Uranus Retrograde ~ July 5 to December 5, 2010

UranusUranus stations on July 5 to join Chiron, Neptune and Pluto in retrograde motion. By August 13, Uranus returns to Pisces and will retrace his steps all the way back to 26 degrees of Pisces.

While Uranus is retrograde, allow your rebellious inner child to run free, think without boundaries, and conceptualize original ideas that bring you closer to achieving your objectives. In Aries, Uranus is a trailblazer and is assertive in communicating one's ideas and pushing for one's objectives. At best, engaging, a leader, entrepreneurial, creative, independent and impassioned. At worst, callous, abrasive, selfish, opinionated and non-committal.

For late July through much of August, upon Saturn's return to Libra on July 21, Saturn opposes Uranus and Jupiter (both in Aries) while all three are square Pluto in Capricorn. This further stimulates the cardinal energies that have been gaining strength since May, making July and August ideal months to get out of a rut, make radical and lasting changes to alter one's life and move towards living an improved quality of life. Click here to read more about 2010's cardinal climax.

Then from August 13th to March 11, 2011, when he returns to Pisces, Uranus' genius is expressed through Piscean traits. At best, Pisces is gentle, intuitive, sensitive, compassionate, insightful and visionary. At worst, Pisces is confused and lost in its own imaginative world. With Pisces, there is a fine line between illusion and delusion, insight and deceit, love and sacrifice.

During this period from July 5 to December 5, expect the unexpected in yourself, in others and in the events unfolding around you, as well as around the world. Aries governs our conscious will, our need for individuality and to assert our independence. Pisces governs all aspects of the subconscious. Secrets revealed. What's been hidden will be uncovered.

While retrograde, Jupiter and Uranus will revisit their June 8 conjunction, which occurred at Aries Point in Aries, on September 18 and then, the following year, on January 4, 2011 (also the same day as the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn). However, their September and January meetings occur in Pisces instead of Aries.

For me, this retrograde falls in my solar 9th house of travel and personal growth. I will be moving across the country in late July or mid-August back to my home town where my family still lives. I'm excited to see how the rest of the year will unfold, what kind of personal growth awaits me and what hidden things will come to light :)

How might Uranus' retrograde motion influence you? Look to the house/s governed by Pisces and Aries or if you have your natal chart, look at where Pisces at 26 degrees to zero degree of Aries falls in your chart. This is the area Uranus will cover during his retrograde period.

Those who have natal planets or house angles at zero degree of Aries back to 26 degrees of Pisces may get more of workout during Uranus' retrograde cycle. Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles between 26 degrees of Pisces and zero degree of Aries? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal astrology consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You might also consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Mercury in Cancer ~ June 25 to July 9, 2010

Cancer Constellation
Mercury follows the Sun in cardinal sign Cancer on June 25 and takes his part in stirring the pot that stimulates the strain concentrated on cardinal energies.

Mercury governs all manners of thinking, communication, schooling, commerce, short travel and siblings. In Gemini, our minds are quick to think and move on, our thoughts logical, our words articulate, and truth may unfold through reasoning. In Cancer, our minds need to believe or feel what we think, our thoughts rooted at the heart, our words driven by emotions, and truth may be revealed through intuition. Cancer is the first water sign of zodiac, feminine (receptive), cardinal (creative/leader) and governed by the Moon. Cancer represents our inner sanctum, emotions, intuition and matters relating with women.

For those two weeks Mercury transits Cancer, we are reminded that our words have meaning, beyond their definition. Mere words can uplift or discourage, bring joy or sadness, comfort or frustration, courage or fear, confidence or doubt, facilitate peace or incite war, express love or hate. What we communicate and express are seeded by thoughts and ideas that form in our minds. Our mind's method of processing information help formulate the most basic of our thoughts. Mercury in Cancer encourages us to seed our thoughts with consideration that our spoken and written words illicit emotional responses as well as academic or intellectual ones -- our thoughts and words rooted from our intent.

During the first week of his stay in Cancer, he'll be taking part in keeping tense energies strained as he squares (in conflict with) Uranus, followed by another square Jupiter the next day, then an opposition (seeks balance) with Pluto-rx after and finally, a conjunction (merges) with the Sun. It's easy to get riled up and act on emotionally-based impulses. It's important during this period to be aware of thought processes and communication to ensure decisions/interactions are rooted in light and love instead of fear or the need for control. Early-born cardinal signs or those with natal planets/house angles within 5 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the intensity of these few days more strongly than others. Mercury is also heavily involved during the June 26th Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn.

While in Cancer, Mercury will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • June 25 to 28 ~ Mercury square Uranus and Jupiter; oppose Pluto-rx; and conjunct Sun. covered above
  • July 1 ~ Mercury sextile Mars. Allow Mars in Virgo to stabilize and give Cancer-Mercury practical focus. Emotionally-based actions can yield intended results when following detailed and well thought out steps.
  • July 8 to 9 ~ Mercury quincunx Neptune-rx and sextile Saturn. A blend of reality and dreams. Knowing what the challenges are, where limitations lie and the reality a given situation. Allow Neptune to give the dash of hope needed to 'see' past the hard work and commitment required. Avoid Neptune's temptation to 'escape' from the work that needs to get done.
How might Mercury's transit in Cancer have an influence on you? Look to the Cancer-ruled house/s in your birth chart. Match the sign with the house cusp/s on your birth chart. What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn ~ June 26, 2010

Image credit & copyright to Gain Lee

Whew... Time for another eclipse again? It's an extra trying one this time. The Capricorn-Lunar eclipse further stimulates the tension surrounding cardinal energies as it conjuncts Pluto and activates a Grand Cross involving the Sun (conscious will), Mercury (thought), Jupiter (opportunities), Uranus (radical change), the Moon (internal drives) and Saturn (restrictions) - with the exception of Saturn, who is making his way back to Libra, all are within 5 degrees of cardinal signs. We will no doubt experience the impact of this eclipse for months/years to come, in our personal lives as well as globally.

So, what does it all mean though -- Eclipse, conjunct Pluto, Grand Cross? We'll start with eclipses. Eclipses are supercharged full and new moons with influence extending up to six months. Full Moons signify endings, the culmination of what may been initiated during the previous New Moon in Gemini which encouraged us to expand our minds, improve our internal dialog & external conversations and shift our perspective to 'see' the bigger point of view. Per my original post on understanding eclipses:

Eclipses, in astrology, are accelerators. They speed up events, issues, situations in our personal lives and demand for them to be dealt with.

Eclipses trigger necessary changes to one's journey in life. Because these changes are triggered outside of one's own volition, they are often harsh, sudden and undeniable. The initial shock evoke sadness, confusion, frustration, anger, worry and, possibly, depression. However, it is our reaction past the initial shock that defines how we will allow these eclipses to influence us.

A Grand Cross is a combination of four squares and two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies.

As if the energies of an Eclipse and Cross were not enough, this Capricorn-full moon conjoins with Pluto. Pluto represents rebirth, regeneration and transformation. He is our compulsions, obsessions, ability for control and empowerment. Pluto gives us the power to tackle obstacles in life through deeply understanding our situations, which results in our letting go and being transformed in the process. Pluto's process usually brings endings, purging, destruction, complete annihilation of what no longer works before a renewal can occur. With the eclipsed moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, issues regarding security, material or otherwise, may arise -- what makes us feel secure and how we react when our security is threatened. We may assess what we do, hold on to, practice or believe in that no longer reflects our current life, our present self, our present drives. We may find ourselves establishing or reevaluating our goals/aspirations and define what the necessary steps are toward achieving them, including what we must sacrifice or let go of. These are just a few examples of how this eclipse may influence us. However the energies of this eclipse may manifest in your world, it can never be stressed enough that 'resistance is futile' :) We must learn to work with the energy with conscious intentionality, no matter the difficulty.

On the opposite end where the Cancer-Sun is, Mercury is conjunct the Sun while the Eclipsed Moon and Pluto both oppose Mercury, along with the Sun. Mercury governs how we think, process information, talk, communicate and interact with others. At first glance or immediate reaction, our minds are overwhelmed by both the eclipsed Moon and Pluto. We may overreact, internally or mentally panic, and unable to think clearly or in logical terms. Cancerian influence on the Sun and Mercury may cause raw, emotional reactions.

Elsewhere in the sky, Jupiter (optimism) and Uranus (the unexpected) remain in a close conjunction while Saturn (reality) and Neptune (dreams) are uncomfortably frustrating each other. So although Neptune is attuned to what our dreams may be, Saturn is working extra hard laying out the harsh truth of whatever our situation/s entail. This combination can be give a sobering effect; and if we can get past the depressing state of our affairs, we can focus our attention on what we can do to improve our situation. With Jupiter and Uranus still collaborating, we may remain eager and optimistic or we may catch a break or, at the very least, find solace/support in the least likely places or sources.

This Lunar Eclipse happens on June 26 at 7:30 a.m. EST at 4 degrees and 50 minutes in Capricorn. Those with natal planets/house angles within 5 degrees of cardinal signs will more strongly feel the impact of this eclipse, presently and in the future, more so than others. Capricorn-Suns born on or around December 26 will have this eclipsed Moon and Pluto conjunct their natal Sun and would definitely feel the impact of this eclipse in the days approaching the eclipse, as well as the longer term. Those celebrating a birthday within 3 days of June 26, prepare for an amazing, challenging and life-altering birthday year. I offer Solar Return readings, if you're interested.

Gifted Tarotist and Astrologer, Suzi Dronzek of starcana.com, posted a Tarot Affirmation on the Eight of Cups for Detachment and Cutting Ties at the AstroCreeps and TarotFreaks Blog. This may be a helpful exercise should you realize that there is a need for you to purge.

For me, as a Cancer-Sun, this eclipse actually falls a few hours before my Solar Return. Ouch! Even if I wanted to hide under a rock until next year, the universe would find a way get me out of said rock and force me to deal. So, I choose to not hide but instead willingly take up the challenge set before me. I am, after all, ready for the miracle of my life, right? Or I better be. Life, as I know it today, changes dramatically and my degree of resistance is directly related to the degree of difficulty I will face. As a Virgo-rising with my Pluto also rising, I'm somewhat of a planner and, to some degree, have to be a few steps ahead at any given time. That will be put to the test, and I have to be able to be more okay with a greater degree of uncertainty. I'm not so okay thinking about it now, but I better be soon :) I know what I can't control. I know where my limitations lie. But I also know I have control over, and I'm clever and resourceful enough to work with or around whatever restrictions there are.

Cancer-Sun Square Jupiter/Uranus & Oppose Pluto

Dark Filament of the Sun

During his first few days (June 21 to 27) transiting the usually mellow sign of Cancer, the Sun (our potential/the self) gets in a pickle with Jupiter (expands/prospers), Uranus (excites/incites) and Pluto (intensifies/transforms), as these four celestial bodies form a Cardinal T-square.

In a previous post, I described a Cardinal T-Square as follows:

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.These last days of June may be filled with tension, especially with a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn that features a Grand Cross on June 26 (which also happens to be my Solar Return, btw. nice *sarcasm*).

It is important, however, that this 'tension' is used/channeled in a way that best serves our personal lives or achieving our goals. It's easy to get angry or frustrated and lash out at someone or something or some cause. What we focus our attention on is where the energy will flow and manifest in our life. Giving our attention to what qualifies as our 'default' setting or the convenient target does not make the best use of this Cardinal T-Square/Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross energy. It is very important not to be on auto-pilot or exert our attention/energy toward anything other than what we want to manifest.

Actions taken must be the result of determined, measured and conscious decisions that work toward an objective. It would be a shame to let such an opportunistic (Jupiter), radical (Uranus), transformative (Pluto) energy that benefits the individual (Sun) go to waste. Be reminded that although events/decisions/actions are occurring now, their impact can be for the long term. Think of this energy as the opportunity for us to sow seeds that we'll be able to harvest later. Let's harvest something that's fruitful to us as individuals and as human beings.

Although we are all recipients of what this energy has to offer, early-born Cancers (June 21 to 27), Libra (September 23 to 29), Capricorn (December 22 to 28) and Aries (March 20 to 26) or those with natal planets/house angles between zero to five degrees of cardinal signs may experience this energy stronger than others. Look to astrological house/s of your natal and/or solar charts that are governed by Cancer, Capricorn and Aries to get an idea of where in your life this energy may manifest in.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets at zero to five degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Request a quote. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule a session for a Solar Return or 3-Chart Package Reading. Or you might consider giving the gift of insight.

Sun in Cancer ~ June 21 to July 22, 2010

Orange Sun Simmering

woo hoo! The Sun leaves Gemini and enters my Sun sign, Cancer. Joy! The Sun represents our ego, our potential, our conscious will. In Gemini, the Sun is outgoing, chatty, animated and cerebral. In Cancer, the Sun is more reserved, sensitive, somewhat shy and intuitive. The Sun's life-giving warm rays are more focused on the inner workings of the self -- who we are, what we desire, who/what motivates us -- rooted at our hearts and the emotional side of the self.

Most Cancer-Suns initially react from the heart and are not necessarily moved by reason or practicality, especially if their gut feelings urge them otherwise. The cardinal sign of Cancer represents our roots, our family, the past, the home and our emotions. Cancer is sensitive, intuitive and maternal. She is governed by the Moon, who moves approximately one degree every 2.5 hours and changes signs (personalities) every 2.5 days. The Moon's movements may possibly be at the source of why Cancer-Suns are sometimes described as 'moody'.

While the Sun is in Cancer, we're reminded of our roots and to connect/re-connect with family, biological or otherwise. This is also a period ideal for getting in touch with and exploring our intuitive abilities, especially since the first week of the Sun's transit in Cancer, he'll be stimulating the cardinal energies that have recently been activated by Jupiter and Uranus entering Aries and being in a conjunction. This is all contributing to the upcoming Eclipsed Capricorn-Full Moon Grand Cross on June 26, followed by the Eclipsed Cancer-New Moon on July 11, then a challenging square between Jupiter and Pluto on July 25, just a few days before the Cardinal T-square between Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto on July 30 and finally, a Cardinal Grand Cross around August 6. Make sure to keep informed. I'll be posting on the rest of these upcoming celestial events as we get closer to them.

For now, however, the Sun enters Cancer on June 21 at 7:28 a.m. EST and will stay through July 22. On this day, he'll square Uranus (radical change) and Jupiter (opportunities) while trine Chiron-rx (fixing what's broken). Despite whatever obstacles or however improbable our situation may be, there is room for excitement and optimism. I cannot stress enough how important it is to think and speak that which we want to manifest, instead of what we fear or worry over. Wherever our attention is focused on is also where the energy will flow. I am a firm believer that we are co-creators of our own reality. Let's create consciously.

While in Cancer, the Sun will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect EST [NYC] time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • June 21 to 23 ~ Sun square Uranus (21st) & Jupiter (23rd) and trine Chiron-rx (22nd). covered above
  • June 25 ~ Sun oppose Pluto-rx. Oh, I'm quite familiar with this one. Transiting Pluto has been opposed my natal Sun for months and will continue for some time. Uncovering what's hidden. Confronting one's own shadow. Transformative process of facing up to harsh truths/difficult realities followed by a major breakthrough. The key is not to resist change.
  • June 26 ~ Eclipsed Full Moon in Capricorn at 7:30 a.m. EST
  • June 28 ~ Sun conjunct Mercury. The mind agrees with the conscious will. Smooth communication. Easier to find words to thoughts and ideas. Understanding.
  • July 11 ~ Sun sextile Mars and Eclipsed New Moon in Cancer at 3:40 p.m. EST

What's real? What's illusion? The planet of love, Venus, link up with Saturn (reality/restrictions) and Neptune (imagination/enlightenment) this weekend to show us where things really stand and determine what's true and what's a dream. All the while, Mercury (thought/communication) is challenged by both Mars (action/motivation) and Pluto (research/purging). What will we do/how will we handle with what we become aware of? Whatever we decide to do or not do...to say or not say, we are all given the opportunity for a renewal, a clean slate as the Moon is reborn with the New Moon in Gemini on Saturday.

Venus in Leo ~ June 14 to July 10, 2010

Venus leaves the gentle, nurturing sign of Cancer for fun-loving, dramatic Leo on June 14 at 4:50 a.m. EST, where she remains until July 10. Venus represents love, how we relate to others, how we want others to relate to us, our self-worth, what we value in life, what we like/dislike, our material possessions and finances.

In Cancer, Venus is caring, gentle, maternal, protective and nurturing. In Leo, Venus is affectionate, fearless, magnetic and loves to be adored. At best, Venus in Leo is confident, creative, spontaneous, outgoing, warm-hearted and generous. At worst, Leo-Venus is self-absorbed, stubborn, hasty and blunt.

On the day Venus enters Leo, she links up with Jupiter (ideals/opportunities), Uranus (surprises/improvements) and Chiron (healing wounds). We are conscious of what we desire as well as what may be broken in love, in life, in finances. There is an element of unpredictability with Uranus in the mix. We may be offered opportunities through unconventional means or unexpected sources. In order to be aware of doors or windows opening for us, we must let go of old thoughts, old hurts, old ways of doing things. There is knowledge we have yet to learn; there are experiences we have yet to live; there are forces at work beyond that which we have a directly influenced.

While in Leo, Venus will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • June 14 to 15 ~ Venus trine Uranus & Jupiter; and quincunx Chiron-rx. covered above
  • June 17 ~ Venus quincunx Pluto-rx. Total absorption. Power play. Need for control. Be mindful where decisions or reactions are rooted from. Is it love or fear?
  • July 8 ~ Venus oppose Neptune-rx. ~ Romanticizing love? This might be a day of rose-colored glasses. It's easy to overlook offenses. Be careful that you're not being pushover. On the other hand, it's a great day for pampering and giving in to fun -- whatever each of our version of 'fun' may be.
How will this Venus transit influence your birth chart? Look to the natal house/s ruled by Leo. Match the sign with the house cusp/s on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the Leo zodiac sign on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation.

New Moon in Gemini ~ June 12, 2010

This month's New Moon in Gemini occurs on June 12 at 7:15 a.m. EST. New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Gemini qualities (cerebral, social, connections) and 3rd house themes (information, thought, ideas, communication). Gemini is governed by the planet Mercury, who just recently began his transit in Gemini.

In Gemini, the Moon is energetic, excitable, gregarious, an extrovert who opts for logic over emotions. The Gemini-New Moon beautifully linked to imaginative, insightful Neptune-rx to help expand our mind (Gemini), heart (Moon) and soul (Sun). Elsewhere in the sky, Jupiter and Uranus remain very close to each other at Aries Point in the sign of Aries, while Venus and Saturn get along famously -- opportunities and support from unusual sources; chance to make dreams a reality; becoming aware of restrictions and using that knowledge for practical planning; solidifying plans; strengthening or renewing relationships.

This new moon occurs at 22 degrees of Gemini. Those born within 3 days of June 13 or December 12; or have natal planets/house angles on or around 22 degrees of mutable signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than others.

For me, as a Cancer-Sun, this New Moon falls in my solar 12th house (subconscious, what's hidden); as a Virgo-rising, it falls in my natal 9th house (expansion, personal growth) and blends energies with both my natal Mercury (mind) & natal Midheaven (career/goals), while challenging my natal Pluto (power) & natal Ascendant (potential). Holy moly! For me, this new moon phase is clearly about rising closer to my potential with regards to professional pursuits and aspirations by exposing what lies within the subconscious to make me more mindful of them. By pushing past my metaphorical 'boundaries', I am able to expand my mind and 'see' the bigger picture so, I can plan accordingly as I work toward achieving my goals. I'm excited!

How might this new moon influence your life? Look to the natal house/s this new moon will occupy in your birth chart. Match the sign and degree to determine the sign on the house cusp/s. Use the list below to identify the Gemini zodiac sign then click here to read about the New Moon in Houses.

Mercury in Gemini ~ June 9/10 to 25, 2010

Mercury in 3D
After an extended stay in steady Taurus, Mercury darts home to Gemini on June 10 at 1:41 a.m. EST (June 9 at 11:41 p.m. PST) and will stay through the 25th. Mercury governs all manners of mental activity, communication, writing/publishing and short travels. He rules the zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo. In Taurus, Mercury is thoughtful, careful, practical, thorough and persistent. In Gemini, he is social, good-humored, witty, quick-thinking and curious. At best, intelligent, charming, a great conversationalist, friendly, relaxed, secure and expansive. At worst, unfocused, not serious enough, quick to become disinterested and can be non-committal.

Mercury in Gemini encourages us to entertain our curiosities; run with small ideas and see where they take us or what they evolve into; collaborate and brainstorm with others because more minds working together is better than one; meet and greet with new people so we can learn from them; get captivated in engaging conversations; and generally, become a sponge for information gathering. As human beings, we are wired to make connections with others. Even an introvert can find comfort and joy in meaningful contact.

On the day Mercury enters Gemini, he quickly aligns with Uranus (unpredictable), Jupiter (lucky), Mars (aggressive) then Pluto (intense). There's optimism and excitement which could trigger impulsiveness to get things accomplished. Perhaps actions taken can even be due to impatience or frustration instead of following a plan of action. Be mindful of where motivations lie and what the consequences may be for our thoughts/actions. Mercury's alignments with these celestial bodies remain influential for a few days. This can be a short period of time where we can successfully complete immediate goals. The key is remaining aware of our thoughts, why we are doing what we are doing and whether what we're thinking/doing brings us closer to fulfilling our objectives. Mercury in Gemini is easily susceptible to being distracted by bright lights or shiny objects. I know, I have my natal Mercury in Gemini :) Focus!

While in Gemini, Mercury will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect EST (NYC) time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):

  • June 10 to 12 ~ Mercury sextile Uranus and Jupiter; square Mars; and quincunx Pluto-rx. covered above
  • July 24 ~ Mercury square Saturn and trine Neptune-rx. Possible confusion and inability to separate what's real and what's imagined. Creative/writer's block. Difficulty communicating ideas or thoughts. Misunderstandings in conversations.
How might Mercury's transit in Gemini have an influence on you? Look to the Gemini-ruled house/s in your birth chart. Match the sign with the house cusp/s on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the Gemini zodiac sign on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation of Mercury transiting those houses.

Broken Heart
Energies shifting in the heavens continue with Chiron stationing to begin his 5-month retrograde cycle on Friday. While retrograde, his focus is turned inward on how to help us release or come to terms with what needs healing in our personal world. Then, in the wee hours of Sunday morning (or very late Saturday evening for U.S. Pacific coasters), jovial Jupiter (luck) joins Uranus (surprises) in Aries. Especially great news for Aries and fellow fire signs, Leo and Sagittarius.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus at Aries Point ~ June 8, 2010

Finally! Since last month while still in Pisces, Jupiter and Uranus have been side by side with only a few degrees away from each other. On June 8 at 7:27 a.m. EST, Jupiter and Uranus perfect their conjunction at Aries Point in the enterprising sign of Aries. It's a rare celestial event that will not be duplicated again in the near future. The influence of their conjunction (cohesion/alliance) have a long term impact on each of us personally as well as collectively, as a nation and globally.

On a personal level, intensity and depth of influence depend upon how their conjunction touches our individual birth charts. Early born cardinal signs, early-degree cardinal ascendants or those with natal planets in early degrees of cardinal signs, especially Aries on all counts, may experience this conjunction greater and be influenced longer than most. We all, however, can make use and benefit from what Jupiter and Uranus have to offer with their blending of energies in Aries.

This Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries officially kicks off the major celestial events coming up between June and August, where their conjunction is joined by oppositions and squares forming Grand Crosses and T-squares aspect patterns (and some forming in cardinal energies) between other players like Saturn (structure/reality); Pluto (transformation/power); Lunar and Solar Eclipses in Capricorn and Cancer, respectively (endings & beginnings); and Mars (action/motivation). These successive big bursts of celestial energy shifting, moving, expanding, contracting may occur this year, but their impact continue for months/years to come.

As I've written on previous posts:

Jupiter represents good luck, joy, expansion, opportunities, higher education, and personal growth through our interests, experience and spirituality. He also governs publishing, travel, foreigners and exposure to other cultures. At best, Jupiter brings a wealth of knowledge, understanding, growth, opportunities, as well as financial gains. At worst, overindulgent, excessive, wasteful and unable to get past "dreaming" of the possibilities.

Uranus is the awakener, the mover and shaker of the zodiac. His goal is change/improvement for the masses at any cost, even at the cost of chaos or a revolution. Uranus represents humanitarianism, unconventionality, unpredictability, indifference, freedom, technological advancements, and loyalty to its cause. Uranus' energy is radical, disruptive, rebellious and innovative.

Aries is the trailblazer of the zodiac. Aries energy is bold, individualistic, independent, enterprising and can be impulsive, pushy, abrasive, and bossy. It's an impatient energy that needs to constantly be in a dynamic state -- gotta be moving, gotta be doing, gotta be making things happen. Aries represents the self, the ego, our volition, our potential.

What kind of benefits their coming together and collaboration offer us, individually, depends on where Jupiter and Uranus falls on our birth charts. Look to the Aries-ruled house cusp on your birth chart to get an idea of which area of your life their conjunction might be expressed/experienced. Check both natal and solar for a more comprehensive analysis.

For me, as a Cancer-Sun, Aries governs my solar 10th house of professional pursuits and aspirations; and as a Virgo-rising, the conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus falls in my natal 7th house of partnerships. The next few months are especially ideal to get things moving with issues regarding career since that is my focus right now. In the longer term, their conjunction's influence may give a renewal to my 7th house, may it be through a business partnership or intimate relationship or both :)

The last time Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Aries at Aries Point was January 24/25, 1928. I wasn't born then :) but I did learn history in school. The months/years that immediately followed were difficult days, to the say the VERY least. But they were also years of great technological advancements and scientific discoveries especially in aviation, medicine and physics. This Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, along with the cardinal climax occurring between June and August, will no doubt have a global impact for years to come as well as affect each of us in a personal way.

Those celebrating a birthday on or around June 8 are in for an exciting year! Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero degree of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am available for a personal astrology consultation. Is today your birthday? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Mars in Virgo ~ June 6/7 to July 29, 2010

Dark Sand Cascades on Mars

After a super long stay in Leo, Mars joins Saturn (now direct) in Virgo on June 7 at 2:11 a.m. EST (June 6 for some) and will stay through July 29, 2010. Mars is the planet of action, energy and movement. He represents our physical drives, aggression, passions, anger, self-assertion, confidence and the motivation behind our efforts. In Leo, Mars is strong-willed and driven by his own volition, carrying out his actions eagerly in a confident and ambitious manner. In Virgo, Mars is more tempered. His actions more measured. His decisions well-planned and analyzed to the detail.

Virgo is the sign constantly seeking perfection. To that end, each decision or action must reflect doing it efficiently and done right, the first time. Mars in Virgo may move a little slower than Mars in Leo, but each movement is careful, exacting and success is imminent because failure is not an option. At best, Mars in Virgo is pragmatic, focused, meticulous, productive, ready to do the work, and can be a team player, as well as an independent force. At worst, annoying, frustrating, becomes too critical, can get stuck in the details, is unable to see the bigger picture, or is unyielding to ways/ideas outside of their own because they want it when they want it, the way they want it.

Mars in Virgo gets things done, period. They may have to do it their way, but it gets done as efficiently and effectively as analyzed by the detailed perception and tedious planning of the Virgo spirit. Mars in Virgo is a doer and tenacious which is ideal when partnered with the growing and strengthening cardinal energies building celestially. Uranus entered Aries last month, followed by Jupiter now also in Aries and their growing conjunction, culminating on June 8. Jupiter and Uranus in Aries are eager to get things moving. Mars and Saturn in Virgo ensure that practical steps, actions and decisions are well-played and are results/solutions-oriented. With three slower moving planets in retrograde, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron, we're also able to hone in on inner drives and have those reflect our external actions, if necessary or applicable.

On the day Mars enters Virgo, he immediately forms a frustrating link to both Jupiter and Uranus. It is a battle of wills with Arien energy bold and ready for action while Virgoan energy stands firm on movement with precision and purpose. In our individual lives, there may be a standstill with a superior, partner, stubborn child or, even, the self. Adjustment is key. Seek to understand another's point of view and discuss/reason in their 'language' as you also seek their understanding of your position. Virgo is a sign governed by Mercury, so communication is essential when relating to Mars in Virgo.

Those with their natal Mars in Virgo have their Mars Return this year. That's great news, especially with the cardinal t-square occurring in July. You can really make some headway with personal ventures. Astrologer, Celeste Teal, defines Mars Return as:

the beginning of a new cycle involving personal initiative and important new undertakings. Mars' return to its natal place occurs approximately every two years, and the time of the return will generally find one in the midst of assertive activity of one sort or another.
While in Virgo, Mars will align with the following celestial bodies (all dates reflect North America Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • June 7 ~ Mars quincunx Jupiter and Uranus. covered above
  • June 15 ~ Mars trine Pluto-rx. Actions determined. Poised for success. Ability to eliminate what's necessary efficiently. Doing the 'dirty work' required to get the job done.
  • July 26 ~ Mars quincunx Neptune-rx. Making decisions can be tough when there's confusion. Inability to make heads or tails about a situation. Refrain from major decision-making until a few days, if possible. If not, make a list of all that's entailed/entangled within the issue, study it then seek the counsel of a trusted friend/colleague for an alternate point of view.
  • July 29 ~ Mars quincunx Chiron-rx. Acting out because you've been hurt or offended. Low tolerance for patience or anger. Easily aroused into an argument. Disagreements easily escalating to something that's taken personally, even if there is no reason to. Judgements clouded.

For me, as a Virgo-rising, I welcome the planet of action in my natal 1st house to get his aid in getting things done! As a Cancer-Sun, he'll be cruising through my solar 3rd house of thought and communication to help me with my action plan.
