Sun in Leo ~ July 22/23 to August 23, 2011

Original image source unknown.

The Sun leaves Cancer and transits his home sign, Leo. The Sun represents the self, our conscious will, our vitality, and unrealized but inherent talents. In Cancer, the Sun's focus is in the inner workings of the self. In Leo, the Sun shines its vital energies on self-expression, creative projects, and children. Being the native ruler of Leo, the Sun is dignified in this zodiac sign.

At best, the Sun in Leo is impressive, regal, strong-willed, a natural leader, ambitious, confident, dramatic and generous. At worst, stubborn, narcissistic, melodramatic, and arrogant. While the Sun is in Leo, we are encouraged to find the lion/lioness within each of us -- speak our mind, be creative, confident, and enterprising.

Leo-Suns have a reputation of being theatrical and rightly so, they are the actors/performers of the zodiac. They are creative, magnanimous and, just as the Sun is a life-giver to us earthlings, Leo can also inject life into any room or any conversation. While the Sun is in Leo, be generous of your time and self, just as the Sun generously light up our days. Let the Leo-Sun's warmth help ease your worries. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. It is our job to continue seeking for it and walking towards it. Be confident as you walk your path. Be mindful of keeping the goal in sight and knowing when it's time to tweak the plans and make changes in order complete the tasks at hand. Flexibility is important, as Leo is a fixed sign (stubborn) and the ego can get in the way of progress and growth.

This year, the Sun transits Leo beginning July 22nd at 9:12 p.m. (Pacific) / July 23rd at 12:12 a.m. (Eastern) , where he'll remain until August 23. On the day the Sun enters Leo, he'll quickly quincunx Neptune. We might be inclined to escape a bit which could be ideal for a mini vacation. Depending on where Leo falls in our natal/solar chart, we may require more downtime/rest, as our energy levels decrease and the physical/mental/emotional demands on us increase. This might also be a time where our intuitive abilities are triggered, but we may be unable to trust it completely. There could be confusing details and lack of clarity. If at all possible, hold off important decisions for a few days.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Sun in Cancer ~ June 21 to July 22/23, 2011

Summer is here! (well, for us northern hemisphere folks, anyway :) The Sun joins Mercury and begins his transit in my Sun sign, Cancer, on June 21st at 10:16 a.m. PDT / 1:16 p.m. EDT, where he'll remain until July 22nd (PDT) / July 23rd (EDT). The Sun represents the self we present to the external world, our vital life force, potential, ambitions, intentions, and unrealized/untapped inherent talents/skills.

In Gemini, the Sun is outgoing, chatty, animated, and cerebral. In Cancer, the Sun's energy is focused on the inner workings of the self -- who we are, what we desire, who/what motivates us -- rooted at our hearts and the emotional side of the self. Most Cancer-Suns initially react from the heart and are not necessarily moved by reason or practicality, especially if their gut feelings urge them otherwise. The cardinal sign of Cancer represents our roots, our families, the past, the home, and our emotions. Cancer is sensitive, intuitive, and maternal. She is ruled by the Moon, who moves approximately one degree every 2.5 hours and changes signs (personalities) every 2.5 days, which may help with Cancer-Suns unfortunate reputation of being 'moody' :(

The Sun in Cancer encourages us all to be more attuned to our emotions, sensitivities, intuition, and value our private life enough to give it as much effort as our external drives. This transit period is ideal for reconnecting with family members who we may have neglected but are significant to us; remembering the past (both painful and happy memories) that has helped shape who we are today; spending more time with our immediate family and letting our actions mirror our love for them; and finding balance between satisfying our conscious will and our deepest heart's desires.

This year on July 1st, we'll have a New Moon / Solar Eclipse in Cancer which will be the third consecutive eclipse since June and the last of the Cancer-Capricorn series of eclipses. I, for one, am happy that set of eclipses is over! With Gemini-Sagittarius eclipses in full swing until 2013 and stimulating my natal 4th (home/family) and 10th (career/future goals) houses, I can go without Cancer-Capricorn eclipses all over my solar 1st (self/potential) and 7th (relationships) houses :)

Sun in Gemini ~ May 21 to June 20, 2011

The Sun represents our external drive, our potential, our conscious will. In Taurus, where the Sun has been for past 4 weeks, he is somewhat cautious, practical, grounded, determined, dependable, and driven by material security. In Gemini, the Sun is social, gregarious, cerebral, intelligent, witty, and driven by intellectual and experiential pursuits. At best, the Sun in Gemini is easygoing, understanding, curious, funny, solutions-oriented. At worst, indecisive, non-committal, shallow, unfocused, duplicitous.

Gemini is the original multi-tasker of the zodiac. They can get at least twice the amount of action items done in less time than most people; and they can't quite sit still. Their minds are just as busy and are often thinking of something completely different from whatever actual conversations they are seemingly engrossed in. Geminis are without a doubt intelligent people, but to keep them interested in friendships and other interpersonal relations, mental stimulation is a MUST. Animated and engaged interactions required. Otherwise, it's easy to 'check out' and move on to the next interesting thing, person, topic, object, whatever :)

The Sun in Gemini reminds us that there is more than one way to do things or get to a destination. There are always other points of view to consider and some may be just as credible or feasible as the existing norm, other ideas in development, our personal opinions, etc. Knowledge can be gained from anywhere -- books, people, ideas; it's all around. Even the simplest of concepts can make an impact. A whisper can evoke a loud response. A chance meeting can evolve into a beautiful friendship. A heated debate can produce enough passion to effect a course of action that ultimately results in a change -- hopefully, for the better. Thoughts are valuable. Exchange of ideas are essential for growth, improvement and change, as well as pleasure.

This year, the Sun begins his transit in Gemini on May 21 at 2:21 a.m. PDT / 5:21 a.m. EDT, where he remains until June 20th. Mercury joins the Sun in Gemini on June 2, and Venus follows suit on June 9.

Sun in Taurus ~ April 20 to May 21, 2011

Wall Street Charging Bull credit to New York City Ettractions

Hit the brakes...or prepare to. The Sun sllllllllllooooooowws down in Taurus. No sudden movements.

The Sun represents our vitality, our conscious will, and our untapped potential. In Aries, the Sun is bold, confident, direct, quick-thinking, quick-acting and quick-tempered. In Taurus, the Sun slows down, steps back, makes considerations, and assesses risk vs. gain especially if there's a timeframe to work with. There is no rushing Taurean energy. Taurus moves into action when Taurus is good and ready! Watch out, though, because a Taurean is ready to move, it will take out what's in its way :)

There's comfort in 'stuff' a Taurus-Sun. Acquisition. Shopping. Satisfying the senses. Pleasure. Beauty. Stability. Seek comfort in the familiar with the Sun in Taurus.

While the Sun gets situated in Taurus, Mercury, who has been retrograde since March 30th, spends his last days in retrograde motion and will become direct on April 23rd. On the plus side, whatever we may have been waiting on will now have a chance to move forward with; wherever we may have encountered blocks, those would begin to lift; where communications have been strained, more understanding/clarity await.

On the not so great side, the three days approaching and immediately after April 23rd may be extra challenging, as Mercury changes direction. Mixing it up with this Mercury energy is the Sun's sextile to Neptune between April 19 to 22, which gives a sense of weird/strangeness in the air or maybe wanting to 'check out'/escape. In its highest form, it is enlightenment and having strong intuitive ability. Anyway, please practice patience during this short period, be aware of what your reactions are to situations, and consciously choose how you want to experience your present moment.

After April 26/27, Mercury should be back to his usual speed. This begins a great period for using the Sun in Taurus energy by giving ideas form, developing what may have been started or taking a project into the next phase. It's also an ideal period for solidifying plans, reworking the budget/finances, assessing what is truly of value, or what you really want to invest your time/energy in.

The Sun enters Taurus on April 20 at 3:17 a.m. PDT / 6:17 a.m. EDT and will stay through May 21st. While in Taurus, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • April 20 ~ Sun sextile Neptune. covered above. Also today, Venus enters Aries.
  • April 24 ~ Sun sextile Chiron. A chance to heal/regain your footing or help another gain some grounding/direction.
  • April 27 ~ Sun trine Pluto-rx. Getting into the nitty gritty. What you see may not be all there is. Focusing on what's important. Also today, Venus square Pluto-rx.
  • May 2/3 ~ New Moon in Taurus. May 2 at 11:51 p.m. PDT / May 3 at 2:51 a.m. EDT
  • May 17 ~ Full Moon in Scorpio at 4:09 a.m. PDT / 7:09 a.m. EDT

Sun in Aries ~ March 20 to April 20, 2011

image credit and copyright t Nalini via Paintings I Love

Spring has sprung! Well, for us north of the equator, anyway :) The Sun leaves Pisces and joins Mercury (thought/communication), Jupiter (ideals/opportunities), and Uranus (awakening/radical change) in Aries on March 20 at 1:32 p.m. EST, where he'll remain until April 20. The Sun represents our potential, ego, vitality and conscious will. In Pisces, the Sun is insightful, compassionate, understanding and egoless. In Aries, the Sun is confident, impulsive, instinctual and ready for action.

At best, the Sun in Aries is engaging, a leader, entrepreneurial, creative, independent and impassioned. At worst, callous, abrasive, selfish, jumps to conclusions too easily and is non-committal.

While the Sun is in Aries, we are encouraged to follow our raw, instinctive drives. Be true to who we are and all the facets which make us the unique individuals we are. Embrace the true self and go for whatever it is we desire. We matter, each one of us, and deserve to live the life we envision ourselves living. Entertain the spark of ideas and see where they lead. Find the leader within yourself and make your way.

On the day the Sun enters Aries, he quickly meets up with Uranus at Aries Point. What a rush of energy! Especially coming off of the previous day's Full Moon in Virgo. Whatever we've been waiting on, we may be too excited, too impatient to keep waiting! The good thing is that we spring into action. It could mean creating opportunities for ourselves, instead of relying upon the availability of someone or something else. Perhaps, you experience a big dose of confidence to go after that brilliant plan you came up with a while back. In general, we're more excited than fearful, more experimental than pragmatic, and more optimistic than gloom and doom. Go ahead. Ride the wave of enthusiasm and possibilities. Quit fighting it. Be brave. Enjoy the ride.

Ariens are blessed with having both Jupiter (expansion/opportunities) and Uranus (awakening/radical change) in their sign this year when they celebrate their birthday. It's a rare occasion. Some of them may even have Jupiter or Uranus touching their Sun for their Solar Return chart.

The Sun enters Aries on March 20 at 4:21 p.m. PDT / 7:21 p.m. EDT and will stay through April 20. While in Aries, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • March 21 ~ Sun conjunct Uranus. covered above
  • March 28 ~ Sun square Pluto. Those in position of authority may be exercising a power trip today. Watch out for altercation with superiors in the workplace. Arien energy is brazen and explodes like a bomb when set off. Actions or words spoken have consequences. Do or say what you must, just be prepared to stand by them and/or face whatever the consequences may be. Also today, Jupiter oppose Saturn.
  • April 3 ~ New Moon in Aries at 7:32 a.m. PDT / 10:32 a.m. EDT
  • April 6 ~ Sun conjunct Jupiter. Overall sense of well-being. Confidence. Generosity. Hopefulness. Optimism. Belief in a higher power. Having faith. Personal growth through experience. Openness to learning/being taught.
  • April 9 ~ Sun conjunct Mercury-rx. Quick thinking. Fast talking. Flashes of brilliant ideas. Impatience. Irritability. Impulsiveness. Careful not to say anything you'll regret later or might come back to haunt you later. Also today, Pluto Retrograde.
  • April 17 ~ Full Moon in Libra at 7:44 p.m. PDT / 10:44 p.m. EDT

Sun in Pisces ~ February 18 to March 20, 2011

Pisces via photobucket

At 4:25 p.m. PST / 7:25 p.m. EST on February 18, the Sun leaves cerebral Aquarius for spiritual Pisces, where intuition and insight sometimes rule over logic and reason. The Sun transits Pisces until March 20th. On the same day as the Sun's ingress to Pisces is the Full Moon in Leo which will have occurred at 12:36 a.m. PST /3:36 a.m. EST.

The Sun represents our potential, ego, vitality and conscious will. In Aquarius, the Sun is friendly, independent-thinking, original, and a humanitarian with societal ideals that benefit the masses -- emotionally detached but able to be caring with unwavering conviction. In Pisces, the Sun is imaginative, enlightened, sympathetic, creative, hopeful, intuitive, spiritually aware and able to affect change subtly but effectively. At best, the Sun in Pisces is insightful, compassionate, supportive and understanding. At worst, confused, too sacrificial, unrealistic and emotionally burdened by others' troubles.

While the Sun is in Pisces, we are encouraged to connect or reconnect with our own spiritual selves -- the divine within us. It's so easy to become affected by the busy-ness of our everyday. Each moment of the day is already spoken for, sometimes, before we even wake for that day. We are often pulled in many directions throughout the day, as we get on with all that must be accomplished on any given day. Some of us are multi-taskers with mental functions always ahead of where we are actually at, physically. The Piscean Sun reminds us that there is value in "mindfulness", effect in being "present" and that our "grounding" resides within us.

During this period, the Sun in Pisces also shines upon our capacity for compassion to others, especially during his first few days in the sign when he is conjunct with Chiron (the wounded healer) and under a tense alignment between Venus and Saturn, which could make relationships even more challenging. These four weeks may be an ideal time to do some volunteer work, participate in grassroots activities for causes that you believe in, connect with others who have similar spiritual pursuits, or just simply doing random acts of kindness within your immediate environment.

It's a special year for Pisces-Suns and risings this year with Mars also transiting Pisces beginning February 22nd. Those born on or after February 22 will have Mars (action/assertion) in their sign for their Solar Return year, which could be a BIG confidence booster that also offers increased assertiveness for their personal year. This is very exciting since Uranus (radical/unexpected) will rejoin Jupiter (expansion/opportunities) in Aries next month to shake things up in Pisces' 2nd house of income and values.

While in Pisces, the Sun will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America PST time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • February 25 ~ Sun conjunct Mercury, while both sextile Pluto ~ Clear the air. Uncover what's hidden. Meaningful connections. Resisting or avoiding change only delay the inevitable. Also today, Jupiter square Pluto.
  • March 4 ~ New Moon in Pisces at 12:46 p.m. PST / 3:46 p.m. EST
  • March 6 ~ Sun quincunx Saturn-rx ~ Obligations limit freedoms. Reality check. Accepting difficult truths. Finding the strength to keep going. Need for perseverance.
  • March 19 ~ Full Moon in Virgo at 11:10 a.m. PST / 2:10 p.m. EST

Sun in Aquarius ~ January 20 to February 18, 2011

Water bearer copryright to Alosh Bennett via flickr

The day after the Full Moon in Cancer, the Sun leaves Capricorn to join Mars in transiting Aquarius. The Sun visits Aquarius from January 20 at 2:19 a.m. PST / 5:19 a.m. EST to February 18.

The Sun represents our vitality, potential, ego and conscious will. In Capricorn, the Sun is realistic, determined, purposeful and an achiever. In Aquarius, the Sun is idealistic, experimental, forward-thinking and a humanitarian. At best, the Sun in Aquarius is friendly, socially aware, civic-minded, advocates change for the greater good, and an intellectual. At worst, a risk-taker at any cost, abrupt, unpredictable, and unable to develop a sound plan to successfully carry out objectives.

While the Sun is in Aquarius, we are reminded that our situations are changeable. We do not need to keep operating on auto-pilot. We do not need to stay in a situation that no longer challenges us or gives us happiness. We are reminded that there is life outside what's familiar or comfortable, that our life is indeed well within our control. It's okay to rock the boat, if the rocking produces an improved situation or, at the very least, the awareness for the need of an improvement to the existing situation.

Those with birthdays from January 22 and later will have both Mars in Aquarius and Jupiter in Aries for their Solar Return (astrological birthday). Mars is action, motivation, self-assertion, and drive. His energy in Aquarius should help with making things happen ... not just thinking or talking about things, but actually doing something about it. Jupiter is the planet of plenty, luck, opportunities, expansion, and personal growth. His transit in Aries happens in third house of thought, communication and siblings for Aquarians and Aquarius-risings. Big ideas. Inventive. Unique. Perhaps adopting new ways of communication. Maybe spoken/written words will be more influential or be listened to by those who normally wouldn't pay any mind. Improved relations with siblings is also a possibility. However it may actually manifest, Jupiter's energy in pioneering Aries should prove beneficial during the return year.

Sun in Capricorn ~ Dec. 21, 2010 to Jan. 20, 2011

Goat Fish by Brian E Alvarez via Elfwood

The Sun transits Capricorn starting at 3:38 p.m. PST / 6:38 p.m. EST on December 21st until January 20, 2011. On the same day and prior to the Sun leaving Sagittarius for Capricorn, a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini occurs at 12:13 a.m. PST / 3:13 a.m. EST. This eclipse begins a new set of Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses series which will continue through 2013.

The Sun represents our vitality, our conscious will, and our untapped potential. In Capricorn, the Sun is tenacious, willful, ambitious, goal-oriented, and not afraid to do the hard work required to achieve goals. While the Sun is in Capricorn, we are reminded that each of us have a purpose in life. There are goals we work toward. The Sun in Capricorn picks up where the Sun in Sagittarius left off. In Sagittarius, our ideals take center stage. The Sun is a visionary in Sagittarius. In Capricorn, the Sun takes what's been envisioned and finds a way to make it happen -- to make the commitment, devise the plan, do the work, gain success, and receive the recognition. What are your short-term or long-term goals?

While in Capricorn, the Sun will connect with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • January 4 ~ New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn at 12:50 a.m. PST / 3:50 a.m. EST while Jupiter and Uranus also in a conjunction.
  • January 7 ~ Sun square Saturn. Saturn highlights the cracks to our foundation, especially regarding our significant relationships. Take the information to heart. But instead of being overwhelmed or depressed by what has been illuminated upon, use what you now know to make plans for reparation, communication, etc. Also today, Venus enters Sagittarius giving us hopefulness and optimism in matters of the heart, as well as as our financial situation.
  • January 17 ~ Sun sextile Uranus. Unpredictability. Breaking away from the norm. Need for individuality/freedom. Brilliant outlook. Unconventional solutions to existing problems. Opportunities from unlikely places or sources. Also today, Mercury conjunct Pluto for a focused, penetrating and organized mind that complements the Sun-Uranus sextile well.

Sun in Sagittarius ~ Nov. 22 to Dec. 21, 2010

Orsay Archer by Kathryn Gordon

Bright. Expansive. Far-sighted. Idealistic. Opportunistic. Jolly. The Sun comes out from the deep waters of Scorpio to join Mercury (thought) and Mars (action) in transiting the sign of the archer, Sagittarius, from November 22 until December 21.

The Sun represents the self we present to the external world, our vital life force, potential, ambitions, intentions, and unrealized/untapped inherent talents/skills. While the Sun in Scorpio may have been intense, careful, methodical, and concerned with longevity, in Sagittarius, the Sun is in good spirits, adventurous, open-minded, and opportunistic with big, bold ideas!

At best, the Sun in Sagittarius is lucky, wise, curious, friendly, popular, and just. At worst, non-committal, careless, and gives empty promises. Life is in the living, experiencing and growing. It's the journey, not just the destination.

Until December 7th, the Sun has Mars' energy to aid him in Sagittarius. Mars in Sagittarius is driven to act fueled by our ideals, and decisions are motivated by the idea of growth/development. Bigger. Better. Faster. Newer. Ideal. Mercury is also in Sagittarius until November 30, will retrograde (be more introspective/reflective) on December 10 and return to Sagittarius from December 18 until January 14 of the new year. This extended stay is wonderful news for Sagittarius-Suns and Risings, especially for those Sagittarians born December 11 or later, especially with Mercury linking to Uranus and Neptune during the December 21st Lunar Eclipse (more on this later). Mercury in Sagittarius is a visionary, dreams big and is good-humored. Dreams. Aspirations. Experiences. Interactions.

While the Sun is in Sagittarius, dare to dream a little ... or a lot. Allow Sagittarian ideals to stir excitement within yourself. Let yourself be okay with being unsatisfied with simply existing and living in automatic mode. Have the courage to seek out living a passionate life, where your days are filled with people and activities that make you feel like your life is fulfilling instead of just full. Entertaining such thoughts won't mean you'll be dropping everything irresponsibly for the sake what could be. It simply helps widen your horizons and perhaps enlighten you to what you truly need or want out of life, at this juncture in your life. There's no harm in dreaming :)

The Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22 at 2:17 a.m. PST / 5:15 a.m. EST and will stay through December 21. While in Sagittarius, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • December 5 ~ New Moon in Sagittarius at 9:36 a.m. PST / 12:36 p.m. EST.
  • December 7 ~ Sun sextile Saturn. Time to get in gear and create structure or re-establish foundation or renew commitments. Keen awareness of the the strings attached within our relationships -- may it be intimate, family, friendships, bosses, colleagues, etc. How does this knowledge make you feel?
  • December 10 to 20 ~ Mercury Retrograde.
  • December 16 ~ Sun square Jupiter. Dream BIG. Good moods. Overall trust in universe. Opportunities that seem too good to be true maybe are. Be mindful of not overdoing, overextending yourself, or overestimating situations.
  • December 18 to 19 ~ Sun square Uranus; sextile Neptune & Chiron; and conjunct Mercury-rx. Promising. Hopefulness. Radical changes for the better. Sagittarians celebrating a birthday during this period are likely blessed to carry this hopeful energy with them until their birthday next year. Also today, retrograde-Mercury returns to Sagittarius to stay until mid-January.
  • December 21 ~ Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Gemini at 12:13 a.m. PST / 3:13 a.m. EST, which occurs within the same day as the Sun's entrance into Capricorn at 3:38 p.m. PST / 6:38 p.m. EST. This eclipse starts off the Gemini/Sagittarius set of eclipses occurring through 2013.

Sun in Scorpio ~ Oct. 23 to Nov. 22, 2010

After joining forces with Saturn (obligations/hard work) and Mercury (thought/communication) in Libra to help shine upon our relationships with others, he moves on to transit Scorpio beginning October 23, where he'll remain until November 22. The Sun rejoins Mercury, who will have just gotten settled in Scorpio a few days prior, a retrograde Venus and Mars in Scorpio.

The Sun represents our ego, conscious will, and potential which includes our hidden potential that is inherent but undiscovered. In Libra, the Sun’s focus is on our relationships, interactions, and balancing the needs/desires of the self with that of another’s/others. In Scorpio, the Sun also helps in illuminating upon our relationships, through a more in depth understanding of them. This is especially true this year, with Venus (relationships/finances) retrograde (introspective) through November 18 and in Scorpio through November 7, returning to Libra for the duration of the Sun's transit in Scorpio.

As a water sign, Scorpio's energy is more intuitive than logical and more instinctive than reasonable. Scorpios place great importance and are usually focused on uncovering what lies beneath the surface to identify find truth, down to its core. They are the investigators/researchers of the zodiac. Driven by their unending curiosity coupled with their strong intuition, they must have complete understanding of people, situations, or things; anything less is unacceptable. The Sun is serious, intense, seeking meaning/understanding and must answer all the "whys" in Scorpio. Intensity might just be what to expect for the remainder of October with so much activity in Scorpio.

While the Sun is in Scorpio, make a conscious effort to listen to our gut feelings more often, nurture our intuitive abilities, and give in to the Sun's urgings for us to dig deeper. Seek the source instead of just identifying the symptoms. It is through this deeper, fuller understanding that allows us to push through, become empowered, and then transformed. Where in our lives can we use a transformation?

With Jupiter (ideals) and Uranus (awakening) still within a few degrees of each other in the sign of Pisces (insight), our efforts in delving deeper and seeking within are well supported.

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 at 5:35 a.m. PST (8:35 a.m. EST) and will stay through November 22. While in Scorpio, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 26 ~ Sun sextile Pluto. Intensity. Need for control. Tap into hidden, natural talents/abilities. Personal empowerment gained through awareness and wholehearted acceptance of truths, even if they are painful or harsh or not what's expected.
  • October 28 ~ Sun conjunct Venus-rx. In love and money, commitment and expectations are for the long haul.
  • November 5/6 ~ New Moon in Scorpio on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. PST / on November 6 at 12:52 a.m. EST. Also today, Neptune Direct on November 6 at 11:04 p.m. PST / November 7 at 1:04 a.m. EST.
  • November 15 ~ Sun trine Jupiter-rx. Dream big, yes. Just keep one foot rooted on the ground. With Mars and Saturn sextile, you'll be able to see and understand the obstacles ahead to the big dream. Let this "ceiling" give us the foresight of what limitations or hurdles we may have to work around or jump over in order to continue toward the goal.
  • November 18 ~ Sun square Chiron-rx & Neptune-rx; and trine Uranus-rx. Ouch. Deep cuts. Awareness is key that leads to acceptance so healing can begin. Help another if your aid is requested, but no judgements. Avoid getting lost in your head/dreams/visions. Life is about living ... and sometimes, living out loud! Solitude may be necessary now, just make sure you're actually spending quality time alone and not hiding or escaping. Otherwise, you might miss out on opportunities from unlikely places/sources. Expect the unexpected. It's ok to have an abrupt change of mind or feel the need to break away and venture on your own. Also today, Jupiter and Venus station direct.
  • November 21 ~ Full Moon in Taurus at 9:27 a.m. PST / 12:27 p.m. EST

Sun in Libra ~ September 22 to October 23, 2010

Libra via Fanpop

For the first time in a long time, the Sun joins Saturn (karmic lessons) in Libra. The Sun represents our external drive, our potential, our conscious will. In Virgo, the Sun is somewhat shy, cautious and conservative. In Libra, the Sun is social, accommodating and fair-minded. At best, Libra is charming, diplomatic and objective. At worst, indecisive, self-indulgent and gullible. The Libra-Sun encourages harmony between the individual self (who I am) and the shared self (who I am with another).

The Sun enters Libra on September 22 at 8:09 p.m. PST (11:09 p.m. EST) and will stay through October 23. While in Libra, the Sun urges to find the balance between remaining true to who we are even in a relationship, practice objectivity, and be reminded that we are creatures who flourish when making connections with others. Libra is governed by the planet of love, Venus, who, for the duration of the Sun's transit in Libra, transits the passionate waters of Scorpio, where she must know "how deep is your love?"

On the day the Sun enters Libra, the Moon waxes for a Full Moon the following day. This is the first of two Full Moons in Aries -- September 23 and October 22 -- giving relationship-related matters extra emphasis, especially the balance between the self and the shared self.

With Saturn also in Libra, the underlying truths surrounding our relationships (intimate, platonic, familial or with the self) become crystal clear and some realities may be too difficult to face/accept. This is, however, what we must do and part of Saturn's lesson -- upon becoming aware of truth/s, we must learn to come to terms with it/them, and be able to make changes where we can or embrace them as part of who we are/part of our life without judgement, fear, hatred or anger. With two Full Moons (Libra-Sun opposing Aries-Moon), we are afforded twice the opportunity for endings/closures/resolutions with regards to unhealthy, unhappy relationships -- whether with the self or with another.

While in Libra, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • September 23 ~ Full Moon in Aries at 2:17 a.m. PST (5:17 a.m. EST)
  • September 25 ~ Sun square Pluto. Confrontations. Hidden truths coming to light. Difficulties/hardships/intensity leading to breakthroughs/endings/purging.
  • September 30 ~ Sun conjunct Saturn. Obligations/commitments restrict. Realities clear. Hard work.
  • October 7 ~ New Moon in Libra at 11:45 a.m. PST (2:45 p.m. EST)
  • October 16 ~ Sun conjunct Mercury. Finding a voice to ideas. Able to express the self with ease. Charming quality. Diplomacy.
  • October 18 to 20 ~ Sun quincunx Jupiter-rx (18th); trine Neptune-rx & Chiron-rx (19th); and quincunx Uranus-rx (20th). Opportunity for healing or receiving insight. Attitude adjustment is key. Alternatively, this is also a chance to be of help to another/others. Also, during this time, Libra-Mercury makes the same connections with Neptune, Chiron and Uranus before entering Scorpio; while Mars trines Jupiter.
  • October 22 ~ Full Moon in Aries at 6:37 p.m. PST (9:37 p.m. EST)
