LuvScopes Posted! ~ January 1 to 3, 2010

With the majority of planets in earth (Capricorn) and fixed (Aquarius and Leo) signs, the weekend for love may be less about romance and more about commitment, especially with a growing Saturn and Pluto square lurking in the background. Saturn in Libra currently pours his concentration on what type of foundation our relationships are built on, while Pluto in Capricorn focuses on purging what's established but no longer serves its purpose. Their link with each other is challenging and stressful enough without the addition of Mercury and Mars frustrating each other and Venus getting serious with the Sun. With Mercury and Mars still retrograde, the weekend's issues/situations may recur around the end of the month when Saturn and Pluto perfect their link and Mercury passes through the same degree in Capricorn that he's in this weekend.

Forging Ahead As We Reflect Upon Where We've Been

* Days and times reflect EST

Happy New Year, everyone! January 1st begins still reeling from the previous day's Eclipsed Cancer Full Moon. Luckily, we're given a bit of a breather, of about two weeks, when the planet and stars are somewhat quiet.

Major shifts in sky begin with Saturn's change in directions on the 13th, when he retrogrades for five months. This is followed by the month's supercharged eclipsed New Moon in Capricorn occurring on the 15th and the same day as Mercury moving direct again after having slowed down for three weeks. Then, Jupiter changes signs and enters Pisces on the 17th, where he remains until early June. Venus and the Sun follow Jupiter's lead, as both also change signs and enter Aquarius on the 18th and 19th, respectively. As Saturn retrogrades our focus turn inward, especially on issues regarding our partnerships (may they be intimate or business-related), the eclipsed New Moon in Capricorn shines upon our obligations and perhaps renewing our ambitions for the future. With Mercury returning to its normal pace, clarity and decisiveness will follow. Just as well, since Jupiter's move into Pisces may give us a little too much optimism, as he gets acclimated in this new sign. With Venus and the Sun entering the innovative, forward-thinking, and unconventional sign of Aquarius, expect the unexpected and be open to cultivate original ideas as possible action items.

The next celestial happenings occur at the end of the month on the 30th when the Moon becomes Full in Leo; then on the 31st, Saturn and Pluto revisit their antagonistic alignment from two months ago. This Full Moon blends energies with a retrograde-Mars. Joining in the background, Saturn and Pluto fight it out while Chiron and Neptune grow closer to perfecting their embrace that's been in the making since 2008 and was closest last May. Whatever may have been festering for far too long may now find a final release. With Saturn and Pluto involve, this purging may be a difficult process. Their last similar meeting occurred mid-November last year. The end of January may be reminiscent issues/events between May (Chiron and Neptune) and November (Saturn and Pluto) 2009.

ARIES ~ With your ruler, Mars, still retrograde, your patience continues to be tried this month. Does it seem like every step forward you've taken has only brought you two steps back or that unbelievable obstacles block you from getting any of your objectives accomplished? Don't fret. But, do take Mars' lead and slow down, especially with Saturn also retrograding mid-month. Reassess situations. Hold off on any major actions. Both Mercury, who begins moving forward again, and the eclipsed New Moon bring focus upon your career and future goals house, making this an ideal time to solidify plans, restructure foundation, reestablish goals, and the like. Jupiter, Venus, and the Sun move into parts of your chart that suggest help from unexpected sources are available to you and/or that there are energies from behind the scenes working on your behalf. By the end of the month, Saturn and Pluto, along with the Full Moon touching your ruler, bring things to a head. Some long-standing ties may be broken. Old ideals or ideas may get a renewal. Letting go. Release. Moving on. Whatever has been long overdue may get closure/resolution this month.

TAURUS ~ January begins with retrograde-Mars in your house of family and retrograde-Mercury in your house of expansiveness and travel. Miscommunication, especially with family, and delays with regards to travel and/or school arrangements may plague you. Then on the 13th, Saturn retrogrades in your house of work and health, resulting in some (unwelcome) changes in your daily routine, work, and health. What an exercise of patience for you! Hold on. On the 15th when Mercury begins moving forward again and the eclipsed New Moon, the promise of somewhat improved days are ahead. However, the tension between Saturn and Pluto culminates by end of month just as the Full Moon touches retrograde-Mars. How strenuous this energy is depends on how issues and events of the previous weeks have been handled. If they have been ignored, then things inevitably come to a head now. If they have been constructively addressed and worked on, a resolution or final compromise may be negotiated now.

GEMINI ~ It may be a bit challenging being your usual easygoing self these days with your ruler, Mercury, still retrograde and adding fuel to Mars' retrograde motion in your communication house. Misunderstandings, delays, and perhaps even, respiratory issues are more than enough to try your patience. Saturn also changing directions this month, influencing your house of love and creativity, may not have helped matters. But alas, Mercury begins direct movement once more on the 15th, the same day as the New Moon, offering renewals. Then Jupiter, the planet of opportunities, enters your house of professional pursuits and long term goals for an extended stay. Things look up for a bit until end of month when Saturn and Pluto rehash their fight that began this past November. Unresolved or ignored situations from that period may get a second look.

CANCER ~ It must be energizing to have had 2009 end and 2010 begin right after an eclipsed Full Moon in your sign. Hold on to that energy and feeling of optimism. There is something ending … and something brand new, beginning. The first half of this month's focus is on your opposite sign, resulting in your inclinations being motivated by considering the needs of others before your own. Learn to balance satisfying what you need/desire with that of others. The New Moon mid-month brings a renewal in how you relate to others. Venus and the Sun change signs after the New Moon and enter your house of endings and regeneration. At month's end, the Moon becomes full as Saturn and Pluto fight it out. Change is inevitable. Foundations reestablished. Relationships redefined. Boundaries reinstated.

LEO ~ Mars continues in retrograde motion in your sign, leaving you with less oomph than your liking. Now, Saturn also retrogrades, giving focus on relationships while he moves through the part of your chart that governs thought and communication. With Venus and the Sun entering your partnerships/marriage house, careful to watch tempers and communicating in haste. The eclipsed New Moon shines a light on your work and health house, just as Jupiter enters one of your financial houses which also has regenerative benefits. The next few months may bring a change in your work environment and is also an ideal time to establish or reestablish an overall healthy regimen. Tensions rise as the month closes with Saturn and Pluto going at it and the Moon becomes full in your sign while touching retrograde-Mars. Those born within three days of August 1st may feel the strain stronger than others. Consider expending the energy and managing stress through some type of physical activity.

VIRGO ~ Has communication and travel delays been trying your patience? Be thankful Mercury begins moving forward again on the 15th, on the same day as the New Moon in your house of love and creative projects. In fact, for the first half of the month, the Sun, Venus, and Mercury are all stimulating your house of romance. Those in established relationships may rekindle passions; those single and longing to be involved gets an opportune period to snag yourself your Mr. or Ms. Right (Now). Jupiter enters your house of partnerships on the 17th so, it's likely you may meet your future sweetie after this date. On the 18th, Venus enters the part of your chart that governs work/routines and health so, keep your eyes peeled for a chance meeting in the most common yet unexpected places/circumstances – the gym, on your commute to work, at the grocery store, etc. End of month brings tension as Saturn and Pluto put a squeeze on your money house and perhaps causing strain in your relationships. Avoid negative thinking, especially as the Full Moon in Leo touches retrograde-Mars in your subconscious house. Be mindful and don't get lost in depression over money worries or relationship woes. Instead, be more proactive by thinking up ideas on how to counteract energies and/or create practical step-by-step solutions to problems.

LIBRA ~ As if Saturn in your sign wasn't unpleasant enough, now he'll be retrograde. The eclipsed New Moon mid-month highlights your private/home life. Have you been too busy with your professional pursuits the past six months? The next six months offers the opportunity for balancing home with career, private life with public life, etc. Jupiter moving into the part of your chart that governs work and health will be of help as you work through whatever influences Saturn and the eclipsed New Moon may enlighten you with in the upcoming months. Venus and the Sun entering fellow air sign Aquarius are a welcome change! They should provide extra aid for the tension at the end of the month when Saturn and Pluto, along with the Full Moon, may make you feel like you're being squeezed for your last bits of patience, sanity, objectivity … perhaps, you'll need to put your foot down and put yourself first on a sensitive but lingering issue. Expect what's been left unresolved to find closure/answers this month. Will you be brave enough to take part in or take the lead in finding resolutions? Or will you be reacting to choices made for you?

SCORPIO ~ Mars' retrograde in your career house until March may bring some work-related obstacles or delays. With Mercury and the eclipsed New Moon influencing your house of thought and communication, what and how you think become extra important this month. Remember that our thoughts help create our reality so, formulate ideas and communicate in ways that support your ultimate goals. The eclipsed New Moon's influence has a reach of up to six months. On the 17th, Jupiter enters your house of creative projects, romance, pleasure, and children for an extended stay. 2010 is a great year for love, being reminded of the pleasurable things in life, nurturing relationships with children, and getting creative projects started and off the ground. Before the month ends however, Saturn and Pluto revisit their argument from November; their fight occur in your psychological houses and pose a mental challenge, questioning beliefs, established foundations, the strength of relationships. Couple that tension with the Moon growing full in your career and future goals house while blending energies with retrograde-Mars, stress levels may run high. Be mindful of your thoughts and the motivations behind them.

SAGITTARIUS ~ Opportunities for income may have slowed down with Mercury retrograde in your house of income. The Sun and Venus remain in this house for the first half of the month and help counteract some of the delays or obstacles Mercury's retrograde may have been imposing. For those who are self-employed and/or rely upon networking for leads/contacts, Saturn retrogrades on the 13th and may slow down your social calendar. Thankfully, Mercury begins moving direct again on the 15th opening up your income house for the renewing energy offered by Capricorn-New Moon. The 17th brings Jupiter's long-term blessings into the part of your chart that governs home, family relations, and private life. Month's end bring strain as Saturn and Pluto put the squeeze in one of your financial houses. This energy might also revisit an issue regarding a friend and/or money matters which may have been addressed towards the end of 2009.

CAPRICORN ~ Month begins with Pluto, the Sun, Venus, and a retrograde Mercury in your sign and following an eclipsed Full Moon in your opposite sign. There's an urge to find balance between home and career, obligations and ambitions, and satisfying the needs of the self as well as that of your partner. Mid-month, Saturn joins Mercury and Mars in retrograde motion, allowing for more reflection, review, and reconsideration. On the 15th, Mercury begins moving forward just in time for the eclipsed New Moon also in your sign. Make use of what you may have discovered or rediscovered during the past few weeks and plan accordingly. Jupiter's entrance to your house of thought expands your mind so, don't be surprised if you find yourself a little out of character, especially after Venus and the Sun enter Aquarius on the 18th and 19th, respectively. You're brought back to reality by end of month when Saturn and Pluto fight it out. Watch out for conflict with authority figures or perhaps those subordinate to you will revolt. This energy is linked to the period on or around November 15, 2009 and may result in a change within your profession, professional pursuits, and/or future goals.

AQUARIUS ~ Thank the stars Venus and the Sun will be making an appearance in your sign mid-month. With Mars retrograde in your marriage/partnerships house and Saturn, in relationship-oriented sign Libra, also retrograding soon, Venus and the Sun in Aquarius are much needed help! The eclipsed New Moon this month falls in the part of your chart that governs what's hidden. The next six months may reveal bring to the forefront what may have been lying beneath the surface. Jupiter enters your income house, where he remains for most of the year. End of month may be strenuous as the Full Moon opposes the Sun in your sign while combining forces with retrograde-Mars. Reinforcing this energy are Saturn and Pluto tensing up so, watch tempers and be mindful of speaking/acting in haste, especially toward your partner. Words and actions carry heavier weight. Those born within three days of January 31st may feel the tension stronger than most.

PISCES ~ The month may begin a little busy with social events you're obligated to make appearances at. It will slow down though, but until then, take care that you don't overextend yourself and compromise your health/immune system. With Mars still retrograde in your work and health house, you may still be feeling low on energy. Couple that with Saturn retrograde in your house of regeneration may restrict your ability to heal quickly, so listen to your body and rest up! Luckily, Jupiter, the planet of bliss and expansion, enters your sign on the 17th. His blessings are a-plenty and may help lessen the blow of events at the end of the month – the Full Moon touching retrograde-Mars (affecting issues relating to work and/or health) and the argument between Saturn and Pluto (affecting established relationships).

WeeklyScopes ~ December 28, 2009 to January 3, 2010
Auld Lang Syne

Happy New Year!

Tension in the air. Venus in Capricorn gets serious, and perhaps even demanding, as she aligns with Pluto and Saturn. Love, relationships, finances, and personal value systems may undergo an overhaul of sorts as Pluto and Saturn unearth what's hidden, expose what's “broken” and/or demand for reparations.

January 1st is preceded by the second full moon of the month, referred to as a Blue Moon, which happens to also be an eclipse. A rare combination adds depth and intensity, with influence reaching up to six months! In addition to its rarity, this Eclipsed Blue Moon is further strengthened by its placement in its home sign, Cancer. As we bid the old goodbye and welcome the new year, it is what or who are closest to our hearts that are celebrated. Cancer represents family (biological or otherwise), our private self, our home life, and coming to terms with the past/memories in order to be happy in the present and move forward to the future. This eclipse is linked to July's eclipse and events/issues now may be reminiscent to this past summer.

Weekend LuvScopes Posted! Dec. 25 to 27, 2009

Merry Christmas, to friends and readers celebrating the holiday!

Some challenging energies in the air for this holiday weekend, triggering last month's strenuous Saturn-Pluto square, as both the Sun (lingering) and Venus (growing) combine with Pluto and antagonize Saturn. The cracks to the foundation of our relationships get magnified so much so that we can no longer ignore them or remain clueless of them. Harsh, I know. Thank goodness for Jupiter and Neptune lingering in the background, locked in an embrace, to give us hope and insight about our current situations. With Mercury making happy with Uranus also hovering behind the scenes, there is the element of surprise and/or mental awakening. Mercury retrogrades on Saturday so, be mindful of possible misunderstandings, miscommunication, and misinterpretation of intentions.

How's love and romance looking like for you?

Eclipsed Blue Moon in Cancer ~ December 31, 2009

Blue Moon. Credit and copyright to LR70.The second Full Moon of month, sometimes called a Blue Moon, rises on the 31st and says goodbye to 2009! For that extra oomph, its also happens to be an Eclipsed Moon. Cheers everyone, to a fantastic New Year full of blessings, light, love, and laughter!

Eclipses are super-duper charged full and new moons (Understanding Eclipses), extending the usual influence of approximately two weeks to a reach of up to six months! A downside to eclipses is the tension in the air as the energy builds up to the eclipse itself. The days approaching an eclipse bring unexpected events or issues that can be disruptive and have long-term effects. Dealing with these unexpected situations require a sensitive touch and wisdom must be applied, even in the midst of chaos and/or uncertainty.

This Eclipsed Blue Moon (heart and soul seeking harmony) is sandwiched between two already tense periods. It occurs right after the Christmas holiday which, for those who celebrate it, understand the strain involved with family ties and financial woes from too much spending; and right before ringing in the New Year which brings its own personal baggage of how (un)successful the year has been and resolutions for the new year. Celestially speaking, the week itself begins with Venus (love, money, values) heating it up with Pluto (purging, transformation) and upsetting Saturn (obligations, reality), giving focus to the flaws within our relationships (with the self and/or others) and/or our finances. Heavy.

Then on the day of the Full Moon (2:13 p.m. EST) and Eclipse (2:22 p.m.) at approximately 11 degrees, the Cancer-Moon seeks balance with both Venus and Pluto while in conflict with Saturn. Venus shows us what's not working in our relationships or with our finances; the Sun and Moon digest what's been illuminated. The Sun and Moon aligning with Pluto and Saturn add to the celestial pressure already lingering from early in the week, as it also triggers the energy from last month's Saturn-Pluto square. Oi!

Take a few ... slow .... deep .... breaths, and repeat. Then, take it all in stride. With both Mercury and Mars in retrograde, the next few weeks bring more information that previously may not have been available to you and/or the path best taken may still be revealed. All that's required of you is patience and awareness. Take this time to become more attune. But before all that, take a sip of some bubbly with people who make you smile and celebrate the coming New Year.

This eclipse is linked to this summer's Cancer-Solar Eclipse that on July 22, 2009. Think back to that period. Events/issues brought up now and in the coming weeks may be reminiscent of those from this summer. Perhaps, this full moon brings resolution, finality, endings or culmination to something that may have first come to light on or around the month of July.

For me, this Eclipsed Full Moon touches my Cancer-Sun (conscious will), harmonizes with my North Node (life path), and challenges my Chiron (wounds/healing) and Uranus (awakening); as a Virgo-rising, this Full Moon falls in my natal 10th house of professional pursuits and long term goals; and as a Cancer-Sun, it falls in my 1st house of the self and untapped potential. This Eclipsed Moon stimulates my birth chart's natal T-Square, where my Sun is the focal point (self-discovery) and squared by my North Node and Uranus. It also is reminiscent, or perhaps an extension, of the influence transiting Uranus had when he blended energies with my North Node and activated the same natal T-Square in 2004. In addition to the Full Moon's influence on my chart, transiting Venus and Saturn are also stirring things with the same celestial bodies in my chart. Retrograde-Mars and retrograde-Mercury can't be left out they each link to my Aries-Moon and my Saturn. *rolls eyes* "Are ya kidding me with this?" is really all I can muster for now. The next six months should be interesting at the very least with much work (personally and professionally) to be done (Saturn), as well as endings ... and transformative beginnings (Pluto).

Venus in Capricorn ~ Dec. 25, 2009 to Jan. 18, 2010

Capricorn. Credit and copyright to Mad Snail. The time for fun and light-heartedness is over, as Venus leaves adventure-loving Sagittarius for the tried and true sign of Capricorn. Venus represents our relationships (with others, the self and material possessions), our finances, and our sense of personal worth. In Sagittarius, Venus is adventurous, flirtatious, lively, optimistic, spiritual and believes love/relationships are about the journey of learning and enjoyment. In Capricorn, Venus is more concerned about the destination and less about the journey. She needs guarantees for longevity. Building solid foundations in love take priority. Fleeting love affairs are little to none. Venus in Capricorn understands that any relationship worth keeping and cultivating requires work and commitment.

While Venus is in Capricorn, we are reminded that there is an element to relationships that is beyond the romanticized ideals of love. Love hurts. Love can be a burden. There is duty and obligation to those we love. Despite the heaviness and ties that bind us, love and relationships drive us to better our selves and give meaning to our lives by having others share this life with. Venus in Capricorn represents the side to love and relationships that shows the resilience of our connections. Despite the challenges and obstacles, true love prevails.

Venus enters Capricorn on December 25 at 1:17 p.m. (EST) and will stay through January 18, 2010. While in Capricorn, Venus will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • December 28 ~ Venus conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. Following the Capricorn-Sun's lead from a week ago, Venus now make the same alignments to Pluto and Saturn picking up where the Sun left off. The Sun put a spotlight on how each of us are flawed, and by extension, how our relationships are flawed.
  • January 5 ~ Mercury-rx conjunct Venus. Love and/or money on the mind. Is it worry? or is it well a choreographed plan to surprise your special someone? or perhaps logical ideas on how to increase material value?
  • January 8 ~ Venus quincunx Mars-rx. Love aggravates. Relationships frustrate. Romance is overrated. Make use of this energy by making up before the night ends. After all, making up is the best part of disagreements and arguments.
  • January 11 ~ Venus conjunct the Sun. In Capricorn, love and relationships take on a serious tone. Issues with commitments and the work that comes with being in relationships may come up now. Money matters might also be highlighted now.
  • January 13 ~ Venus sextile Uranus. Even in Capricorn, there's room for surprising Venus. Expect the unexpected in love and money. New dalliances or (business) alliances?
How will this Venus transit influence your birth chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Capricorn. Match the signs with the house cusps on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the Capricorn zodiac sign on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

WeeklyScopes ~ December 21 to 27, 2009
Home for the Holidays

The start of the week also features Venus, the planet of love, friendly with Chiron (representing our wounds) and Jupiter (our ideals), while Jupiter himself allies with Neptune (enlightenment). The Sun leaves happy-go-lucky Sagittarius for the more serious Capricorn; and by the 24th, he merges with Pluto (the eliminator) while also picking a fight with Saturn (the taskmaster). Venus follows the Sun in Capricorn on the 25th, and Mercury mimics Mars by becoming retrograde on the 26th.

As Mars forces us to physically slow down, Venus, while still in Sagittarius, along with Jupiter and Neptune give us a chance to reflect and heal what may be broken in our relationships. The Capricorn-Sun's alignments with Pluto and Saturn picks at the cracks to our foundation, just as Venus also becomes more conservative in Capricorn and Mercury adds challenges to communication.

Mercury Retrograde ~ Dec. 26, 2009 to Jan. 15, 2010

Oh, say it ain't so... again, already? Doesn't seem too long ago when Mercury was retrograde last in September.

This time around, Mercury retrogrades in Capricorn from December 26 until next year on January 15. He retraces his steps from 22 degrees and all the way back to 5 degrees of Capricorn. The complete shadow cycle for this retrograde period is December 9, 2009 to February 4, 2010.

Mercury represents our thought process, communication, transportation, commerce, and electronics/technology. Capricorn represents structure and foundation. In Capricorn, Mercury is willful and persistent, goal-oriented and a hard worker. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn affects governments and long-standing institutions; but on a personal level, our foundation may also be called to question. How we've done things, what we've believed in, and what have been our motivations may need to be reviewed and re-established or redefined. Our personal goals may change or shift to a different direction.

During this time, Mars is also retrograde while in the sign of Leo from December 20 until next year March 10. Our actions may be scattered or have no "legs" to stand on. It's best not to initiate action, especially to longer term goals, during a Mars retrograde ... and even more so now, with the added factor of a Mercury retrograde. This post from DailyOm.com ties in nicely with the message of insight through reflection for this retrograde period -- Knowing Better Now - The Past in Light of the Present.

As I posted earlier, during Mercury's first retrograde period this year:
Following the standard with any retrograde planet, this Mercury retrograde period is a time for the prefix "re" -- reflect, rethink, re-plan, review, retool, reorganize, redefine, re-examine, rewrite, reread, repair. So reassess, as necessary and as much as you want, but avoid starting new projects, signing any contracts, or entering into any major agreements or commitments. It's easy to overlook details or neglect to include information pertinent to the terms. A change of mind is also common. If you must enter into an agreement during the retrograde period, it is important to re-read all fine print, have another set of eyes go over it, and get all your questions answered before completing the transaction.

This period does not need to be daunting and feared or cause you to suspend living your life in any way. Simply make allowances and/or preemptive actions to minimize the unavoidable retrograde effects. Do not underestimate the frustration, inconvenience, and havoc a Mercury retrograde can produce, however.

Mercury rules mental processes, communication, commerce, trade and affects all of these plus travel and electronics. Allow for delays, especially on the station days
[which, for this current period, are December 26 & January 15]. Expect miscommunication so, ensure that all details are understood. Ask detailed questions to prevent misunderstandings. Wait until the retrograde period is over before buying a new computer, mp3 player, cell phone, or any other electronic items. If this is unavoidable, make sure the return/exchange/refund policy coverage is extensive enough that the purchased item can be returned/exchanged should it requires repair or replacement later. Consider buying the extra warranty offered, if the item is a costly one.

For me, as a Virgo-Rising, this retrograde occurs in my 4th house of home and family; and as a Cancer-Sun occurs in my 7th house of partnerships. This might be an ideal time for me to reflect upon my plans of moving back home to San Francisco next year and/or review my options for business collaborations. No actions or final decisions, just mulling things over :)

Jupiter Conjunct Neptune ~ December 21, 2009

Inspiration of my dreams. Illustration credit and copyright to skpzeenho.Earlier this month, on December 7, Jupiter and Chiron perfected their conjunction. Now, Jupiter and Neptune blend energies on December 21. Like Jupiter and Chiron, this is also the third time Jupiter and Neptune combine powers this year. Their previous meeting occurred in May and July. This third time brings a last look at something that began earlier in the year.

Jupiter represents our ideals and opportunities. Neptune symbolizes our spirituality and enlightenment. In Aquarius, they are brilliant, intellectuals, civic-minded, forward-thinking, and unconventional. This year, the Triple Conjunction helped awaken us as individuals, as groups, as a society. How have you been awakened and having been awakened, what have you been doing? If clarity eludes, try meditating on the Queen of Cups for Intuition, Insight & Answers tarot affirmations, written by friend and colleague, Starcana.

This blending of energies between Jupiter and Neptune occurs at 24 degrees of Aquarius. Although we all benefit from the promises this conjunction offers, those with natal planets/house angles at 24 degrees of fixed signs (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio) or air signs (Aquarius, Libra, Gemini) may be affected more strongly than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles at 24 degrees? Cast your own birth chart if you don't already have one -- birth date, time, and place required. Schedule a session or request a quote for a personalized reading. Or hop on over to the AstroCreeps and TarotFreaks Forum* to start or join a discussion.

There is one more upcoming conjunction for this Triple Conjunction: Chiron Conjunct Neptune ~ February 16, 2010 (article forthcoming)

Sun in Capricorn ~ Dec. 21, 2009 to Jan. 19, 2010

Capricorn. Credit and copyright to Hareth. The Sun leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn on December 21 at 12:47 p.m. (EST) and will stay through January 19, 2010.

The Sun represents our vitality, our conscious will, and our untapped potential. In Capricorn, the Sun is tenacious, willful, ambitious, goal-oriented, and not afraid to do the hard work required to achieve goals.

While the Sun is in Capricorn, we are reminded that each of us have a purpose in life. There are goals we work toward. The Sun in Capricorn picks up where the Sun in Sagittarius left off. In Sagittarius, our ideals take center stage. The Sun is a visionary in Sagittarius. In Capricorn, the Sun takes what's been envisioned and finds a way to make it happen -- to make the commitment, devise the plan, do the work, gain success, and receive the recognition. What are your short-term or long-term goals?

With Mars retrograde beginning on December 20th and Mercury soon to follow on the 26th, it's an ideal time to reflect upon what motivates us, determine or redefine what we truly want to work towards, and make plans on how we can make them happen with the resources we have and the time we can dedicate to it. It's best to hold off on actually taking action until Mars is out of retrograde in March 2010.

While the Sun is in Capricorn, he will make alignments with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • December 24 and 25 ~ Sun conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. Serious tone to the holiday. The Capricorn-Sun is determined to put a spotlight on the cracks to our foundation. Expect for secrets to be revealed or what's been hidden to be uncovered. Harsh truths may have to be accepted, as the Sun shines a flashlight on our flaws.
  • December 31 ~ Eclipsed Blue Moon in Cancer at 2:13 a.m. (EST) at 11 degrees
  • January 4 ~ Sun conjunct Mercury-rx. Avoid making any life-altering decisions. Misunderstanding is common now. Choose words wisely. Easy for intentions to be misinterpreted.
  • January 7 ~ Sun quincunx Mars-rx. Refrain from making any major decisions or actions that have long-term effects. Watch tempers, especially with authority figures. Adjust attitude or point of view and use this energy to review upcoming action items.
  • January 11 ~ Sun conjunct Venus. In Capricorn, love and relationships take on a serious tone. Issues with commitments and the work that comes with being in relationships may come up now. Money matters might also be highlighted now. Redefining personal value systems.
  • January 13 ~ Sun sextile Uranus. Unpredictability. Breaking away from the norm. Need for individuality/freedom. Brilliant outlook. Unconventional solutions to existing problems. Opportunities from unlikely places or sources.
  • January 15 ~ New Moon in Capricorn at 2:11 a.m. (EST) at 25 degrees

WeeklyScopes ~ December 14 to 20, 2009
Expect the Unexpected While Establishing New Beginnings

The week's excitement starts with the Sagittarius-Sun (conscious will/potential) agitating Uranus (awakening/change) and making nice with the Triple Conjunction (rare and promising). We're able to hope for the best.

Wednesday brings a chance for renewals and the beginning of a new cycle as the Sun and Moon blend energies in expansive Sagittarius for this month's New Moon, which is also close enough to benefit from the blessings offered by the Triple Conjunction. This New Moon urges us to “see” beyond our comprehension or what's tangible. Consider that the answers we seek or opportunities hoped for may not come in the package we expected, but will surprisingly satisfy our needs.

Mars Retrograde ~ Dec. 20, 2009 to Mar. 10, 2010

Z for Mars - Photo credit and copyright to Tunc TezelWhile in the zodiac sign of Leo, Mars slows down, comes to a halt, and prepares for retrograde motion on December 20 until next year on March 10. With the shadow period, the complete retrograde cycle is October 18, 2009 to May 17, 2010. It's December now...What lessons have you learned since mid-October? With both Mars and Mercury retrograde as the New Year begins, learning from the actions of the past keeps from making similar mistakes or being disappointed by similar events/issues in the future (Mercury is retrograde beginning December 26 to January 15, 2010).

Mars is the planet of action. He represents our drives, motivation, aggression, and assertiveness. When Mars is retrograde, our energy level may be lower as our focus turn inward. Projects are stalled from initiating or newly begun projects may suffer delays from completion. Aggressions may initially be suppressed only for them to finally be impulsively expressed and with much greater intensity than if they were never held back to begin with. Those with natal Mars in a water sign may internalize anger or frustration more so than usual, which is not healthy as raw emotions unexpressed leads to stress levels increasing.

As with any other planet that becomes retrograde, this Mars retrograde period from December 20, 2009 to March 10, 2010 is best spent reviewing certain aspects of our lives, reflecting upon how we normally handle anger or frustrations -- do we blow up and move on? do we hold it in and let it fester?; re-examining what the motivations are behind our actions or decisions -- do we act because we're in control? or do we act because we need to react? do we typically initiate and are self-motivated? or do we take steps when we've had reassurance or feel supported?; and perhaps re-evaluating how we do things, how we make things happen -- do we plan then act? do we rush to act?

During this retrograde, Mars will retrace his steps from 20 degrees, all the way back to zero degree in Leo. Although we are all influenced by this retrograde, those with natal planets or house angles between these degrees in Leo or the other fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio) may feel the effects more strongly.

Mars retrograde occurs approximately every other year for about two and a half months. Mars was last retrograde on November 2007 to January 2008.

As I wrote on the original Mars in Leo post, Virgo-Rising, although Leo rules my natal 12th house of the subconscious, much of Mars in Leo and this retrograde occurs in my natal 11th house of friendships. Mars will enter my natal 12th house late May 2010. As a Cancer-Sun, this retrograde slows down action in my solar 2nd house of income. Totally uncool since Saturn's move into Libra (rules my natal 2nd house) also brings challenges in the same area for me as a Virgo-Rising. So, that's a double ouch for me the start of 2010. I better re-budget the budget.

How will this Mars transit influence your chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Leo. Match the sign and degrees. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the Leo zodiac sign on your birth chart then click here for an explanation of Mars transiting those houses.

Weekend LuvScopes Posted! Dec. 11 to 13, 2009

A Scorpio-Moon intensifies the otherwise "quiet" cosmos. Lingering Sun-Mars trine and Jupiter-Chiron conjunction fill the air. We're aware of our vulnerabilities but we don't let it deter us from doing what must be done or what we desire. There's confidence in our actions and decisiveness in the choices we make.

How will love and romance fare this weekend?

New Moon in Sagittarius ~ December 16, 2009

Bookmark and Share

Illustration credit and copyright to Steel EyesNew Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Sagittarian qualities (idealistic, optimistic, good-humored, opportunistic, intelligent) and 9th house themes (personal growth, spirituality, travel, higher education).

Sagittarius is natively ruled by Jupiter, who is currently a participant in a rare and promising Triple Conjunction. In Sagittarius, the Moon is expansive as she seeks to satisfy her thirst for knowledge and truth. The Moon is visionary and optimistic in Sagittarius.

The Sagittarius-New Moon (heart & soul)sextiles the Triple Conjunction (awareness, healing, moving forward, opportunities) and squares Uranus (radical change). We are urged to expand our horizons by seeing beyond the tangible or what's proven and having faith in the process of personal growth as we search for our own truths.

Elsewhere in the sky, Saturn and Pluto remain tightly linked in a challenging square, enabling us to get to the source of issues, have the power to purge what must be eliminated, and the resolve to re-establish a new foundation or adopt a new belief system.

This new moon occurs on December 16 at 7:02 a.m. (EST) at 25 degrees of Sagittarius. Those born within 3 days of December 16 or June 15; or have natal planets/house angles on or around 25 degrees of mutable signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon squares my Pluto, Ascendant, and Descendant; opposes my Mercury and Midheaven; conjuncts IC; and falls in my natal 3rd house of thinking, communicating, and as well as relationship with siblings. This New Moon phase should be interesting since I will be home with family for the holidays and this Sag-New Moon touches all my house angles (who I am ~ Ascendant; who I am with another/my shared self ~ Descendant; where I've been ~ IC; and where I'm going ~ Midheaven).

How will this new moon influence your life? Look to the natal house/s this new moon will occupy in your birth chart. Match the sign and degree to the sign on the house cusp/s. Use the list below to identify the Sagittarius zodiac sign then click here to read about the New Moon in Houses.

Jupiter Conjunct Chiron ~ December 7, 2009

Bookmark and Share

A Healing Wish. Image credit & copyright to Amber CrystalFor the third and last time, Jupiter and Chiron blend energies in Aquarius. Something begun earlier this year, perhaps in May or July, gets a last look now. Maybe to give it a final answer, a definitive solution, or a simple reflection on what was and what is now.

Jupiter represents our ideals, our hopes, opportunities. Chiron represents wounds that need healing, pain that need release, and old ways that need letting go. In the zodiac sign Aquarius, both Jupiter and Chiron are forward thinking, fighting for change in order to improve, and rebels against established structure that no longer serves its original purpose. They are innovative and think outside the box.

What life-altering changes, decisions made, or series of events happening this year that caused you to release past hurts, heal deeply-rooted wounds, leave old ways, question old beliefs, establish a new foundation, or drop friends who would not/could not accept this new version of you? Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune, forming the Triple Conjunction, probably had a hand in it.

This blending of energies between Jupiter and Chiron occurs at 22 degrees of Aquarius. Although we are all beneficiaries of the healing and inspired energy this conjunction offers, those with natal planets/house angles at 22 degrees of fixed signs (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio) or air signs (Aquarius, Libra, Gemini) may be influenced more strongly than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles at 22 degrees? Cast your own birth chart if you don't already have one -- birth date, time, and place required. Mercury in Capricorn ~ Dec. 5, 2009 to Feb. 10, 2010

Bookmark and Share

On December 5 at 12:24 p.m. (EST), Mercury leaves expansive Sagittarius for an extended stay in determined Capricorn. This transit gives us the opportunity to build upon ideas formed and dreams created while Mercury was in Sagittarius.

Mercury governs all manners of thinking, communicating, transportation, and commerce. In Capricorn, Mercury is ambitious; our minds are decisive, and we're persistent in our conversations. This is a period ideal for thinking up how to make things happen. Did you have grand ideas while Mercury was in Sagittarius? Let Mercury in Capricorn help you make that happen. Outline goals. Research. Plan steps. Develop the how, when, and with whom.

On December 26, Mercury slows down and prepares for retrograde motion, where he will remain until January 15, 2010. This is a period for reflection and review, perfect for re-planning and/or devising detailed steps to achieve objectives.

While Mercury is in Capricorn, he will make connections with the following celestial bodies on (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • December 7 ~ Mercury conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. Ideal for focus and deep concentration. Need to ferret out a secret or uncover something hidden? Now is a good time.
  • December 21 ~ Mercury quincunx Mars. tsk. tsk. Watch that impatience doesn't make you act sooner than you are actually ready or prepared. Actions now can provide long-term solution to existing problems or objectives but only if actions executed are well-planned.
  • December 26 to January 15 ~ Mercury Retrograde.
  • January 5 ~ Mercury conjunct Venus. Love and/or money on the mind. Is it worry? or is it well a choreographed plan to surprise your special someone? or perhaps logical ideas on how to increase material value?
  • January 15 ~ Mercury Direct.
  • January 25 ~ Mercury quincunx Mars-rx. This energy is reminiscent to December 21st when Mercury and Mars met up in the sky making the same alignment. Stubbornness and impatience will get you nowhere. Move decisively. Actions with purpose. Determined steps.
  • February 6 ~ Mercury sextile Uranus. Brilliant ideas! Write them down. Lest they fleet and be lost forever.
Where will this Mercury transit fall on your birth chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Capricorn. Match the signs with the house cusps on your birth chart. I hope that you find them insightful, informative, and practical. Let me know your thoughts.

Eclipsed Blue Moon Bids 2009 Goodbye

Celestially speaking, December's a busy month, starting with Venus changing signs and Uranus moving direct again on the 1st. Whatever internal work may have been happening during the past five months now have a chance to manifest in our external lives so, whether or not you're ready, it's happening.

The following day, we have the month's first Full Moon in Gemini. Then on the 5th, Mercury enters Capricorn and gets down to the business at hand. Within days on the 7th, Jupiter, the blissful planet, combines energies with Chiron, the wounded healer, for the third time this year. This meeting brings release to what may have had a hold on us.

Mid-month, the Sagittarius-New Moon occurs on the 16th. High spirits around the 19th as Venus link up with Uranus and the Triple Conjunction. This is followed by Leo-Mars changing directions to retrograde on the 20th. Then the next day, the Sun enters Capricorn and Jupiter unites with Neptune, the enlightened one. Our conscious will is determined; our focus turn inward as we ask ourselves, “what is it that truly drives our actions?” while Jupiter and Neptune give a dose of hopefulness for the things to come.

Full Moon in Gemini ~ December 2, 2009

Bookmark and Share

Full Moon. Image source unknown.Celestial excitement continues as December enters its second day. The Moon waxes and becomes full in Gemini (11 degrees) at 2:30 a.m. (EST) on December 2. Just the day before, Venus entered Sagittarius and Uranus changed directions.

The Gemini-Moon, opposite the Sagittarius-Sun, now urges us to expand our mind and think big, truly communicate by listening as well as talking, and rid our interactions of metaphorical "ceilings" with discussions without preconceived notions or imposed limitations by having expectations, especially with our siblings.

On the day the Full Moon in Gemini occurs, Saturn and Pluto remain tightly connected in a square, while Mercury (the planet governing the sign Gemini) links himself harmoniously with the auspicious Triple Conjunction. As the reality of our situations (Saturn) are forced upon us (square), we unavoidably delve into our own (Pluto) in hopes to find a way out, a solution, an answer, or to muster up the courage to ask for help. With the expansiveness of our mind and thinking outside the box (Full Moon in Gemini and Mercury's alignment to Triple Conjunction), we might just receive the answer we are seeking. But the answer may not come in the package expected. What happens then?

With Saturn and Pluto in the background, what we must do or have to choose may not be what we want to do or choose. Do we then become our own obstacle because we've limited ourselves to solutions that are acceptable to what we desire or what we can logically understand? I challenge each of us, including myself, to bravely act upon what must be done regardless of how difficult it might be. With the Mercury and the Triple Conjunction extending their assistance, we're able to devise a plan on how to make what must be done, happen. Perhaps, the Tarot Affirmation* on the Four of Pentacles - Attachments and Restrictions might help open the mind and welcome new ways of thinking/communicating.

For me, this Full Moon is harmoniously aligned with my Venus (relationships), Chiron (healing), and Moon (heart); and as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 9th house while as a Cancer-Sun, in my solar 12th house. It's fitting since I'll be traveling (9th house) to get some much needed chill time (12th house) with my family and life-long friends for three weeks in December! This holiday season marks the first occasion we'll have it without my father, who passed in January. However, we do have a new addition to the family and will celebrate the season with my newly born Libra-niece. Sadness mixed in with joy. Grief blended with healing. As a family and as individuals, we must grieve our own way and heal our own way. Together, however, we have each other's strength and support in sadness and in joy.

This Gemini-Full Moon is the first of two full moons this month. On December 31st, the Blue Moon is a Lunar Eclipse in her home sign, Cancer, and is linked to the Cancer-Capricorn eclipses in July. What an exciting way to ring in the new year! Stay tuned for a post on this eclipsed moon.

How will this Gemini-Full Moon influence your birth chart? Match the sign and degree to determine what house this full moon falls in. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the sign Gemini on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation on the Full Moon transit in that house.
