Changing blog service provider

Hello friends and potential friends :)

I am slowly moving my astrology blog out of blogger and into tumblr. My blog url remains the same astrogrrl.com, but the look and feel is different.

During the move, apologies to my email subscribers if you received an email over the weekend of new astrology posts. They, in fact, are old rss feeds of previous blog posts on blogger. Last year, I used the tumblr account to auto-post and link to articles written on blogger. When I changed rss url on feedburner, it pulled these old articles into one email that was sent to my email subscribers. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Hopefully, this is the only hiccup experienced as I get settled into tumblr.

Blessings,
Jan

New Moon in Taurus ~ April 21, 2012

Taurus © bezfaery

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Taurus qualities (determined, practical, devoted, grounded, dependable) and 2nd house themes (material security, values, self-worth). On a spiritual/higher plane, the Moon in Taurus seeks inner peace through stability and contentment. Taurus is natively ruled by Venus.

This Taurus-New Moon (blending of heart & soul) is happily aligned to Neptune in Pisces, enhancing sensitivities, spirituality, creativity, and our sense of universal connection. At best, this energy gives strength through faith, insight by going within, and inspired creations. At worst, getting lost in the illusion.

Neptune governs all things unseen, and especially in Pisces, may not fare very well in the tangible world. Taurus, on the other hand, is all about the physical realm. Taurus brings stability, grounding and a sense of reality to the Moon. The merging of inspiration and reality/spirituality and practicality offers a new moon phase full of possibilities that can turn into realities.

The new moon occurs at 2° of Taurus. Those born within 3 days of April 21 or October 25; or have planets/house angles around 2° of fixed signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon sextiles both my Sun and North Node and as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 8th house (endings/debt); as a Cancer-Sun, my solar 11th house (friendships). I will always welcome a renewal in my house of debt :) and of course, I can never have too many friends!

Full Moon in Libra ~ April 6, 2012

Scales via Tattoo Donkey

Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon in Aries which encouraged us to not only make a change, but also to have a plan and be smart about the actions we take. This full moon illuminates upon the balance between the identity of the individual self with the shared self (who I am and who I am with another) -- being in relationships without losing our identity and/or being brave enough to be in relationships without compromising our own core values.

The Full Moon in Libra occurs at 18° on April 6th at 12:19 p.m. Pacific / 3:19 p.m. Eastern. Those born within 3 days of April 6 or October 10 or with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 18° of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

Elsewhere in the sky, retrograde-Mars (motivation/action), Venus (relationships/finances), Neptune (dreams/sacrifice) and the North Node (life path) are all locked in an intense mutable grand cross. In previous posts, I explained a grand cross as the combination of (at least) four squares and (at least) two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. It is conflict, war between two (or more) celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies. This full moon phase can be one filled with insight (Neptune) about the true state of our relationships or finances (Venus) which may trigger aggression/determination/action (Mars) that help ultimately result in a change in our life direction (North Node). However, with Neptune, there is a thin line between insight and illusion; recognizing truth and escapism; vision and delusion; intuition and denial. Whether this Libra-full moon proves to be a help or a fruitless difficult experience is really quite up to you.

For me, this Full Moon opposes my natal Moon (heart/emotional core) and squares my natal Mars, triggering the mutual reception (give and take energy) and square (tense/aggressive energy) between my natal Cancer-Mars and Aries-Moon; and falls in my natal 1st house of the self/will (as a Virgo-rising) and solar 4th house of family/feelings (as a Cancer-Sun). Transiting Uranus continues to square my natal Sun while opposing my natal Uranus, forming a cardinal square which shoves my natal Sun up against a wall that aid in causing a very trying day to day for me!

New Moon in Aries ~ March 22, 2012

Tribal Zodiac-Aries © MagpieVon via deviantART

Spring already! Say buh-bye to winter (for us above the equator anyway :) It's a new moon in Aries on March 22nd at 7:37 a.m. Pacific / 10:37 a.m. Eastern. New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Aries qualities (enterprising, independent, confident, assertive) and 1st house themes (the self, our potential, conscious will).

Aries is natively ruled by Mars(action/aggression), who is currently retrograde (reflective/contemplative) in sign of Virgo (analytical/deliberate). In Aries, the Moon is raw, passionate, instinctive, impatient and ready for action...movement. The year's Aries-New Moon (blending of heart & soul) joins forces with retrograde-Mercury (communication/thought) and Uranus (radical change/unconventionality).

The Aquarius-new moon in January gave us the opportunity to get unstuck with its friendly link to Jupiter (expansion/opportunities). Last month's Pisces-new moon reminded us that the answer/changes we seek may be found or started from within. This month's New Moon in Aries offers us a new moon phase for smart changes (Mercury) and well-planned action items (Mars) that follow the objectives set forth by a longer term set of goals to give us the much needed/wanted relief or changes (Uranus) in our personal world.

Is it a big move? A career change? A lifestyle change? Finally breaking free from an unhealthy situation? However this new moon plays out in your world, remember that you have the power to change the course of your life and that clarity, more often than not, resides within the self. Learn to listen to your inner voice. Make use of celestial energies to benefit your personal growth. It won't be easy...for anything worthwhile is usually gained through work, determination and sometimes, a little luck :) And with Uranus involved, expect the unexpected -- help from the most unusual sources, unique solutions even for the most common issues, brilliant ideas that seem totally "out there", inspiration when there seems none to have ...

This new moon occurs at 3° of Aries, which is around the same degree as the Aquarius-new moon a couple of months back. Those born within 3 days of March 23 or September 25; or have planets/house angles around 3° of cardinal signs; and those who palpably experienced the Aquarius-new moon's energy in January may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon squares my natal Sun (potential/will) and opposes my natal Uranus (eagerness for change); and falls in my natal 7th house of others/relationships (as a Virgo-rising) and solar 10th house of career/future goals (as a Cancer-Sun). Transiting Uranus is also currently square my Sun and oppose my Uranus, creating an intense cardinal square that squeezes my Sun :( which, btw, I am totally feeling! Something has needed to change for quite sometime. It's getting to that critical point where push becomes a shove. Let's see how this unfolds ...

New Moon in Pisces ~ February 21, 2012

Lunation © António Cidadão via APOD

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Pisces qualities (imagination, compassion, enlightenment, sacrifice) and 12th house themes (secrets, subconscious, addictions, institutions). In Pisces, the Moon is intuitive, spiritual, insightful, hopeful and attuned to the energies beyond the physical and mental realms.

Pisces is natively ruled by Neptune, who is settling in her home sign of Pisces, after having come home earlier this month. The Pisces-New Moon (blending of heart & soul) cozies up with Neptune. Will this be a new moon phase filled with insight or confusion? Will clarity reveal that which has eluded you or will the fog make it more difficult to see what's right there in front of you? Pisces is the third water sign of the zodiac. Its sensitivity to the what's unseen but just as true is where the magic lives. It's where illusions turn into insight and intuition proves to be spot on.

With Mercury also in the sign of Pisces, the truth or clarity you seek may be more challenging to determine if logic and reason are what you're relying upon. The heart sometimes knows what the conscious mind has yet to understand or get even an inkling of.

Elsewhere in the sky, retrograde-Mars (action/drive) continues to retrace his steps from the past couple of months, as retrograde-Saturn (reality/work) hangs around the last degree of Libra while somewhat aligned to Neptune (dreams/hope). Perhaps, this new moon phase might take you back to the end of last year/beginning of this year...and events/issues/people encountered now are reminiscent of that period.

However this new moon plays out in your world, remember that the answer is often found within the self. Getting past the noise or distractions and becoming attuned with one's self, one's core, one's heart may be worth the journey and effort.

This new moon occurs at 3° of Pisces. Those born within 3 days of February 21st or August 25th; or have planets/house angles around 3° of mutable signs may feel the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon trines my natal Sun (soul/potential), conjuncts my natal North Node (life path) and falls in my natal 6th house (work/health). I spent much of last year running myself down. I spending this year, so far, regaining balance between life, work, family, living, fun, health :) This new moon phase fits very well with my goal of having a different type of "routine" ... one that revolves around a healthier lifestyle -- physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and psychologically.

Full Moon in Leo ~ February 7, 2012

The waxing moon grows full in the bold, courageous, and magnanimous sign of Leo. Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon in Aquarius which encouraged us to dream big, get out of a rut, and get unstuck. This Full Moon in Leo wonders whether we are brave enough to follow through on our intentions/objectives and dares us to be courageous enough to walk the talk.

We're already into the second month of the year. How have we fared so far with our good intentions of making this a different year than previous years? If you started off the year taking steps toward achieving resolutions, then you're well on your way, especially if you've successfully integrated changes into your everyday. Kudos!

But then again, maybe you're like me ... I do really well a week at a time but only every other week :) Life, work, friends, family ... still doing our best with the balancing act and injecting personal improvements when the opportunity arise. Is this effort good enough though? In the immediate, maybe. In the longer term, however, it will only work if we learn to create the opportunities, make the time, put the self higher up on the list of priorities.

During this full moon phase, put an end to the excuses (even if they are good ones :). Be like Nike and just do it! You can make this the year that you envisioned it to be.

This full moon happens on February 7th at 1:53 p.m. PST / 4:53 p.m. EST and at 19° of Leo. Those born within 3 days of February 7th or August 10th or with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 19° of fixed signs may experience the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

For me, this Leo-Full Moon trines my natal Moon and squares my natal Saturn; as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 11th house (friendships/associations) and as a Cancer-Sun, falls in my solar 2nd house (income/possessions). What may be well with my heart (trine to my Moon) may not necessarily be what works, what's right or what should be (square to my Saturn). Or perhaps, what I truly desire presently is just not possible for now. But then again, I may get I wish for only to find out that the reality of it may be more than I bargained for :) With the 2nd house in play, I'll keep the spending minimal.

New Moon in Aquarius ~ January 22/23, 2012

An airplane in front of the moon © Chris Thomas

New Moons signify rebirth, beginnings, a clean slate, the start of a new cycle. This new moon highlights Aquarius qualities (inventive, independent thinking, unconventional, individual growth/evolution) and 11th house themes (friendships, group relations, relation to humanity as a whole). In Aquarius, the Moon is eccentric, unpredictable, fun, friendly, a risk-taker, and a humanitarian.

The Aquarius-New Moon (blending of heart & soul) squares Jupiter (opportunities), encouraging us to dream big ... but be mindful of actually taking steps towards making those dreams happen. Elsewhere in the sky, Saturn (reality) and Neptune (imagination) are harmoniously aligned, while Mercury (thought) and Mars (action) are also linked in a friendly way. This combination of energies may just give us the balance necessary between dreaming and doing, wishing and acting, planning and committing to the work. If you're feeling stuck, the Aquarius-New Moon phase can help get you started with getting unstuck.

This new moon occurs at 3° of Aquarius. Those born within 3 days of January 22nd or July 25th; or have planets/house angles around 3° of fixed signs may experience the effects of this new moon stronger than most.

For me, this New Moon trines my Uranus (change from the norm) and as a Virgo-rising, falls on my natal 5th house (creative projects) and as a Cancer-Sun, falls on my solar 8th house (finances). After my trip to Quito last fall, I decided that I should learn some Spanish. Now that the holidays are over and with the new moon touching my Uranus, instead of slowly settling back into my everyday norm, I'll change it up a bit by adding some Spanish study time :) This weekend, I plan to tackle getting my taxes done (or at least manageable) so, that fits quite well with the new moon in my solar 8th, too.

Full Moon in Cancer ~ January 8/9, 2012

Parthenon Moon by Anthony Ayiomamitis via APOD

Parthenon Moon © Anthony Ayiomamitis

Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous new moon in Capricorn which might have shown us underlying truths, whether we wanted to know or were to find out about. This Full Moon in Cancer encourages us to do something about it, whatever "it" might be for each of our situations. Make a choice. Take action. Find closure/release.

The Moon is at home in Cancer and shines a spotlight on our family life, inner sanctum and emotional self. The Cancer-Moon (inner self) seeks balance with the Capricorn-Sun (external drives) while also making a friendly connection with Mars (motivation). In Cancer, the Moon is emotionally-driven and is motivated by considering the needs of others, especially family. There might be a tendency for protection -- keeping the family safe/secure or self-protection from hurt/disappointment. With Mars also going retrograde before month's end, events/issues surrounding this full moon may resurface around this time again next month. However, this full moon might play out in your world, let your actions (Mars) reflect your heart (Moon) and soul (Sun).

This Full Moon occurs at 19 degrees of Cancer on January 8th (11:30 p.m. Pacific) / January 9th (2:30 a.m. Eastern). Those born within 3 days of January 8 and June 9 or with natal planets and/or house angles on or around 19 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.

For me, this Full Moon forms a cardinal t-square (challenging energy) with my natal moon, is conjunct (blends energies) my natal Mars, and as a Cancer-Sun, falls in my solar 1st house (self/potential) and as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 10th house (future plans). Perhaps it's time to stop fighting against what in my heart, I know, is true and must be done. Make time. Make it happen. It might not be easy, but what worthwhile thing does not involve sweat and commitment, right?

Hello friends and potential friends :)

Every year I wonder how the previous year seemed to have come and gone ever so quickly! It's no different this time around. Well, it's been a long while since I've posted. I hope to change that this year. I'm starting small. A post for each of the new and full moons monthly ... starting with the full moon in Cancer on January 8th/9th.

Thank you for all the emails, comments, feedback, light and love that you've sent my way over the past several months. They are much appreciated and apologies for those of you I have yet to send a reply to. I have missed you all and missed writing, as well.

Cheers to a wonderful new year. Many blessings.

Light and love,
Jan
