in Taurus ~ May 31 to July 11, 2009

At 5:17 p.m. (Eastern) tonight, Mars slides into Taurus where he slows down considerably. In his home sign Aries, he was ready to move, quick to act, driven by passion, and assertive by nature. In Taurus, his movements are determined, purposeful, and well thought out. No rash actions here.

The astrological sky has been busy as we approached the end of May. Last weekend through to the middle of this week, we witnessed Jupiter (opportunities) perfect his links to Chiron (healing) and Neptune (spirituality). By the end of the week, Neptune changed directions and will be retrograde until November. Yesterday began with Chiron (wounded healer) stationing, as he followed Neptune's lead and will be retrograde until October; then that evening, Mercury (mind/communication) began moving forward after being retrograde for most of May. Following the succession of these celestial events, how timely and beneficial is Mars' entrance into Taurus today?!

Mars joins Mercury in Taurus. All that was planned, revealed, revised during the Mercury retrograde period is ready for implementation (Mars) in a deliberate fashion (Taurus). Saturn (the achiever) in Virgo (analytical), also newly direct since mid-month, aids our intentional actions and decisions to produce lasting results.

Neptune's retrograde offers a chance to reconnect with our subconscious, spirituality, and psychological self. Our mind (Mercury) is stable and grounded in Taurus for at least another week, hampering the Neptunian fog of confusion; so, we can establish a better understanding of that which are unseen but just as real. A clearer mind (Mercury) allows for an intensive introspection (Chiron), contributing to a more productive (Saturn) and enlightened (Neptune) set of actions (Mars).

Mars remains in Taurus until July 11. Let's take advantage of Taurus' slow but sure strategy and really get things accomplished!

Look to the house ruled by Taurus, Aries and/or Scorpio in your birth chart to get an idea of where Mars' energy might play out while in Taurus. Unsure of what house/s Mars in Taurus is visiting? Mercury Direct ~ May 30, 2009

Has it been a long 3 1/2 weeks? Surprisingly, this has been a productive Mercury retrograde period for me. I still had delays, repeats, miscommunication, and misunderstandings, but decidedly less cumbersome than past periods. In addition to my natal Gemini-Mercury, as a Virgo-rising, both my Ascendant (self/potential) and Midheaven (goals/future) are Mercury ruled; hence, resulting in greater chances of being adversely influenced when Mercury slows down. Earlier in the week, one of my Twitter pals posted a comment that this is by far "the best" Mercury retrograde period for her. I'm inclined to agree!

How were these past few weeks for you?

Well, for those who cannot quite agree with me, thank the heavens Mercury stations today and will soon be zipping through the zodiac signs once again. At 9:21 p.m. (Eastern) tonight while at 22 degrees and 52 minutes in Taurus, Mercury halts, gets his bearings, and prepares to move forward. He was at this same spot last month on April 22. Events or issues surrounding that period may resurface now.

Elsewhere in the sky as Mercury changes direction, combat ensues between the Gemini-Sun (conscious will) and Virgo-Moon (inner drives). Both Gemini and Virgo are Mercury-ruled signs. So, it's a battle of wills; who will win? Head or heart? In Virgo, the Moon is analytical so, my bet would be on the Sun. Simultaneously, the Moon moves closer to blend energies with Saturn, where our emotions may be stunted from being expressed. Since Mercury is still getting used to the change in his pace and direction, be mindful and continue to choose our words wisely when expressing our thoughts. More optimistically, we continue to be under the Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune conjunctions giving us the opportunity for healing, enlightenment, and hope for improved lives.

Mercury in Taurus reflects a strong mind that is determined, persistent, patient, practical, and reliable. With his forward movement, what we may have reviewed, re-planned, re-structured, and redefined during the retrograde period may just be ready for implementation within the next few days once Mercury gets adjusted to his normal speed.

On June 13, Mercury re-enters Gemini. He may revisit events surrounding April 30th which was when he first slipped home to Gemini this year. In Taurus, our minds are offered stability; in Gemini, our minds are quick-thinking, our words playful, thoughts varied, and approach friendly. We may have more sparks of ideas but lack the steadiness of Taurus to make them stick. Jot down brilliant ideas and you're sure to get it created, developed, and executed.

Those with personal planets/house angles between 22 degrees of Taurus and 2 degrees of Gemini may feel Mercury's movement more strongly through to the end of the retrograde cycle on June 15 which includes the shadow period.

Unsure if you have any planets or house angles in these degrees or what house/s Mercury is visiting? Cast your own birth chart for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required. Or request a quote for a paid personalized reading. (both links open a new window)

On a separate note, in addition to Mercury's direction change, Chiron in Aquarius stationed this morning and will be retrograde until October 31, 2009.

Chiron Retrograde ~ May 30 to Oct. 31, 2009

This morning at 7:12 a.m. (Eastern), Chiron stations in preparation for retrograde movement lasting until October 31. Just yesterday, Neptune stationed and will be retrograde until November. Their parallel retrograde cycle marks an advantageous period to delve, penetrate, and bring to light deep-seated wounds/damages that have plagued and oppressed us for far too long. What is at the root of our brokenness, of what hurts us? Why carry the baggage we do?

When we have a headache, do we not reach for something to help alleviate the pain? Why then have we resigned to living with our afflictions, so much so that we've made concessions for them?

As a general rule when planets retrograde, we are granted the liberty of being able to experience the internal workings of that planet in retrograde. With Chiron, we are able to reflect, review, and repair. We become aware of the problem, the extent of the problem, the root of the problem, ushering in the solution and healing to the problem.

Chiron represents both what is broken and how to heal it. Unlike a headache where the discomfort can be dispelled by a pill, probing through the darkest recesses of our selves and piercing through our thickest walls to uncover what is at the root is a painstaking process, but well worth the effort.

Chiron transits Aquarius (the awakener), where his drives are motivated by improving situations that benefit the masses. As we heal the self, we are then able to turn around and help another heal their wounds. The favorable Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunctions continue to be a strong influence, bestowing upon us faith, hope, and openness.

Along with Neptune's retrograde, while also in Aquarius, we have the chance to get in touch with our spirituality and psychological self, giving us the capacity to really open ourselves to a world of hurt that no longer needs to be a part of our present or future. Be aware that Neptune is known to cause confusion and is easily tempted with escapism. Remind yourself of the healing process you are committed to achieving and fight excessive escapism. If clarity eludes you, ride the wave of confusion, and arrive at your destination ... enlightened.

Chiron will retrograde between 21 degrees and 27 degrees in Aquarius. Look to the natal house/s that Chiron is transiting to find out how this transit might play out in your life.

Those with planets or house angles between 21 degrees and 27 degrees of of air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) or fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) may be feel this Chiron and Neptune retrogrades more strongly.

Unsure if you have any planets or house angles in these degrees or what house/s Chiron is visiting? Cast your own birth chart by clicking here (opens a new window) -- birth date, time, and place required.

Mid-next month Jupiter, also transiting Aquarius, will retrograde. More on that in a few weeks...

Also, changing directions today -- Mercury in Taurus turns direct.

Neptune Retrograde ~ May 29 to Nov. 4, 2009

Just after midnight (Eastern) on May 29, Neptune switches gears and turns retrograde. Neptune rules all that which is hidden and operates in the unseen world -- our subconscious, psychological self, dreams, imagination, and spirituality. She is often associated with confusion (lack of clarity), escapism (drugs/alcohol), creativity (music), transcendence, "oneness," and unconditional love.

Neptune currently transits Aquarius, known for its originality, innovation, rebellion, love for freedom and independent thought. Aquarius is humanitarian, civic-minded, and unconventional. In Aquarius, Neptune's ideals are stretched to reflect the identity of the self within the whole, the purpose of the individual within the greater society, the contribution of one that reaches many.

Since Neptune's entrance to Aquarius in 1998, there have been technological advances that introduced new ways of connecting with people across continents or with similar interests or reconnecting with old friends (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Ning), giving to charities or helping others in need (Kiva, Nothing But Nets, The Petition Site), easier searching for volunteer opportunities (onebrick.org, idealist.org, Volunteer Match), and generally, bridging the geographical/cultural gap between communities/societies/countries to jointly meet in a virtual world, where everyone is equal and has a voice. These are just some examples of global developments representative of Neptune (oneness) in Aquarius (innovative) influence ... as above, so below.

Neptune is retrograde from May 29 to November 4, 2009. This period offers us the opportunity to give attention to our spiritual side, psychological self, imagination, and ideals; aspects of our selves that we may have neglected during the course of living our busy, daily lives. This is the time to get in touch with realities in the spiritual plane that are just as true and substantial as the realities we face in the physical world. Be wary of excessive escapism, especially with drugs, during this period. A fog of confusion is also common; don't fear it. Instead, embrace the abyss of the unknown. In surrendering, clarity will follow.

We continue to be under the umbrella of the phenomenal Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunctions which was strongest from May 23 to May 27, making these next few months an advantageous period to seek deep within, heal, transform, and welcome new experiences.

Those born between February 12 to 15 (+/- 2 days) or with personal planets/house angles between 23 and 26 degrees of air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) or fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) may be feel this Neptune retrograde more strongly.

Transiting Sun in Natal Houses

The Sun is the source of all energy, is life-giving, and represents the self we present to the external world, our vital life force, potential, ambitions, intentions, and unrealized/untapped inherent talents/skills.

The Sun transits through the 12 zodiac signs during the 12 months of the year, spending approximately one month per sign. As the Sun travels through each sign, he dons the personality and characteristics of that sign. For instance, in the sign Aries, he is bold and confident, at times at the risk of being reckless. In Libra, however, the Sun is more objective and reflects upon consequences or how things affect another. The Sun in both signs still function as the representation of our soul's purpose and journeying the path before him that leads him to our potential. But in Aries, he does so with less inhibitions than in Libra who tends to think things through first.

As the Sun stays in these different signs throughout the year, he also visits the different houses within our solar and natal charts. The house/s with which he transits in illustrates where his influence, while wearing a specific personality, might manifest in our individual lives.

How does the Sun's transit influence your chart? Look to the solar and natal house/s ruled by the zodiac sign the Sun is currently transiting in to see where his current transit might play out in your life. Match the signs with the house cusps on your solar and birth chart.

For example, if you are a Pisces-Sun and the Sun is transiting Gemini. Begin with Pisces occupying the first house then move down the zodiac until you reach Gemini (Pisces-1st house; Aries-2nd House; Taurus-3rd House; Gemini-4th House). So, for those with Pisces-Sun or Pisces-Rising, the Sun in Gemini falls in fourth house. Scroll down to the Fourth House to find out the themes of that house and how/where in your life this transit might influence.* Follow the same steps to match the natal house ruled by zodiac sign the Sun is transiting.

Transiting Sun in Houses*
*Does not account for intercepted birth charts
or house cusps decanate designation

Transiting Sun in the First House ~ The first house governs the self, self-image, our being, potential, and path to our life's purpose. The Sun's transit here bestows a sense of "rebirth," increases self-confidence, heightens self-awareness, and boosts social success. This is a great time to "go for it." Whatever "it" might be, just do it!

Transiting Sun in the Second House ~ The second house represents our material possessions, income, value system, and self-worth. Finances, income, property value, or buying home furnishings are the focus of expended energies. What may be illuminated now might include seeking a new, alternate, or supplemental income and/or increasing the value of the home through repairs, upgrades, or replacing major appliances.

Transiting Sun in the Third House ~ For those with siblings (biological or otherwise), this transit might highlight an opportunity for a renewal in relationships with them. The third house also represents communication, commerce, writing, speaking, thinking, planning, and ideas. The Sun's transit here is especially ideal for those in professions that require direct interaction or communication with the public, i.e. public/motivational speaker, salesperson, broadcast journalist, consultant, etc.

Transiting Sun in the Fourth House ~ The Sun transiting through the fourth house might turn our thoughts to present or recurring issues involving the family, the home (buying/selling a house, moving, re-financing, re-decorating, remodeling, etc.), our private life (the need for quality time with the self, especially if the professional life requires many hours away from the home life), or the past.

Transiting Sun in the Fifth House ~ The Sun is at home in the the fifth house. Self-expression, creative projects, love and romance, fun, playfulness, and children are all ruled by the fifth house. Allow this transit to awaken creativity, spark love, boost confidence, and/or all forms of pleasure back into your life.

Transiting Sun in the Sixth House ~ Health, busy work, service, comfort in routines, and finding order in the details are all ruled by the sixth house. The Sun here shines on much needed lifestyle changes in health habits, or becoming comfortable with taking on the role of someone who "services" others, or perhaps learning to establish boundaries with those who might take advantage of kind gestures.

Transiting Sun in the Seventh House ~ Partnerships (business or otherwise), marriages, committed relationships, and known enemies are all representatives of the seventh house. Our focus turn to our significant other, spouse, or business partner/s. Their basic needs and well-being may be considered prior to our own.

Transiting Sun in the Eighth House ~ The eighth house is multi-faceted and multi-layered. In the physical realm, the eighth house represents sex and shared resources/finances. Your bedroom may get more action than usual while the Sun transits in the eighth. For those in a volatile relationship and are now separating, estranged, or divorcing, issues regarding your "shared" resources and who gets what might be illuminated. Depending on whether the natal Sun is well or ill-aspected would have a bearing how events play out now. In the psychological plane, the eighth house represents power struggles within our own psychological makeup and our ability to embrace the "darker" version of our self without it overpowering us. On a spiritual level, it represents "death and rebirth", transformation, regeneration -- the need for something to "die" in order for a "rebirth" to occur -- as in a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. Planetary transits to the eighth house are generally the most difficult but are also the most powerful.

Transiting Sun in the Ninth House ~ Personal growth (spiritual or otherwise) through higher education, experience, travel, and cultural influences might be highlighted. The ninth house also represents publishing so, if you have dreams of authoring a novella or drafting a script or creating your own blog, the Sun's transit here is an opportune time to pursue publication of something already completed or begin the project.

Transiting Sun in the Tenth House ~ Focus on professional pursuits and long-term goals might take center stage with this transit, as well as establishing or re-establishing your public reputation. If there has been a desire to chart a new course in life or change careers, this is an advantageous period to make solid plans and/or measured steps toward new endeavors. If you are up for a new job, promotion, raise, or one of a few contenders for a project, this transit should help ensure you are chosen over your competitor/s.

Transiting Sun in the Eleventh House ~ Transit in the eleventh house might influence your friendships and associations. Your social calendar may just be booked the duration of the transit as your presence may be required or requested at parties, group gatherings, business networking or meetings, etc. You're charmed and making connections, collecting contacts, and being in the scene to be seen is definitely where you should be!

Transiting Sun in the Twelfth House ~ A challenging transit, the twelfth house, like the eighth house, is also multi-faceted and multi-layered. It is the house of the subconscious, solitude, spiritual consciousness, secrets (ours and those kept from us), hidden enemies, and represents institutions like hospitals and prisons. Any planetary transit through the twelfth house might require a period of "aloneness" in order to "recharge" and sort through issues being presented subconsciously and psychologically. The Sun is uncomfortable in this house and unless a chart is natally 12th house activated or heavily influenced by Neptune/Pisces, this might be a challenging period for you. The important thing to remember is not to resist -- respite is required, maybe not all the time, but more than what you're used to; quality time with the self is also required, so shift your thinking to see solitude as something different from loneliness. Your dreaming mind might be more active during this period, too. If possible, pay more attention to them for they may reveal clues to events/issues within your external world.

Transiting Mercury in Natal Houses

In Roman mythology, he is the Messenger of the Gods. In astrology, Mercury represents all manners of information gathering, processing, and dissemination; mental processes; communication; commerce and trade; and transportation. He is the smallest planet in the solar system (now that Pluto has been demoted), the fastest moving planet in the zodiac, the closest planet to the Sun, and is never more than one sign away from the Sun. Mercury takes a break, slows down, and retrogrades three times a year for about three weeks.

How does Mercury's transit influence your life? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Gemini and Virgo (both zodiac signs are ruled by the planet Mercury) as well as the zodiac sign Mercury is currently transiting. Match the signs with the house cusps on your birth chart.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Transiting Venus in Natal Houses

In Roman mythology, Venus is the goddess of love. In astrology, Venus represents our relationships (all types -- intimate, platonic, familial, and with the self), our material wealth, our value systems, our self-worth, our capacity to see beauty in the world, and our desires. She travels very close to the Sun (second only to Mercury) and is never more than two signs away from the Sun. Venus retrogrades every eighteen months.

How is transiting Venus influencing your birth chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Taurus and Libra (both zodiac signs are ruled by the planet Venus) as well as the zodiac sign Venus is currently transiting to find out how transiting Venus may influence your chart. Match the signs with the house cusps on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the zodiac signs Taurus, Libra, and sign Venus is currently transiting on your birth chart.

If you don't have your birth chart, you may use your Sun sign and/or your Rising/Ascendant sign, if you know it.

For example, if you are a Pisces-Sun or Pisces-Rising and Venus is in Taurus. Transiting Venus in the First House ~ Venus' transit in the first house increases self-confidence, heightens self-awareness, gives emphasis on beauty (both physical and aesthetic) that surrounds our life, and offers opportunities for success in both business and social arenas. The first house represents the self, our self-image, our being, our potential. This is a great period to reinvent yourself with a new look -- buy a new outfit or two, try out a new 'do, step it up with a new pair of shoes.

Transiting Venus in the Second House ~ Venus is at home in the second house which represents our material possessions, income, value system, and self-worth. Finances, income, property value, or buying home furnishings may dominate our desires now. We may also face some issues regarding what we value in life or how we value our "self". What is it that's worthy of our love, devotion, and caring?

Transiting Venus in the Third House

For those with siblings (biological or otherwise), this period is favorable for renewing relationships and interactions with them. Find the fun, pleasure, and enjoyment in living a healthy lifestyle, following a balanced diet, and doing exercise that satisfies the body as well as the soul.

Transiting Venus in the Seventh House
~ Venus brings love to the marriage house. Have you lost that lovin' feeling? Well, Venus is more than happy to rekindle the flame. The seventh house also governs all manners of partnerships (including business), committed relationships, and known enemies. Increasing financial ventures with partner/s may be a focus now.

Transiting Venus in the Eighth House
~ The planet of love and money in the house of sex and debt. hmm... The eighth house is multi-faceted and multi-layered. In the physical realm, the eighth house represents sex and shared resources/finances. In the psychological plane, it represents power struggles within our own psychological makeup and our ability to embrace the "darker" version of our self without it overpowering us. Allow Venus' transit in this house to transform our sexual relationships, especially if there are sexual hang-ups or lack of confidence in the sexual arena. On the financial end, allow Venus to teach us the value of investing and lowering debt.

Transiting Mars in Natal Houses

In Roman mythology, Mars is the god of war. In astrology, Mars represents action, our motivation, aggression, self-assertion, passions, and sex drive. Also known as the "Red Planet" because of the planet's reddish color, Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun. Transiting Mars visiting natal houses triggers where, in our life, action is imminent. Mars retrogrades approximately every 26 months.

How does Mars' transits influence us? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Aries and Scorpio (both zodiac signs are governed by the planet Mars) as well as the zodiac sign Mars is currently transiting to determine where Mars' transit might manifest in your life. Match the zodiac signs with the house cusps on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the zodiac signs Aries, Scorpio, and sign Mars is currently transiting on your birth chart.

If you don't have your birth chart, you may use your Sun and your Rising signs, if you know it.

For example, if you are a Pisces-Sun or Pisces-Rising and Mars is in Gemini. Begin with Pisces occupying the first house then move down the zodiac until you reach Gemini (Pisces-1st house; Aries-2nd House; Taurus-3rd House; Gemini-4th House). So, for those with a Pisces-Sun or Pisces-Rising, Mars in Gemini falls in fourth house. Scroll down to the Fourth House to find out the themes of that house and how/where in your life this transit might influence.* Follow the same steps to match the house ruled by Scorpio and zodiac sign Mars is currently transiting.

Alternatively, you may cast your own birth chart by clicking here (opens a new window) for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required. Schedule a session or request a quote for your Mars Return reading.

Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

Transiting Mars in Natal Houses*
*Does not account for intercepted birth charts
or house cusps decanate designation

Transiting Mars in the First House ~ The first house is the house of the self, our self-image, our being, our potential. Mars transiting the first house bestows confidence in your actions, decisiveness in each step you take, assertiveness in your interactions, and boldness in your personality. This is a great time to get things done! No more procrastinating. No more excuses. Go boldly where you have been wanting to go. Do what you've dreamed of doing. Hold your head high and be counted. Your mojo is at its peak! The only thing to watch out for is Mars' negative traits -- temperamental, brash, brusque, hostile. So, be assertive, not aggressive. Be bold, but not a brute. Make your own path, but don't bulldoze your way into it. Be a boss, but not bossy.

Transiting Mars
in the Second House ~ The second house represents our material possessions, income, value system, and self-worth. Finances, income, property value, or buying home furnishings may dominate decision-making, actions, and interactions. This is a great period to increase income -- seeking something supplemental or negotiating a raise or asking for a promotion or aggressively looking for a job. If times are lean, be mindful of money-related arguments. Depending on the sign Mars is transiting, watch out for overspending/impulse buying, tempers being incited quicker, stubbornness reaching new heights, or deeply buried anger finally exploding as it is expressed.

Transiting Mars in the Third House ~ The third house represents all manners of communication, commerce, writing, speaking, thinking, planning, and ideas. Mars' transit in the third house brings action and movement to our words and thoughts. Get those emails/letters written and sent. For writers, bloggers, and poets out there, there's no better cure for writer's block that shoving Mars in the house of thought and communication. The zodiac sign Mars is transiting determines the flow of creativity, brilliant ideas, breakthrough concepts, and perhaps the "tone" of the work produced. The third house also governs siblings (biological or otherwise), watch out for possible sibling rivalry creeping in during this transit. Arguments may be rooted at a deeper level than what the disagreement may be about, especially for those with already volatile sibling relationships. In the third house, Mars' choice of weapon are words and will battle through debates.

Transiting Mars in the Fourth House ~ Mars transiting through the fourth house might focus our energy, aggression, or self-assertion toward present or recurring issues involving the family, our home (buying/selling a house, moving, re-financing, re-decorating, remodeling, etc.), or our private life. Sons and daughters (child or adult) everywhere may find themselves asserting their will, worth, and presence toward parents during this transit. Family ties already on the rocks may find this period more frustrating, as tensions might not let up. A productive way to use this energy is to get things done around the house, especially projects that you may have been putting off for a while. Depending on the sign Mars is transiting, this could be a time where family ties can be strengthened by working together as one unit.

Transiting Mars in the Fifth House ~ Ahhh, Mars in the fun house. Woo hoo! Self-expression, creative projects, love and romance, fun, playfulness, and children are all governed by the fifth house. If you've been too busy with work, obligations, life, Mars urges you now to MAKE time for enjoyment and pleasure. Stop and smell the roses. Romance may blossom into love. Play with your children. Take them to the zoo, show them how to play ball, or plan a group day trip with other parents and their children. For you artists and creative types out there, this is a great time to pour a lot of energy into creative projects. Great period for sports but for those who are naturally clumsy, be extra careful of injuries or falls.

Transiting Mars in the Sixth House ~ Mars is busy, busy, busy with busy work -- chores, daily routines, and meticulous tasks. The sixth house governs physical health, busy work, service, comfort in routines, and finding order in the details. This is a great time to start and establish an exercise routine. If you're not the gym type, find other interests that get you physically moving and burning calories. Intent, determination, and consistency are key to making this Mars transit work for you. The sixth house is also a service house and is ideal for activities like volunteering.

Transiting Mars in the Seventh House ~ Partnerships (business or otherwise), marriages, committed relationships, and known enemies are all governed by the seventh house. Mars transiting the seventh house may pose challenges in already problematic relationships. Arguments may be inevitable. The seventh house also rules "known enemies," and they may just make an appearance for a bout during this transit. Depending on the sign Mars is transiting, this period can be constructive (as cards are laid out on the table, opening up an avenue for discussion) or unproductive (if the parties involved cannot get past the anger to see objectively). A productive way to exert this Martian energy is to participate in group or partnered activities. Mars in air signs may bring a more social period for this house.

Transiting Mars in the Eighth House ~ Although the eighth house is multi-faceted and multi-layered, Mars' transit to this house generally manifests through the physical realm -- sex and shared resources/finances. Transiting Mars in the eighth house is impulsive and sexual desires may increase, as well as overspending. Be aware of your own intent and actions as possessiveness is a side effect of this transit. The eighth house also represents endings so, a dissolution of something or of some kind may also occur during this transit.

Transiting Mars in the Ninth House ~ Travel? Adventure? Adventure travel?! The ninth house governs personal growth (spiritual or otherwise) through higher education, experience, travel, and cultural influences. The urge to travel or maybe even relocate may arise during this period. Any desire for continuing or higher education may increase now. Debates/arguments over belief systems -- religious, spiritual, political -- may dominate conversations/discussions. The ninth house also represents legal matters and situations requiring legal attention or decisions may need to be dealt with now. If the ninth house is natally afflicted and/or transiting Mars form challenging alignments in this house, the outcome may not be favorable.

Transiting Mars in the Tenth House ~ Focus on professional pursuits and long-term goals might take center stage with this transit, as well as establishing or re-establishing your public reputation. This is a great time to make strides towards career goals, including a career change or launching new business projects. Mars is aggression as well as assertion so, be careful not to start any fights or be caught in conflict with authority figures.

Transiting Mars in the Eleventh House ~ This is a good, good time for some good times. Transit in the eleventh house bring the Martian energy in your friendships and associations. This is ideal for networking, making contacts (business or personal), meeting new types of friends/people, and social affairs, in general. If transiting Mars form unfavorable aspects in a chart, fighting with friends might be expected.

Transiting Mars in the Twelfth House ~ Mars takes a little rest here. Who needs to exert all that physical energy anyway? :) This the house of the subconscious, solitude, spiritual consciousness, secrets (ours and those kept from us), hidden enemies, and represents institutions like hospitals and prisons. A twelfth house transit is generally a difficult one, especially for someone who is not in tune with the spiritual plane. Secrets may be revealed, including enemies you didn't know you had. Things long forgotten or memories buried intentionally may surface and demand to be dealt with. Some "alone" time may be required now so we can reflect upon what it is we truly want and want to work towards. In a few weeks, Mars will enter your first house. All that's transpired and all that you've learned while he was in the twelfth house will get a chance to be expressed in your tangible world.

You're more confident, a bit bolder and willing to take more risks. So, if you're already naturally a risk-taker, perhaps you might want to keep that in mind and step back to look before you leap sometimes. Become aware of what the universe is offering. Watch your diet, however, don't let the expansion be of your physical body. Jupiter has been in your 12th house for a year where his influence was subtler. Whatever indelible marks or dreams inspired by Jupiter in the 12th, you have the chance to practice or make happen.

The Second House represents our material possessions, income, value system, and self-worth. Jupiter has been in your 1st house the past year. You became more optimistic, confident and assertive. There may be bounty now, but learn to think ahead for a rainy day.

The Eighth House is multi-faceted and multi-layered. In the physical realm, the 8th house represents sex and shared resources/finances. In the psychological plane, it represents power struggles within our own psychological makeup. On a spiritual level, it represents "death and rebirth", transformation, regeneration. Financial investments may increase in value. Sexual life may become more active. Empowerment through winning over psychological battles. Finally finding the truth/belief system/religion/faith that may have been sought for years.

Transiting Saturn Through Houses*
*Does not account for intercepted charts
or house cusps decanate placements

The 1st House represents the self, our self-image, our being, our potential. Saturn's transit to the this house might bring self-awareness of one's limitations due to obligations, situations forced upon you, or mental/physical challenges. This transit is about rising above whatever is pushing you down and keeping you from the success you desire; having the confidence and belief in your own determination and drive for achievement despite the odds; making lemonade out of lemons.

The 2nd House represents our material possessions, income, value system, and self-worth. On a higher plane, it represents stability, inner peace, and being grounded through our own self-sufficiency. In these times of economic crunch and employment worries, Saturn's transit through the 2nd house reminds us that our true worth does not lie in our possessions and inner peace cannot be achieved through material means. We may be forced learn to live within our financial means, discard the unnecessary, and have our resilience truly tested.

The 3rd House represents all manners of communication, commerce, writing, speaking, thinking, planning, and ideas. Saturn's visit to this house might fill our heads with worry when "what needs to be done" meets with "the details of how to get things resolved". Just remember that Saturn is a slow-moving planet, do not get bogged down with the details. Instead, focus on actively taking steps (small, big, mental, or physical); small steps lead to big efforts. For those with siblings (biological or otherwise), this transit might highlight how relationships and interactions with them can be improved.

The 4th House represents the family (present or recurring issues), the home (buying/selling a house, moving, re-financing, re-decorating, remodeling, etc.), and our private life. On an emotional/personal level, it represents coming to terms with the past or unresolved family issues. A Saturn transit in the 4th might prove truly challenging. Here, we are urged to put our raw emotions/intuitions aside for the sake of reason and what's tangible. Learning to balance and cultivate both during this period is key to the success of a Saturn 4th house transit.

The 5th House represents self-expression, creative projects, love and romance, fun, playfulness, and children. Saturn's transit in the 5th house tugs at the very heart of fun and play vs. responsibilities and work; creative, deliberate self-expression with purpose vs. expressions simply to shock or inflate the ego. A more difficult transit might bring up issues related to childhood or the loss of a child.

The 6th House represents health, busy work, service, comfort in routines, and finding order in the details. This transit might bring about forced lifestyle changes and/or health habits, becoming comfortable with taking on the role of someone who "services" others, or perhaps assertively establishing boundaries with those who are keen to take advantage.

The 7th House represents partnerships (business or otherwise), marriages, committed relationships, and known enemies. Forced or long-awaited and much needed changes to relationships -- equality, cooperations, compromises, agreements, how we relate to others, how they relate to us -- might be issues that come up now. Long-term ties that have been significant in the past may be severed during this transit.

The 8th House is multi-faceted and multi-layered. In the physical realm, the 8th house represents sex and shared resources/finances. In the psychological plane, it represents power struggles within our own psychological makeup and our ability to embrace the "darker" version of our self without it overpowering us. On a spiritual level, it represents "death and rebirth", transformation, regeneration -- the need for something to "die" in order for a "rebirth" to occur -- as in a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. Transits to the 8th house are generally the most difficult but are also the most powerful because it requires endings, cutting off ties, purging, elimination. What you have to give up and completely let go of depends upon the sign that Saturn is in and whether or not Saturn is aligned to any natal planets and/or house angles. This transit can manifest within the psychological plane through analyzation and adopting a new way of mental processes; in the physical realm through financial losses resulting in gaining a stronger sense of handling material wealth or through changes within one's sexuality by breaking through emotional/psychological blockages which caused the sexual repression to begin with; or in the spiritual level, by dissecting one's own established belief system to arrive at the truth. This transit can also manifest in a combination of any of these.

The 9th House represents personal growth (spiritual or otherwise) through higher education, experience, travel, and cultural influences. The pursuit for continuing education or higher learning and the challenges involved in actively pursuing them might be issues that surface during this transit. The 9th house also represents publishing so, if you've authored a novel, non-fiction, or poetry and have been dreaming of being published, allow this transit to give that dream the necessary push despite any limitations that may be imposed upon you.

The 10th House represents professional pursuits, long-term goals, and public reputation. Strides and focus on one's career and long-term goals are highlighted now. Changing careers, not just work situations, but professional pursuits may occur during this transit. Even goals may be redefined during this time. Interactions with superiors or those with authority may be challenged now. The need to establish or re-established public reputation might also be highlighted now.

The 11th House represents friendships and associations; our personal view of world, its state, and its varied societies; humanity as a whole and each of our place in it, as well as our collaborative responsibility to it. Existing friendships undergo changes that strengthen bonds. Friendships may also end. New friendships created. Becoming aware of global limitations and challenges may give a restructuring in belief systems or responsibilities to a greater society.

The 12th House, like the 8th house, is also multi-faceted and multi-layered. It is the house of the subconscious, solitude, spiritual consciousness, secrets (ours and those kept from us), hidden enemies, and represents institutions like hospitals and prisons. A Saturn transit through the 12th house requires a period of "aloneness" in order to "recharge" and sort through issues being presented subconsciously and psychologically. The most effective way to process a transit through this house is surrender ... give in to the much needed spiritual healing offered (despite the lack of tangible proof or logic) and clarity will follow.
