Chiron Direct ~ November 5, 2010

After five months in retrograde motion, Chiron stations to prepare for direct movement on November 5. He'll be revisiting his steps from 26 to 29 degrees of Aquarius for a third and final time until early February 2011. Chiron remains in a very close conjunction with Neptune through his transit in Aquarius, never more than a little over a degree away from each other. This collaboration between Chiron and Neptune promotes healing, release or coming to terms with past hurts, deeply rooted wounds -- may they be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. As mentioned in a previous post, "their alliance is strongest around November to December 2010, where they receive a boost from the Lunar Eclipse at 29 degrees in Gemini on December 21st that trines this Chiron-Neptune conjunction."

Also taken from a previous post:

Chiron represents both what is broken and how to heal it. Unlike a headache where the discomfort can be dispelled by a pill, probing through the darkest recesses of our selves and piercing through our thickest walls to uncover what is at the root is a painstaking process, but well worth the effort.

While in Aquarius (the awakener), we are awakened to what we may have been doing for the sake of doing...living life in auto-pilot and making decisions that reflect what's safe or doesn't take much effort or rock the boat. But when looking at the bigger picture, longer term effects are actually more destructive to us. Becoming aware should stir the consciousness to make changes. As we heal the self, we are then able to turn around and help another heal their wounds without sacrificing our own personal growth and needs.

Upon his return to Pisces (the seeker) on February 8, 2011, Chiron's focus shifts to delving deep into our broken spirit (losing the will to live or live a life with purpose), or where we may have lost our faith (in humanity, in our own abilities, etc.), or our belief in that which is greater than the self (God, the Tao, the Divine, etc.). We are given a chance to reconnect our bond with the 'essence' of who we are/of our existence, or if we are already attuned, find where the link may be weak and strengthen those areas.

Chiron stations on November 5 at 11:42 a.m. PST / 2:42 p.m. EST and by November 21, he'll be moving at his regular pace. His complete retrograde cycle began at zero degree of Pisces, retracing his steps to 26 degrees of Aquarius (beginning July 22), and upon direct movement revisits 26 degrees of Aquarius back to zero degree of Pisces (February 8 to 23, 2011).

On the day Chiron changes direction, a New Moon in Scorpio occurs at 9:52 p.m. PST (November 5) / 12:52 a.m. EST (November 6). New Moons signifies renewals. This New Moon phase might also mark a beginnings of sorts for you, as you release the past or realize that your wounds have healed and there's no longer anything holding you back or tying you down.

With Chiron direct, the healing process takes on a new level. Look to the natal house/s that Chiron is transiting to find out how this transit might play out in your life. In addition, those with natal planets or house angles between 25 degrees of Aquarius and zero degree of Pisces may feel the influence of Chiron's transit more strongly than others. And those who are going through their Chiron Return (those with natal Chiron between 26-29 degrees of Aquarius or zero degree of Pisces), I can't stress this enough -- please be extra kind to yourself. Uncovering and tackling decades of buried wounds can be painful, draining, frustrating, but it is a process that frees the soul and opens you up for what can be possible when burden is lifted.

To get an idea of how Chiron's transit may influence you, look to the solar and/or natal house governed by Aquarius and which house/s 26-29 degrees of Aquarius falls in your birth chart. For those without a birth chart handy, cast your birth chart at http://alabe.com/freechart. Alternatively, I am available for personal consultations. Mars in Sagittarius ~ Oct. 28/29 to Dec. 7, 2010

Mars via Wallpapers

The sky's the limit! When the planet of action is in the sign of expansion, we're only limited by our mind, our own imagination. Mars is the planet of action, energy, and movement. He represents our physical drives, aggression, passions, anger, self-assertion, confidence, and the motivation behind our efforts.

He's been cruising through the passionate sign of Scorpio, where he is intense and devoted to long term results but can be obsessive and fearful. In Sagittarius, Mars is independent, intelligent, philosophical, good-humored and loves his freedom. Sagittarius is the sign of the sage. In his highest form, his wisdom is molded from his rich life experiences and a strong spiritual sense, in addition to academic intelligence. They are what feeds a Sagittarian's beliefs, philosophies and way of life.

At best, Mars in Sagittarius is open-minded, optimistic, driven and lucky. At worst, careless, tactless, unrealistic and irresponsible. Mars enters Sagittarius on October 28 at 11:48 p.m. PST (October 29 at 2:48 p.m. EST) and will stay through to December 7.

During Mars' transit in Sagittarius, we're reminded to have a bit of faith, be a little braver, take a bit of chance ... after all, life is in the doing, right? What's important to remember is that whatever actions we take must also have our complete and utter commitment to see through to the end. This way, we aren't just acting on impulse or making decisions without forethought. This is also a great way to put ourselves and our goals in an ideal position for when Mars leaves Sagittarius in December to transit Capricorn, where our work can reap rewards or be more solidified.

Those with children or are around children can also make best use of Mars' transit in Sagittarius by taking on the role of a teacher, a big brother or big sister. Spend some quality time interacting with them. If weather permits, sports outdoors is a great way to use up Mars' Sagittarian energy.

While in Sagittarius, Mars will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; allow +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • November 14 & 15 ~ Mars sextile Saturn. Establishing foundation with determined steps. Decisions based on logic and reason, carried out with intent. Solid actions, creating solid structures.
  • November 20 ~ Mercury conjunct Mars. Consider it done. What fills the mind may also be what we act upon. Careful not to overshoot or overestimate results. Ensure decisions and actions are well thought out.
  • November 29 ~ Mars square Jupiter-rx. Overoptimism. Overshooting the mark. Luck. Excessiveness. Overdoing things.
  • December 2 & 3 ~ Mars sextile Neptune-rx & Chiron-rx; square Uranus-rx. Chance for healing, whether it's the self or helping others. Release. Let go. Have faith. Surprises. Expect the unexpected. Being a teacher.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

*Day/time references are North America PST.

The weekend kicks off with an Aries-Full Moon early Friday evening. It is the second one this year; last occurrence was September 23. By 7:30 p.m. PST, the Moon (heart) will have slipped into Taurus, where she remains for the duration of the weekend and her sensitivities gain some stability. Saturday, the Sun (self) leaves balance-seeking Libra and joins Mercury (thought), Venus (relationships) and Mars (motivation) in the more discriminating sign of Scorpio, where feelings and intuition can sometimes take over logic. The Taurus-Moon should help ground emotions and give reason a chance.

Full Moon in Aries ~ October 22, 2010

Equinox & the Harvest Moon by Tamás Ábrahám via APOD

Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon in Libra which illuminated our relationships of all types -- intimate, platonic, business, familial, and even those with our enemies. This second Full Moon in Aries picks up to complete/complement the Libra-New Moon by highlighting the balance between the self (who I am) and the shared self (who I am in a relationship); the potential of our individual selves and our partnerships; and the consideration of another's needs as they pertain to our own basic needs. Last month's Full Moon on September 23 was also in Aries.

As written on last month's Aries-Full Moon post, which remain true for this week's full moon:

Coupled with Saturn also transiting the partnerships sign of Libra, where he's whipping us all into shape with lessons in love, relationships, commitments, partnerships, equality and objectivity, this full moon touches upon our relationships and perhaps, finally making the long overdue necessary changes. Time to grow up -- whether it's taking things to the next level of commitment; learning to accommodate, compromise, communicate; standing up for one's self; or however this full moon may play out in your life.
This second Aries-Full Moon falls in the anaretic (degree of fate) at 29 degrees of Libra, which also falls within 3 degrees within a critical degree (stress point) of for cardinal signs. Most astrologers also consider the 29th degree a critical degree. Anyway, this begins a series of Full Moons at 29 degrees; the next is on November 21 in Taurus, followed by December 21 in Gemini, which also happens to begin the Gemini-Sagittarius eclipses lasting about 3 years.

When any celestial body is at 29 degrees, it is restless in the sign it's in and cannot seem to get satisfaction because its energies are drawn by and more stimulated by next zodiac sign it's about to enter. In this full moon's case, that next sign is Taurus. Our conscious will sees the potential of the self and its relationships. There's the need to take an active part on repairing strained relations, renewing stale ones, strengthening an already solid one or maturing the self to meet the needs of a relationship. The ultimate goal being something more stable and grounded, on the inside and out.

Elsewhere in the sky on this full moon are Mars (action) in a challenging link to Neptune (insight) and Chiron (healing), while also engaged in a growing harmonious link to Uranus (unpredictability). All the while, Pluto (upheaval) and the North Node (life path) get even closer to each other. During this full moon phase, as we become awakened/enlightened (Uranus/Neptune) to what we want going forward for our life's journey (North Node), we may find that following this requires sacrifice, commitment and hard work, at the very least (Chiron); and we face an inner battle of wills (Pluto) -- to follow (Mars) our inner drives and give in to it what it requires or not. With Uranus at play, expect the unexpected -- may it be help or being of help or designing plans to base actions on, breaking away from what you've been holding on to tightly, or gaining freedom from what binds, etc.

Those with natal planets/house angles on or around 29 degrees of cardinal signs or within the first 2 degrees of fixed signs may experience the impact of this full moon stronger than others.

For me as a Virgo-rising, this Full Moon falls in my natal 8th house (purging/debt) and, as a Cancer-Sun, in my solar 10th house (goals/career); it opposes my natal Jupiter and quincunx my Neptune, which in my natal 3rd house (thought/communication). Something comes to a close with my relationship to money and future/career plans. I may need to give up, perhaps momentarily, on whatever plans I may have originally had. I'll be required to be more open to changing or tweaking my plans. It is my resistance to the deviation to what I may have wanted, in addition to how I react to disappointments that things didn't work out as expected, that will decide on how much more difficult or how smooth this transition will be fore me.

Sun in Scorpio ~ Oct. 23 to Nov. 22, 2010

After joining forces with Saturn (obligations/hard work) and Mercury (thought/communication) in Libra to help shine upon our relationships with others, he moves on to transit Scorpio beginning October 23, where he'll remain until November 22. The Sun rejoins Mercury, who will have just gotten settled in Scorpio a few days prior, a retrograde Venus and Mars in Scorpio.

The Sun represents our ego, conscious will, and potential which includes our hidden potential that is inherent but undiscovered. In Libra, the Sun’s focus is on our relationships, interactions, and balancing the needs/desires of the self with that of another’s/others. In Scorpio, the Sun also helps in illuminating upon our relationships, through a more in depth understanding of them. This is especially true this year, with Venus (relationships/finances) retrograde (introspective) through November 18 and in Scorpio through November 7, returning to Libra for the duration of the Sun's transit in Scorpio.

As a water sign, Scorpio's energy is more intuitive than logical and more instinctive than reasonable. Scorpios place great importance and are usually focused on uncovering what lies beneath the surface to identify find truth, down to its core. They are the investigators/researchers of the zodiac. Driven by their unending curiosity coupled with their strong intuition, they must have complete understanding of people, situations, or things; anything less is unacceptable. The Sun is serious, intense, seeking meaning/understanding and must answer all the "whys" in Scorpio. Intensity might just be what to expect for the remainder of October with so much activity in Scorpio.

While the Sun is in Scorpio, make a conscious effort to listen to our gut feelings more often, nurture our intuitive abilities, and give in to the Sun's urgings for us to dig deeper. Seek the source instead of just identifying the symptoms. It is through this deeper, fuller understanding that allows us to push through, become empowered, and then transformed. Where in our lives can we use a transformation?

With Jupiter (ideals) and Uranus (awakening) still within a few degrees of each other in the sign of Pisces (insight), our efforts in delving deeper and seeking within are well supported.

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 at 5:35 a.m. PST (8:35 a.m. EST) and will stay through November 22. While in Scorpio, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 26 ~ Sun sextile Pluto. Intensity. Need for control. Tap into hidden, natural talents/abilities. Personal empowerment gained through awareness and wholehearted acceptance of truths, even if they are painful or harsh or not what's expected.
  • October 28 ~ Sun conjunct Venus-rx. In love and money, commitment and expectations are for the long haul.
  • November 5/6 ~ New Moon in Scorpio on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. PST / on November 6 at 12:52 a.m. EST. Also today, Neptune Direct on November 6 at 11:04 p.m. PST / November 7 at 1:04 a.m. EST.
  • November 15 ~ Sun trine Jupiter-rx. Dream big, yes. Just keep one foot rooted on the ground. With Mars and Saturn sextile, you'll be able to see and understand the obstacles ahead to the big dream. Let this "ceiling" give us the foresight of what limitations or hurdles we may have to work around or jump over in order to continue toward the goal.
  • November 18 ~ Sun square Chiron-rx & Neptune-rx; and trine Uranus-rx. Ouch. Deep cuts. Awareness is key that leads to acceptance so healing can begin. Help another if your aid is requested, but no judgements. Avoid getting lost in your head/dreams/visions. Life is about living ... and sometimes, living out loud! Solitude may be necessary now, just make sure you're actually spending quality time alone and not hiding or escaping. Otherwise, you might miss out on opportunities from unlikely places/sources. Expect the unexpected. It's ok to have an abrupt change of mind or feel the need to break away and venture on your own. Also today, Jupiter and Venus station direct.
  • November 21 ~ Full Moon in Taurus at 9:27 a.m. PST / 12:27 p.m. EST

Mercury in Scorpio ~ Oct. 20 to Nov. 8, 2010

After a brief three weeks in Libra, Mercury sprints over to Scorpio on October 20 at 2:19 p.m. PST / 5:15 p.m. EST, where he remains until November 8. Mercury represents how we think, how we process information, and how we communicate the information we've processed. He also governs transportation, commerce and trade.

In Libra, Mercury is social, friendly, collaborative, and requires understanding both sides on any situation before making any judgements or decisions. In Scorpio, conversations deepen, interactions seek meaning, and curiosities must be satisfied. All the "whys" must be answered, no matter how never-ending they may seem. Scorpio energy must seek truth, identifying where or what any situation is rooted from.

At best, Mercury in Scorpio is eerily attuned to the innerworkings of the psyche and unseen world. It's a mind that is determined, committed, and unrelenting. Penetrating. Deep understanding. Conversations are meaningful. At worst, Scorpio-Mercury is stubborn, paranoid, quick to judge, fearful, distrustful, and unwilling to try if there are little or no assurance for success.

While in Scorpio, Mercury will align with the following celestial bodies on (all dates reflect North America Pacific time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • October 22 ~ Mercury sextile Pluto. Focus. Concentration. Analytical, probing mind. Curiosities high. Also today, Full Moon in Aries at 6:37 p.m. PST / 9:37 p.m. EST
  • October 25 ~ Mercury conjunct Venus-rx. Relationships deepen. Strings attached. Interactions intensify. In financial matters, shrewd money management.
  • November 4 ~ Mercury trine Jupiter-rx. Big dreams? Have faith? Feeling hopeful? That's fine. Just avoid committing to anything you can't actually deliver. Overoptimism easy now. Don't be a show off. Allow actions to speak louder than words.
  • November 5 & 6 ~ Mercury square Chiron-rxNeptune-rx; and trine Uranus-rx. Mercury's square with Chiron helps identify possible obstacles in achieving goals. Let this "ceiling" give us the foresight of what limitations or hurdles we may have to work around or jump over in order to continue toward our objectives. So go ahead and dream big. One foot is firmly stepping on solid ground. Also today, New Moon in Scorpio on November 5 at 9:52 p.m. PST / November 6 at 12:52 a.m. EST and Neptune Direct on November 6 at 11:04 p.m. PST / November 7 at 1:04 a.m. EST.

Venus (love/relationship) and Mars (action/motivation) remain in passionate Scorpio, where the Moon (heart) joins them. Venus Retrograde ~ Oct. 8 to Nov. 18, 2010

Venus Unveiled copyright to Magellan Project, NASA

My very first post on this blog was last year's Venus retrograde. Has it been 18 months already?! Time flies ...

Venus retrogrades about every 18 months. Her last retrograde cycle was March 9 to April 17, 2009 in the sign of Aries. This time around Venus retrogrades from October 8 to November 18. She stations at 13 degrees of Scorpio, revisiting all the way back to 17 degrees of Libra. Venus returns to Libra on November 7 and re-enters Scorpio on November 29 to stay until January 7, 2011.

Venus represents our relationships (all types -- intimate, platonic, family and that with the self), our material wealth, our value system/s, our self-worth, our capacity to see beauty in the world, and our desires.

As with any retrograde planet, this period is a time for the prefix "re" -- reflection, reconnecting, reviewing relationships, redefining worth, and re-examining value system. So reassess, as necessary and as much as you want, but avoid making any major financial, relationship or other life-changing decisions during this period. You might just have a change of heart later.

When Venus is retrograde, it's a time to reflect upon issues related to our relationships, finances and self-worth. In Scorpio, Venus' focus may be in "value" -- what this object, person, belief is worth? how much influence does it have on the self? is this influence a positive one that nurtures personal growth or provides true happiness? what attachments (material or otherwise) do we cling to and why? In Libra, Venus's focus may in our relationships -- how do they enhance or limit our lives? how does the dynamic of this relationship promote self-growth?

This retrograde cycle happens while Saturn (maturity/reality) is also in Libra, which happens to be one of the signs that Venus governs. Saturn in Libra teaches us about our relationships by showing us the reality of our situations, the flaws within these partnerships and the cracks on the foundation that these relationships are built on. Through gaining a full understanding of what truly is, we're able to assess our situation with sobering honesty that, ideally, should help us make wiser decisions going forward.

Venus' retrograde cycle might pose more challenges to those with natal personal planets or house angles within the degrees of Scorpio and Libra that she'll be revisiting, especially on or around the station days (October 8 & November 18). Those with natal Saturn between 8 and 13 degrees of Libra may also find this to be an extra difficult period because you are also going through your Saturn Return. Those with their Libra-Sun and Ascendant at 8 to 13 degrees of Libra would also be subjected to Saturn conjunct (blending energies) with their Sun/Ascendant, while their Sun/Ascendant ruler, Venus, is retrograde and extra introspective.

For me, as a Virgo-rising, this Venus' retrograde cycle falls in my natal 1st (self/potential) and natal 2nd (income/values) houses with Libra governing my natal 2nd house. Ouch! It's never fun when any transiting planets retrograde in your income house, but even more unpleasant when it's the money planet retrograde in your money house. My natal Jupiter is station direct right on the cusp of my natal 2nd house and trine my natal Midheaven so, I am guilty of splurging here and there and, at times, being overly optimistic with future plans. Saturn's current transit through my natal 1st house has been and continues to be a great, big dose of reality :) especially with Pluto still opposing my Sun for quite some time. This Venus retrograde continues my pruning and purging (Pluto oppose my Sun) and cutting off excess (Saturn in Libra) materially, emotionally and spiritually.

How might Venus' retrograde period influence you? Look to the astrological house/s where 17 degrees of Libra to 13 degrees of Scorpio fall into. This should give you an idea of where in your life this retrograde might manifest and/or where you can make the most of its energy. If you don't have your birth chart handy, cast your own -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am available for personal consultations. Schedule your session for a 3-chart package, Solar Return (birthdays), Saturn Return (major life event) or Synastry (relationships) reading. New Moon in Libra ~ October 7, 2010

Libra via Photobucket

Who couldn't benefit from a renewal in relationships? New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Libra qualities (balance, objectivity, social graces, artfulness) and 7th house themes (partnerships, relationships, known enemies).

Libra is natively governed by Venus, who is currently in the intense sign of Scorpio and preparing for a retrograde cycle that begins a little after midnight (PST) the following day. Libra-New Moon (blending of heart & soul) shines upon our relationships of all types -- intimate, platonic, business, familial, and even those with our enemies.

Together with Saturn (realities/foundation) and Mercury (thought/communication), who are also both in Libra, we're able to fully understand the foundation our significant relationships are built on -- solid and strong? or practically on life support? based on respect or tied up to lies? contribute to each party's personal growth or suffocating and too stressful?

In addition to being able to see our situations are they truly are, we're also afforded a chance to figure out a way to make amends, fix the cracks on the foundation, re-establish a new foundation, or simply take the first step by acknowledging and facing the truth before us. Mercury in Libra should help with communication and understanding, while Saturn gives the backbone and commitment to the hard work ahead. Allow this new moon to give a new breath of life into our significant relationships.

With Venus (love/finances) retrograde during this New Moon phase, we are further encouraged to reflect upon the ties that bind. We also remain under the umbrella of the Jupiter and Uranus conjunction in Pisces, where the more we delve deep and reach within, the greater insight and clarity we gain.

This new moon occurs at 15 degrees of Libra. Those born within 3 days of October 7 or April 4; or have planets/house angles around 15 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon opposes my natal Moon (heart/inner drives) and squares my natal Mars (motivation/assertion); falls in my natal 1st house (as a Virgo-rising) and in my solar 4th house (as a Cancer-Sun). The primary focus of this Libra-New Moon may be related to the self/its potential (natal 1st house) plus its drives/goals (natal Moon/Mars), how they mesh or don't mesh with family relations and/or my own subconscious fears/habitual nature learned from childhood (natal 4th house), and what can be done to achieve harmony/balance between them.

How might this new moon influence you? Look to the natal house/s this new moon will occupy in your birth chart. Match the sign and degree to the sign on the house cusp/s. Use the list below to identify the Libra zodiac sign then click here to read about the New Moon in Houses.
