Venus Re-enters Scorpio ~ Nov. 29, 2010-Jan. 7, 2011

Scorpio by mariyanikiforova via deviantart

Hooray for Scorpio-Suns and Risings! Here's comes a reprise visit from Venus. Make it worth your while :) Although Scorpios and fellow water signs may enjoy Venus re-entering Scorpio more than others, we can all find some benefit from her return to Scorpio. Venus initially entered Scorpio on September 8, but her retrograde cycle interrupted her from completing her transit in Scorpio. Earlier this month on November 7th, Venus returned to Libra. Then, on the 18th, she began direct motion once more. Now on the 29th, Venus gets a chance to finish what she started in September and transit Scorpio completely.

From November 29th to December 21st, Venus makes a third and final pass through zero to around 13 degrees of Scorpio. Those born around October 23 to November 6 may get Venus blending energies with their natal Sun for a third time this year. Those with natal planets and/or house angles between zero to 13 degrees of fixed signs may also feel the effects of Venus retracing her steps in Scorpio.

Regardless of our Sun/Rising sign or natal planetary placements, we can all benefit from Venus retracing her steps in Scorpio and in her completion of her transit in Scorpio. Until the 21st of December, we have the chance to pick up where we might have left things off last month when Venus started her retrograde cycle. Perhaps the weeks she spent being introspective also had us reflecting on our own situations, in love or money. Now, we get a chance to do something about what we were enlightened upon.

Other than finances or relationships, Venus also represents our values/value system and self-worth. So, some of us may have mulled over what our personal values are, where our priorities lie; and maybe, resulting in our redefining our values or re-prioritizing some things in our life. On an even more personal level, we might have gained insight on the subject of "worth" -- material worth vs. self-worth. Especially with the recent Taurus-Full Moon, is our self-worth tied to our wealth/possessions? Are we more worthy or valuable as an individual if we owned more stuff? What do we truly value? And how do we assess what's valuable?

While Venus is in Scorpio, before revisiting Libra and after returning to Scorpio, she will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • December 1 ~ Mercury sextile Venus. Thinking about relationships or finances or both. In relationships, it's a good time to clear the air. Say what's on your mind. In finances, allow Mercury's pragmatism in Capricorn to help with money matters. Whatever may be going on in your world, opt for finding a solution to your situation. Seek counsel from someone more experienced or a wiser person.
  • December 8 ~ Venus sextile Pluto. Seeing the depth of things, especially within relationships. Cutting through lies or deception. Uncovering what's hidden. Finding a solution.
  • December 10 ~ Mercury-rx sextile Venus. Once again, they meet. This time around, Mercury is station-retrograde. Best for reflection. Careful what you say. Passions rise with Scorpio-Venus plus possible miscommunication/misunderstanding with Merc-rx can cause more trouble than it should. Watch out for pettiness or holding grudges. Opt for forgiveness and kindness.
  • January 4 & 5 ~ Venus square Neptune/Chiron and trine Jupiter/Uranus. Compassion. Healing. Coming to terms. Hopefulness. An awakening. A release. Breaking free. Also on January 4, a New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Capricorn at 1:03 a.m. PST / 4:03 a.m. EST and the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction perfects.

How might Venus' return to Scorpio influence your birth chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Scorpio. Match the sign and degrees the house cusp/s on your birth chart. What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

Venus Direct ~ November 18, 2010

Hemispheric View of Venus via NASA

Finally! Venus stations for direct motion on November 18. She's been retrograde since October 8. More recently, she returned home to Libra on November 7, where she remains until the 29th.

As written on a previous post,

Venus represents our relationships (all types -- intimate, platonic, family and that with the self), our material wealth, our value system/s, our self-worth, our capacity to see beauty in the world, and our desires.

While retrograde, Venus urged us to seek within and reflect upon issues related to our relationships, finances and self-worth. In Scorpio, Venus' focus may be in "value" -- what this object, person, belief is worth? how much influence does it have on the self? is this influence a positive one that nurtures personal growth or provides true happiness? what attachments (material or otherwise) do we cling to and why? In Libra, Venus's focus may in our relationships -- how do they enhance or limit our lives? how does the dynamic of this relationship promote self-growth?

From November 18 until approximately December 20, Venus will pass through the same degrees from 17 degrees of Libra to 13 degrees of Scorpio for the third and last time. This gives us a chance to apply what we may have learned while she was retrograde.

On the day Venus changes direction, Jupiter in Pisces, who has been retrograde since July 23 will also station for direct motion. Elsewhere in the sky on this same day, the Scorpio-Sun (ego/potential) squares Neptune (hope/enlightenment) and Chiron (wounds/healing) while also trine Uranus (radical change). Avoid getting lost in your head/dreams/visions. Life is about living ... and sometimes, living out loud! Although solitude may be necessary now, make sure you're actually spending quality time alone and not hiding or escaping. Otherwise, you might miss out on opportunities from unlikely places/sources. Expect the unexpected. It's ok to have an abrupt change of mind or feel the need to break away and venture on your own.

Look to the astrological house/s where 17 degrees of Libra to 13 degrees of Scorpio fall into. This should give you an idea of where in your life Venus' transit may be influencing you and/or where you can make the most of its energy. If you don't have your birth chart handy, cast your own -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am available for personal consultations. Schedule your session for a 3-chart package, Solar Return (birthdays), Saturn Return (major life event) or Synastry (relationships) reading. Or you might also consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Have a question or need a quote for a more customized reading, ask me here. Or feel free to cruise on over to the AstroCreeps and TarotFreaks Forum* to start or join a discussion.

New Moon in Scorpio ~ November 5/6, 2010

Scorpio via Sodahead

Scorpio-Suns and risings, rejoice! It's a new moon in your sign. The past few weeks have been filled with "excitement" for you -- some good, some unexpected, and other times, you might have just wanted to be left alone. At one point, we have four celestial bodies in Scorpio! So much action in one sign can affect our day to day a lot since each of us are affected differently by the energies around us. And Scorpio is an energy that could get too intense for some. Well, a new moon is upon us. Time for a renewal!

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Scorpio qualities (intuitive, passionate, devoted, focused) and 8th house themes (in the physical realm, debt and shared resources; in the spiritual plane, elimination and transformation).

Scorpio is jointly governed by Pluto, who is busy restructuring our foundation in Capricorn and Mars, who is actively pursuing possibilities in Sagittarius. In Scorpio, the Moon seeks truth, answers in order to thoroughly understand situations and will keep digging as many layers deep as necessary to arrive at the core. The Scorpio-Moon gives us the power to let go and to regenerate.

This Scorpio-New Moon (blending energies of heart & soul) occurs when two other planets are also in Scorpio -- Mercury (thought/communication) and Venus (relationships/finances). Venus is also still retrograde (introspective).

Elsewhere in the sky, another pairing, Pluto (transformation; also, Scorpio's ruler) and the North Node (life path), gets ever closer to perfecting which have longer term impact on "where we are going" or "what we are doing, should be doing or want to do". They will perfect their conjunction on November 9. Also, happening during the Scorpio-New Moon is a difficult alignment between Mercury (thought) and Neptune (insight), where our minds may challenged to perceive situations from a more spiritual or intuitive method versus a logical or practical means.

During this new moon phase (approximately two weeks), let's renew our hearts and minds. Realize that it's never too late to make a change. And although any change can be daunting, with thorough planning, commitment, hard work and passion, success is imminent. This is also an ideal time to consider alternative avenues or methods to what you're used to. Seed the soul with what motivates the heart. Therein, lies a beginning.

This new moon occurs on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. (PST) / November 6 at 12:52 a.m. (EST) and at 14 degrees of Scorpio. Those born within 3 days of November 5 or May 3; or have planets/house angles around 14 degrees of fixed signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon trines my Mars (action/motivation), squares my Venus (love/money) and oppose my Saturn (structure/responsibilities); it falls in my 2nd house of income and values (as a Virgo-rising) and in my 5th house of creative projects (as a Cancer-Sun). While all that is happening, Pluto and the North Node continue to oppose my natal Sun and will keep doing it for quite some time. Scrap the old plans. Draw up something new. Get over whatever disappointments there may have been. Focus on a new path. Be reminded that I am only limited by my own self-imposed ceiling. Okay, good luck with that :)

How might this new moon influence your life? Look to the natal house/s this new moon will occupy in your birth chart. Match the sign and degree to the sign on the house cusp/s. Use the list below to identify the Scorpio zodiac sign then click here to read about the New Moon in Houses.

Sun in Scorpio ~ Oct. 23 to Nov. 22, 2010

After joining forces with Saturn (obligations/hard work) and Mercury (thought/communication) in Libra to help shine upon our relationships with others, he moves on to transit Scorpio beginning October 23, where he'll remain until November 22. The Sun rejoins Mercury, who will have just gotten settled in Scorpio a few days prior, a retrograde Venus and Mars in Scorpio.

The Sun represents our ego, conscious will, and potential which includes our hidden potential that is inherent but undiscovered. In Libra, the Sun’s focus is on our relationships, interactions, and balancing the needs/desires of the self with that of another’s/others. In Scorpio, the Sun also helps in illuminating upon our relationships, through a more in depth understanding of them. This is especially true this year, with Venus (relationships/finances) retrograde (introspective) through November 18 and in Scorpio through November 7, returning to Libra for the duration of the Sun's transit in Scorpio.

As a water sign, Scorpio's energy is more intuitive than logical and more instinctive than reasonable. Scorpios place great importance and are usually focused on uncovering what lies beneath the surface to identify find truth, down to its core. They are the investigators/researchers of the zodiac. Driven by their unending curiosity coupled with their strong intuition, they must have complete understanding of people, situations, or things; anything less is unacceptable. The Sun is serious, intense, seeking meaning/understanding and must answer all the "whys" in Scorpio. Intensity might just be what to expect for the remainder of October with so much activity in Scorpio.

While the Sun is in Scorpio, make a conscious effort to listen to our gut feelings more often, nurture our intuitive abilities, and give in to the Sun's urgings for us to dig deeper. Seek the source instead of just identifying the symptoms. It is through this deeper, fuller understanding that allows us to push through, become empowered, and then transformed. Where in our lives can we use a transformation?

With Jupiter (ideals) and Uranus (awakening) still within a few degrees of each other in the sign of Pisces (insight), our efforts in delving deeper and seeking within are well supported.

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 at 5:35 a.m. PST (8:35 a.m. EST) and will stay through November 22. While in Scorpio, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 26 ~ Sun sextile Pluto. Intensity. Need for control. Tap into hidden, natural talents/abilities. Personal empowerment gained through awareness and wholehearted acceptance of truths, even if they are painful or harsh or not what's expected.
  • October 28 ~ Sun conjunct Venus-rx. In love and money, commitment and expectations are for the long haul.
  • November 5/6 ~ New Moon in Scorpio on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. PST / on November 6 at 12:52 a.m. EST. Also today, Neptune Direct on November 6 at 11:04 p.m. PST / November 7 at 1:04 a.m. EST.
  • November 15 ~ Sun trine Jupiter-rx. Dream big, yes. Just keep one foot rooted on the ground. With Mars and Saturn sextile, you'll be able to see and understand the obstacles ahead to the big dream. Let this "ceiling" give us the foresight of what limitations or hurdles we may have to work around or jump over in order to continue toward the goal.
  • November 18 ~ Sun square Chiron-rx & Neptune-rx; and trine Uranus-rx. Ouch. Deep cuts. Awareness is key that leads to acceptance so healing can begin. Help another if your aid is requested, but no judgements. Avoid getting lost in your head/dreams/visions. Life is about living ... and sometimes, living out loud! Solitude may be necessary now, just make sure you're actually spending quality time alone and not hiding or escaping. Otherwise, you might miss out on opportunities from unlikely places/sources. Expect the unexpected. It's ok to have an abrupt change of mind or feel the need to break away and venture on your own. Also today, Jupiter and Venus station direct.
  • November 21 ~ Full Moon in Taurus at 9:27 a.m. PST / 12:27 p.m. EST

Mercury in Scorpio ~ Oct. 20 to Nov. 8, 2010

After a brief three weeks in Libra, Mercury sprints over to Scorpio on October 20 at 2:19 p.m. PST / 5:15 p.m. EST, where he remains until November 8. Mercury represents how we think, how we process information, and how we communicate the information we've processed. He also governs transportation, commerce and trade.

In Libra, Mercury is social, friendly, collaborative, and requires understanding both sides on any situation before making any judgements or decisions. In Scorpio, conversations deepen, interactions seek meaning, and curiosities must be satisfied. All the "whys" must be answered, no matter how never-ending they may seem. Scorpio energy must seek truth, identifying where or what any situation is rooted from.

At best, Mercury in Scorpio is eerily attuned to the innerworkings of the psyche and unseen world. It's a mind that is determined, committed, and unrelenting. Penetrating. Deep understanding. Conversations are meaningful. At worst, Scorpio-Mercury is stubborn, paranoid, quick to judge, fearful, distrustful, and unwilling to try if there are little or no assurance for success.

While in Scorpio, Mercury will align with the following celestial bodies on (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 22 ~ Mercury sextile Pluto. Focus. Concentration. Analytical, probing mind. Curiosities high. Also today, Full Moon in Aries at 6:37 p.m. PST / 9:37 p.m. EST
  • October 25 ~ Mercury conjunct Venus-rx. Relationships deepen. Strings attached. Interactions intensify. In financial matters, shrewd money management.
  • November 4 ~ Mercury trine Jupiter-rx. Big dreams? Have faith? Feeling hopeful? That's fine. Just avoid committing to anything you can't actually deliver. Overoptimism easy now. Don't be a show off. Allow actions to speak louder than words.
  • November 5 & 6 ~ Mercury square Chiron-rxNeptune-rx; and trine Uranus-rx. Mercury's square with Chiron helps identify possible obstacles in achieving goals. Let this "ceiling" give us the foresight of what limitations or hurdles we may have to work around or jump over in order to continue toward our objectives. So go ahead and dream big. One foot is firmly stepping on solid ground. Also today, New Moon in Scorpio on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. PST / November 6 at 12:52 a.m. EST and Neptune Direct on November 6 at 11:04 p.m. PST / November 7 at 1:04 a.m. EST.

Venus Retrograde ~ Oct. 8 to Nov. 18, 2010

Venus Unveiled copyright to Magellan Project, NASA

My very first post on this blog was last year's Venus retrograde. Has it been 18 months already?! Time flies ...

Venus retrogrades about every 18 months. Her last retrograde cycle was March 9 to April 17, 2009 in the sign of Aries. This time around Venus retrogrades from October 8 to November 18. She stations at 13 degrees of Scorpio, revisiting all the way back to 17 degrees of Libra. Venus returns to Libra on November 7 and re-enters Scorpio on November 29 to stay until January 7, 2011.

Venus represents our relationships (all types -- intimate, platonic, family and that with the self), our material wealth, our value system/s, our self-worth, our capacity to see beauty in the world, and our desires.

As with any retrograde planet, this period is a time for the prefix "re" -- reflection, reconnecting, reviewing relationships, redefining worth, and re-examining value system. So reassess, as necessary and as much as you want, but avoid making any major financial, relationship or other life-changing decisions during this period. You might just have a change of heart later.

When Venus is retrograde, it's a time to reflect upon issues related to our relationships, finances and self-worth.

This retrograde cycle happens while Saturn (maturity/reality) is also in Libra, which happens to be one of the signs that Venus governs. Saturn in Libra teaches us about our relationships by showing us the reality of our situations, the flaws within these partnerships and the cracks on the foundation that these relationships are built on. Through gaining a full understanding of what truly is, we're able to assess our situation with sobering honesty that, ideally, should help us make wiser decisions going forward.

Venus' retrograde cycle might pose more challenges to those with natal personal planets or house angles within the degrees of Scorpio and Libra that she'll be revisiting, especially on or around the station days (October 8 & November 18). Those with natal Saturn between 8 and 13 degrees of Libra may also find this to be an extra difficult period because you are also going through your Saturn Return. Those with their Libra-Sun and Ascendant at 8 to 13 degrees of Libra would also be subjected to Saturn conjunct (blending energies) with their Sun/Ascendant, while their Sun/Ascendant ruler, Venus, is retrograde and extra introspective.

For me, as a Virgo-rising, this Venus' retrograde cycle falls in my natal 1st (self/potential) and natal 2nd (income/values) houses with Libra governing my natal 2nd house. Ouch! It's never fun when any transiting planets retrograde in your income house, but even more unpleasant when it's the money planet retrograde in your money house. My natal Jupiter is station direct right on the cusp of my natal 2nd house and trine my natal Midheaven so, I am guilty of splurging here and there and, at times, being overly optimistic with future plans. Saturn's current transit through my natal 1st house has been and continues to be a great, big dose of reality :) especially with Pluto still opposing my Sun for quite some time. This Venus retrograde continues my pruning and purging (Pluto oppose my Sun) and cutting off excess (Saturn in Libra) materially, emotionally and spiritually.

How might Venus' retrograde period influence you? Look to the astrological house/s where 17 degrees of Libra to 13 degrees of Scorpio fall into. This should give you an idea of where in your life this retrograde might manifest and/or where you can make the most of its energy. If you don't have your birth chart handy, cast your own -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am available for personal consultations. Schedule your session for a 3-chart package, Solar Return (birthdays), Saturn Return (major life event) or Synastry (relationships) reading. I can also tailor a reading to fit a client's needs -- request a quote. Or you might also consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Mars in Scorpio ~ September 14 to October 27, 2010

Just a week prior, on September 8, Venus leaves Libra for Scorpio. Mars follows her lead on September 14 when he gets more serious and intense in Scorpio. Mars is the planet of action, energy and movement. He represents our physical drives, aggression, passions, anger, self-assertion, confidence, and the motivation behind our efforts.

In Libra, Mars is fair-minded and accommodating, but can be bossy and indecisive. In Scorpio, Mars is at home since he jointly governs the sign of Scorpio with the dwarf planet, Pluto. At best, Mars in Scorpio is passionate, intense, devoted, enjoys challenges/competition, and has an impressively keen intuitive sense. At worst, obsessive, distrustful, destructive, unforgiving and fearful.

While Mars is in Scorpio, actions are motivated by getting to the source of problems and to deal with issues at the root instead of simply finding solutions to the symptoms ... driven to keep digging and uncovering until all that's left is the truth which can be harsh and difficult to accept. Actions or decisions taken after becoming aware are what matters -- will actions help you move forward or crush you in the weight of the realities/truths of your situation? Get your mojo back with Mars in Scorpio.

In Scorpio, Mars is determined, and if one allows the self to awareness and trust of their own intuitive ability, actions can yield results that exceed what was expected. Intent plays an equally great role. Focus and actions rooted in love and light opens the path to empowerment. However, the opposite is also true with focus and actions that are rooted in hate or desperation which could result in loathing (the self or others), the need to control (others or situations), or even violence (to the self or toward others).

Allow Mars in Scorpio to help you discover or rediscover your own self-power and what it feels like to make empowered decisions/actions. If there is fear, be challenged to improve without taking from another. If there is doubt, seek truth for its own sake without being righteous. If there is hate, choose love -- begin with the self and realize how destructive to happiness and life hate can be. What we resist, persists. But energy flows, where our attention goes. So, focus on the desired outcome and move towards it with love and light to help guide your way.

On a separate note, another big celestial event occurs on tthe day Mars begins his transit in Scorpio -- Pluto, who has been retrograde since April 7, stations and prepares for direct motion.

Mars enters Scorpio on September 8 at 3:38 p.m. PST (6:38 p.m. EST) and will stay through October 27 PST (October 28 EST). While in Scorpio, Mars will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • September 18 ~ Mars sextile Pluto. Need for actions to be meaningful. Analyzing situations deeply before taking action. Determination. Also today, Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Pisces.
  • October 3 ~ Mars conjunct Venus. How deep is your love? Intense connections. Relationships deepen. Also today, Mercury joins the Sun and Saturn in Libra.
  • October 20 ~ Mars trine Jupiter-rx. Opportunities. Overall optimism. Luck. Make strides toward future goals, whether their short term or longer term goals. Also today, Mercury joins Mars and a retrograde-Venus in Scorpio.
  • October 22 ~ Mars square Neptune-rx and Chiron-rx. Chance for healing, whether it's the self or helping others. Release. Let go. Have faith. Also today, Full Moon in Aries at 6:37 p.m. PST / 9:37 p.m. EST, which is the second full moon in Aries this year; the first occurrence was on September 23.
  • October 24 ~ Mars trine Uranus-rx. Surprises. Expect the unexpected. In water signs, listen to your intuitive self. You might just be surprised :)

Venus in Scorpio ~ September 8 to November 7, 2010

Scorpio image credit and copyright to JekyYoung via deviantart.com

How deep is your love? Venus in Scorpio really needs to know. In Scorpio, Venus isn't only interested in whether she's loved, but how much. And words mean nothing if actions or intentions do not support them. Scorpio is a deeply feeling sign that is not too concerned with superficialities. Venus in Scorpio gets into the very core of what lies within our hearts.

Venus represents love (how we love & how we want to be loved), relationships (how we relate to others & the self), worth (material and self), our values and personal tastes. In Scorpio, Venus' pleasure-seeking ways are intense, passionate, provocative and committed. At best, Venus in Scorpio is emotionally aware, dedicated and loyal. At worst, possessive, secretive, jealous and distrustful.

Venus leaves the charming, harmony-loving and fair-minded sign of Libra for the deeply complex waters of Scorpio on September 8 at 8:44 a.m. PST (11:44 a.m. EST) for an extended stay until November 7 and again from November 29 to January 11, 2011. Venus retrogrades from October 8 until November 18, 2010, revisits Libra from November 7 to November 29, and then re-enters Scorpio until January 7, 2011!

While Venus is in Scorpio, we are reminded of the emotional ties involved in relationships and what truly keep us connected to the relationships we've got now. Love is beyond romance or feelings. Relationships mean more than time spent together and promises made. And sex is a deeper experience than bodies meeting and satisfying each other. No fly by night love for Venus in Scorpio. What do you value in your relationships? How deeply are you connected to your significant ties?

On the day Venus initially slips into Scorpio, she follows a New Moon in Virgo which promotes beginnings. Venus also ill-fatedly aligns with Jupiter on this day and results in the need for adjustment. It could be adjusting one's point of view and making a conscious effort to see from another perspective; or adjusting one's attitude to reflect a more positive, yet realistic, outlook and be more solutions-oriented. Together with the New Moon, the first two weeks of Venus' transit in Scorpio can provide a renewal in our relationships, finances and help redefine our values and self-worth.

While Venus is in Scorpio, before revisiting Libra and after returning to Scorpio, she will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • September 8 ~ Venus quincunx Jupiter-rx. covered above; Also today, the New Moon in Virgo at 3:30 a.m. PST / 6:30 a.m. EST
  • September 12 ~ Venus sextile Pluto-rx. Seeing the depth of things, especially within relationships. Cutting through lies or deception. Uncovering what's hidden.
  • October 3 ~ Venus conjunct Mars. Meaningful ties. Deepening connections. Sultry, smoldering, primal sexual energy. Love and lust intertwined.
  • October 8 to November 18 ~ Venus Retrograde. Venus retrogrades approximately every 18 months. During this period, it's best to put off any major financial or relationship-related decisions and avoid major purchases. This is a time for reflection, review, research and reconnecting. Also on November 18, Jupiter Direct.
  • October 25 ~ Mercury conjunct Venus-rx. Intensity and focus on money matters, as well as relationship-related issues. Ideal time for reassessing or redefining value system and/or self-worth.
  • October 28 ~ Venus-rx conjunct Sun. Closeness. Attachments. Warmth. Openness to giving and receiving love.
  • November 1 ~ Venus-rx sextile Pluto. Energy may be reminiscent to mid-September when Venus and Pluto last linked up. Seeing the depth of things, especially within relationships. Cutting through lies or deception. Uncovering what's hidden. Coming to terms. Finding a solution.
  • November 7 to 29 ~ Venus Returns to Libra
  • November 18 ~ Venus Direct at 1:18 p.m. PST / 4:18 p.m. EST. Also today, Jupiter Direct.
  • November 29, 2010 to January 7, 2011 ~ Venus Re-enters Scorpio

Full Moon in Scorpio ~ April 28, 2010

Image credit and copyright to Harrison
On April 28 at 8:19 a.m. EDT, the Moon becomes full in the intense, probing sign of Scorpio. Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon. While the New Moon in Aries encouraged action, initiation, creativity and even a re-invention of one's self, this Full Moon in Scorpio dares us to look beyond what's visible or tangible and turn our attention to what hides beneath the surface to uncover the truth or answers we seek.

Empowerment through transformation is key to this Full Moon, as the Scorpio-Moon (heart; inner drives) opposes the Sun (soul; potential) and Mercury-rx (thought; communication), while both the Sun and Mercury blend energies in Taurus (determined; practical). Elsewhere in the sky, Venus (relationships; finances) must adjust to her ill-fated brush with Pluto-rx (endings; purging), especially while Saturn-rx (reality; structure) gets frustrated with Neptune (hope; insight) and seeks balance with Uranus (radical change; unconventionality).

Where in our life are we in dire of a change? Does it involve a relationship (with another, others or the self)? Or is it with finances? Perhaps, it's work-related or a combination of a few things. According to this Full Moon, the relief, answer, solution begins within the self -- the heart (Moon), the soul (Sun) and how we think/communicate (Mercury-rx). This may entail changing the way we process information and interact with others or our own internal dialogue. There is, after all, power within intent and with words, spoken or otherwise.

Before any change can occur, however, there must first be a complete understanding of where things stand -- knowing where motivations are rooted in (are we driven for our own gain/satisfaction? or does our success benefit others? how is success defined? what about failure?); understanding how we make decisions or take action (are these decisions/actions arrived upon through fact, fear, truth, love, light?); comprehension of our fear/s and how that affect decision-making/attitudes; or awareness of where/with whom emotional/material/spiritual support in our life comes from (do you feel supported or isolated?). These are a few of what we may need to know before we can work towards purging, releasing or cutting off toxic relationships, thought processes or habits in our lives.

With Uranus, Neptune and Pluto extending their influence to this Full Moon, the transformation may very well require sacrifice and the change necessary might be something completely out of the ordinary, unconventional. So be open to delving deep, embracing truths, cleansing the core self and accepting change during this Full Moon period (April 28 to May 13).

Although we can all benefit from this full moon, those born within 3 days of April 28 or October 31 or those with natal planets/house angles within around 8 degrees of fixed signs may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

For me, as a Virgo-rising, this Full Moon influences my natal 3rd (thought, communication) and completes an existing trine between my Sun (potential) and my North Node (life path) to form a water Grand Trine, while Pluto-rx continues to oppose my Sun. It's really all about me (my Sun) and where I'm going (my North Node). Whatever may still be uncertain can be understood or clarified (3rd house) through seeking intuitively or connecting with my spiritual/higher self (water Grand Trine) and eliminating what's unnecessary (Pluto-rx), in order for transformation to occur and become empowered (Scorpio-Full Moon) to continue moving ahead in achieving my potential (Taurus-Sun).

How will this full moon influence your birth chart? Match the sign and degree to determine what house this full moon falls in. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the sign Scorpio on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation on the Full Moon transit in that house.

New Moon in Scorpio ~ November 16, 2009

Photo Copyright Credit to Laurent Laveder

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Scorpio qualities (passionate, intuitive, intense, forceful, focused) and 8th house themes (shared resources, endings, transformations). Scorpio is natively ruled by Pluto and co-ruled by Mars. In Scorpio, the Moon seeks truth, answers in order to thoroughly understand situations and will keep digging as many layers deep as necessary to arrive at the core. The Scorpio-Moon gives us the power to let go and to regenerate.

This Scorpio-New Moon (heart & soul) tenses up with Chiron (release) and Neptune (enlightenment) while in harmony with Uranus (radical change) and the North Node (life path). Elsewhere in the sky, Saturn (structure) and Pluto (purging) continue their stressful connection. Allow this new moon to enlighten us on what needs to be released and give us the determination to make the changes necessary to establish a new foundation that steers us toward the path of our journey, if we have strayed.

This new moon occurs on November 16 at 2:14 p.m. (EST) at 25 degrees of Scorpio. Those born within 3 days of November 16 or May 14; or have planets/house angles around 25 degrees of fixed signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon falls in my 2nd house (income/material value) and within one degree of my 3rd house cusp (thought/communication); it also forms a sextile with my natal Pluto, Ascendant and trine my Descendant. Some changes are developing with regards to income. I may be required to shift my way of thinking, make solid plans, and perhaps, my new source of income will somehow involve 3rd house representations and a business partnership.

How will this new moon influence your life? Look to the natal house/s this new moon will occupy in your birth chart. Match the sign and degree to the sign on the house cusp/s. Use the list below to identify the Scorpio zodiac sign then click here to read about the New Moon in Houses.

With Venus in Scorpio, the question isn't "do you love me?" but "how much do you love me?" and rightly so, I suppose. Scorpio is a deeply feeling sign that is not too concerned with superficialities. Venus in Scorpio gets into the very core of what lies within our hearts. In Scorpio, Venus' pleasure-seeking ways are intense, passionate, provocative, and committed.

Venus leaves the accommodating, loving, charming, and fair-minded sign of Libra for the deeply complex waters of Scorpio on November 7 at 7:23 p.m. EST, where she stays until December 1.

  • November 19 ~ Venus square Mars. "He said, she said" or maybe more like "he yelled, she screamed right back" ... so what's a bit tension between the planet of love and planet of sex. Go ahead and fight it out...just make sure to also give making up as much energy as the combat.
  • November 23 to 26 ~ Venus square the Triple Conjunction & trine Uranus. A few days to give love, relationships, and even finances an overhaul, as needed.
