Uranus Retrograde ~ July 9 to December 9/10, 2011

Farewell shot of crescent Uranus as Voyager 2 departs. ©NASA

Uranus stations on July 9th to join Chiron, Neptune, and Pluto in retrograde motion. Uranus is retrograde until December 9 (Pacific Time) / December 10 (Eastern Time). While retrograde, Uranus retraces his steps from 4° 34' all the back to 0° 39' of Aries.

As with any retrograde planet, our focus turn inward. Uranus represents the idealist, reformist, and non-conformist in all of us who seek to improve the established and antiquated for the innovative and progressive that are more suitable for present-day situations. Uranus is the awakener of the zodiac ... stirring the pot ... rocking the boat. When he decides something needs change, he will do so, radically, shockingly, and at any cost -- a revolution or even chaos.

While Uranus is retrograde, allow your rebellious inner child to run free, think without boundaries, and conceptualize original ideas that bring you closer to achieving your objectives. In Aries, Uranus is a trailblazer and is assertive in communicating one's ideas and pushing for one's objectives. At best, engaging, a leader, entrepreneurial, creative, independent and impassioned. At worst, callous, abrasive, selfish, opinionated and non-committal.

Uranus is a slow moving planet, covering approximately 4° to 5° annually, takes about 7 years to transit one zodiac sign, and its global influence is unequivocal. While Uranus was in Aquarius (innovation) from 1996 to 2003, we watched technological advancements reach new heights -- the internet; mobile phones becoming smaller, lighter, and packed with more features; the iPod :) With Uranus in Pisces (interconnectedness) from 2003 to 2011, there was greater exposure and acceptance on new levels of consciousness/understanding. Some results included in alternative forms of healing/spiritual practices becoming more mainstream; the rise of more socially responsible and humanitarian websites/services, encouraging us to make an impact with a click of a button; the popularity of social networking sites that help bridge geographical distances and cultural differences. Although these examples are generalizations, they help illustrate the societal/global influence of Uranus transits.

On a personal level, Uranus is like a rebellious inner child that resides in all of us -- seeking freedom, protecting the unique individual, brainstorming ideas on how to create and implement the changes required for forward movement. When Uranus is retrograde, the focus/energy of this rebellious inner child turn inward. How do I attain/re-attain the personal freedom I seek/I've lost? How do I gain/regain my individuality? How do I exact the changes necessary to move me closer to my goals?

For me, as a Cancer-Sun, this retrograde falls in my solar 10th house of professional pursuits and future goals; and Virgo-rising, influences my natal 8th house of finances and personal transformation while Uranus actually transits my 7th house of partnerships.

How might Uranus' retrograde motion influence your world? Look to the solar house governed by Aries or if you have your natal chart, look at where 0° 39' to 4° 34' of Aries falls in your chart. This is the area Uranus will cover during his retrograde period. Plus, those who have natal planets or house angles at 0° to 5° of Aries back may get more of workout during Uranus' retrograde cycle.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets 0° to 5° of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available personal consultations tailored to your needs. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Schedule your session for a 12-Month Transit Chart , a Solar Return (birthdays), or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You might also want to consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.

Uranus Square Pluto ~ 2012 to 2015

Supernova rainbow explosion via HD Wallpapers

On March 2011, Uranus re-entered Aries where he'll stay until mid-2018, briefly visit Taurus, then return to Aries again late 2018, and finally leave Aries early 2019. During the first few years of Uranus' transit in Aries, Uranus will be locked in a rare, forceful, and tense energy of a square with Pluto from 2012 to 2015.

Uranus first ventured into Aries for a few months on May to August 2010. During that brief period, he got tangled up in that year's Cardinal Grand Cross (the first of which involved an eclipsed full moon in Capricorn) and Cardinal T-square (which involved Saturn in Libra, Jupiter in Aries & Pluto in Capricorn). Some of us may still be experiencing the effects of this last year's t-square. Hopefully, the changes that coincided with that period last year have been positive changes/major breakthroughs, despite whatever difficulties, challenges, heart breaks, or breakdowns we may have had to go through.

Then, around the time when this post was written from June 19 until July 17 (2011), Uranus and Pluto became involved in an alignment once again. This time they were actually within orb of their square (the tighter the orb, the stronger the influence). This short period may give us a preview of what their alignment might bring our attention to. The recent eclipses throughout June and into early July may have already brought intensity that's full of the unexpected and/or the immediate. The additional fierce energy of this square might have been (might still be) too much for some of us to handle. Those with Suns and risings in the early degrees of the cardinal signs (particularly 4° to 6°) may unavoidably feel the forceful nature of this growing Uranus-Pluto square, especially if there are other progressions and transits to the birth chart that may be reinforcing the Uranus-Pluto square's energy plus the recent eclipses.

For Gemini-Sagittarius Suns & risings (2010 to 2013); Taurus-Scorpio Suns & risings (2012 to 2015); and Aries-Libra Suns & risings (2013 to 2015), the eclipses in your sign plus the Uranus-Pluto square may feed into each other and add more strength/depth to the already powerful energy of the eclipses in your sign! Don't panic. Breathe. Become centered. See the bigger picture just as equally as the details. Assess. Plan. Act.

A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two or more planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between at least two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something that's birthed from inside of us and then to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment, or something that influences many. Depending on where the square falls in our birth chart, changes/challenges/conflict may relate to our career (10th house), physical health (6th house), finances (2nd/8th houses), home/family (4th house), relationships (7th house), children (5th house), friendships (11th house), etc.

We'll be under the umbrella of Uranus square Pluto for much of 2012 to 2015, their square will perfect - twice for each year in 2012, 2013 & 2014, and once in 2015. Here are the periods when Uranus square Pluto will be at its strongest:
  • June 19, 2011 to July 17, 2011 ~ within orb but will not perfect
  • May 16, 2012 to October 29, 2012 ~ perfect on June 24 (at 8° & 23') and September 18 (at 6° & 57') - interesting that these dates falls within days of my birthday (June 27) and my sister's (Sept. 14) ... hmm ...
  • April 17, 2013 to June 28, 2013 ~ perfect on May 20 (at 11° & 14')
  • September 21, 2013 to December 12, 2013 ~ perfect on November 1 (at 9° & 25')
  • March 12, 2014 to May 24, 2014 ~ perfect on April 21 (at 13° & 33')
  • November 4, 2014 to April 25, 2015 ~ perfect on December 14, 2014 (at 12° & 35') and March 16, 2015 (at 15° & 17')
  • December 18, 2015 to March 19, 2016 ~ within orb but will not perfect
For me as a Cancer-Sun, the Uranus-Pluto square impacts my solar 10th & 7th houses (career/future goals vs. relationships/partnerships); and as a Virgo-rising, my natal 8th & 5th houses (debt/transformation vs. fun/creative self-expression).

How might this square manifest in your world? Look to the solar and natal houses that are governed by Aries and Capricorn; then, see if there are any natal planets/house angles that will be triggered by the square. That should be a good start at gaining some insight.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles on or around any of the above mention degrees within cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available personal consultations tailored to your needs. Are you celebrating a birthday? Or know someone who is? Schedule your session for a 12-Month Transit Chart , a Solar Return (birthdays), or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Uranus Re-enters Aries ~ March 11, 2011 to 2018/2019

Uranus va National Geographic

Uranus leaves Pisces for good and joins Jupiter and Mercury in transiting Aries on March 11th. Uranus began his transit in Pisces in 2003. He first left Pisces for Aries last year and stayed for a few months in Aries before returning to Pisces. Now, Uranus re-enters Aries on March 11 at 4:49 p.m. PST / 7:49 p.m. EST, where he remains until 2018/2019. He will not return to Pisces again for another 84 years, approximately.

As written on my original Uranus in Aries post:

Uranus is the awakener, the mover and shaker of the zodiac. His goal is change/improvement for the masses at any cost, even at the cost of chaos or a revolution. Uranus represents humanitarianism, unconventionality, unpredictability, indifference, freedom, technological advancements, and loyalty to its cause. Uranus' energy is radical, disruptive, rebellious, revolutionary, and innovative.

Aries is the trailblazer of the zodiac. Aries energy is bold, individualistic, independent, enterprising and can be impulsive, pushy, abrasive, and bossy. It's an impatient energy that needs to constantly be in a dynamic state -- gotta be moving, gotta be doing, gotta be making things happen. Aries represents the self, the ego, our volition, our potential.

Uranus in Aries is the period for asserting the self, its needs and wants. It is a time for breaking away from dependence and finding one's own strength for self-reliance and self-motivation. I am independent. I am strong. I am significant. I matter. I can do it. I can make it happen. I can get it started. I can because I am. This is a time for discovering or re-discovering and connecting or re-connecting with the self and its raw, passionate, instinctive drives to be the main motivator in formulating goals and getting them accomplished. Remember that Uranus governs the unexpected so, be flexible enough to expect the unexpected -- find opportunities in the least likely places or connections; formulate unique solutions to common or existing problems; tweak an old method and make it more effective; break away from boundaries and think outside the box.

Last year when Uranus transited Aries from May to August 2010, Uranus became an active participant of the Cardinal T-Square between Jupiter/Uranus in Aries opposing Saturn in Libra, while all three were square Pluto in Capricorn. Some of us may still be personally going through the effects of this t-square. This year, an equally tense celestial climate surrounds Uranus' re-entrance into Aries.

As of the writing of this post, we remain under the challenging alignment between Jupiter in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn which finally culminated on February 25th and full impact may not actually be realized for several more months, maybe years. Jupiter gives the optimism to push for ideals/aspirations; Aries gives the courage and strength to push fast and hard; Pluto purges and focuses on putting an end to what no longer serves; Capricorn represents the status quo. Domestic and global current events reflect the unrest of this Jupiter-Pluto square. Expect the unexpected globally and in our own personal world as Uranus' revolutionary energy gets mixed into the current celestial climate.

Uranus' transit in Aries brings another rare but long lasting planetary alignment - Uranus square Pluto. Their alignment will perfect on occasions - 2x each in 2012, 2013 & 2014, and once in 2015. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two or more planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many.

Although we are all influenced by Uranus' transit in Aries, the intensity and degree of influence will fluctuate throughout the 7-year transit and the timing will also depend on our birth chart's planetary and house placements. Additionally, those with cardinal Sun signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn); those with Natal Uranus in Cancer (born approximately 1949 to 1956) or in Libra (born approximately 1968 to 1975) or in Capricorn (born approximately 1988 to 1996); and those with Chiron in Aries (born approximately 1969 to 1977) may feel the effects more strongly than others.

To get an idea of how Uranus' transit in Aries might influence you, look to the Aries-ruled natal and/or solar house/s of your birth chart. Match the sign with the house cusp/s on your birth chart. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the Aries zodiac sign on your birth chart.

Cast your own birth chart at alabe.com if you don't already have it -- birth date, time, and place required. Alternatively, I am also available for personal consultations.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus in Pisces ~ January 4, 2011

Pisces - credit & copyright to HeavenlyBlue

And so it happens again, for the third and final time, Jupiter (opportunities/ideals) and Uranus (radical change/unconventionality) perfect their conjunction (blending of energies). This time, both planets are moving direct and are meeting at 27 degrees of Pisces. Their last meeting was on September 18, 2010, while both were retrograde. Prior to that, Jupiter and Uranus shook things up on June 8, 2010 when they first joined forces in the enterprising sign of Aries.

Although, their first/second meetings happened mid-to-late 2010, the complete impact of their collaboration might not actually be fully experienced for several more months, and maybe even years, for some. What was happening in your external or personal world around those time periods? Jupiter and Uranus are offering us another chance at making a go of things or of continuing what we may have begun, and perhaps this time, applying a slower, more intuitive approach.

Reinforcing the energies of this Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is the supercharged New Moon Solar Eclipse that occurs a mere few hours before. Eclipses, in astrology, are accelerators. They speed up events, issues, situations in our personal lives and demand for them to be dealt with. This eclipsed new moon happens in the disciplined sign of the achiever, Capricorn, at 14 degrees. The energy of an eclipse have an influence of up to six months, giving this first half of the year possibilities for miracles -- personal or otherwise; little ones or biggies; subtle or bold.

Also getting in on the action is Venus (relationships/finances) who links up with Neptune (insight/spirituality), Chiron (wounds/healing), Jupiter and Uranus, as she spends her last days in Scorpio. We are being dared to dream (Jupiter-Uranus conjunction) and double dared to actually realize those dreams through hard work and dedication (Capricorn-Solar Eclipse), as well as a little faith (Jupiter-Uranus conjunction with Venus links to Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus).

As written in previous posts:Jupiter represents good luck, joy, expansion, opportunities, higher education, and personal growth through our interests, experience and spirituality. He also governs publishing, travel, foreigners and exposure to other cultures. At best, Jupiter brings a wealth of knowledge, understanding, growth, opportunities, as well as financial gains. At worst, overindulgent, excessive, wasteful and unable to get past "dreaming" of the possibilities.

Uranus' energy is radical, disruptive, rebellious and innovative.

Pisces is imaginative, creative, receptive and peace-loving. Pisces governs mysticism, spirituality, intuition, dreams, psychic abilities, compassion, sacrificial love, escapism, drug/substance abuse, phobias and mental problems. At best, Pisces is spiritually/psychically attune to the inner-workings within the "unseen" world and able to apply this awareness in the "seen" world. At worst, deluded, diffident and incapable of functioning in the physical realm.

With regards to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, my only word of caution is -- keep in mind that this Jupiter-Uranus energy is happening in the sign of Pisces. It's one thing to gain insight and grounding through the optimism and overall good feeling their growing conjunction might bring. It's quite another to become attached to this 'good feeling' and give in to avoidance or total escape. Allow Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces to help you find your center again but don't 'check out'. Continue to 'show up' every moment of each day.

Their conjunction in Pisces offers us the chance to delve deep within the part of us that we may not tap into often enough, so we can become aware of our hidden drives/motivations. In our becoming conscious of them, we're provided with a more complete picture. For those who are already spiritually attuned, enjoy this energy where intuitive abilities can be even more enhanced.

Those celebrating a birthday during these first 4 days of the new year could very well have an exciting, amazing year ahead! Those with natal planets/house angles in the last degrees of mutable and fixed signs; and around 14 degrees of cardinal signs may experience these celestial energies stronger, more powerful than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets/house planets in the degrees and signs I mentioned? Cast your own birth chart for use as reference -- birth date, time, and place required.

Is today your birthday or are you a Piscean born after March 17? Uranus Direct ~ December 5, 2010

Uranus 13 Rings via National Geographic

After five months of being in retrograde, Uranus stations direct on December 5th. Although Uranus' retrograde cycle began in Aries, he has since returned to Pisces where he'll remain only until March 11, 2011. So, this is his last few months transiting Pisces. After March, he won't revisit Pisces again for approximately 84 years.

As taken from previous posts:

Uranus is the awakener, the mover and shaker of the zodiac. His goal is change/improvement for the masses at any cost, even at the cost of chaos or a revolution. Uranus represents humanitarianism, unconventionality, unpredictability, indifference, freedom, technological advancements, and loyalty to its cause.

Since Uranus first entered Pisces (interconnectedness) in 2003, we've seen a surge of social networking sites, making the world a little smaller by allowing us to connect with one another as if the other person is next door (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter) and an increase in socially responsible and humanitarian causes websites/services, offering the chance to make an impact through a click of a button (Kiva.org, Care2.com, Intent.com). These are generalizations, but mentioned to illustrate the societal/global influence of Uranus' transit.

On a personal level, Uranus is like a rebellious inner child that resides in all of us -- seeking freedom, protecting the unique individual, brainstorming ideas on how to create and implement the changes required for forward movement.
During the next months, as Uranus goes over his final steps in Pisces, let's find the best way to express Piscean ideals (before Uranus' re-enters Aries for the next 7 years) -- interconnectedness, enlightenment, gentleness, intuition, sensitivity, compassion, insightful, transcendence, and being spiritually awakened. Everything in moderation, however. Keep in mind that with Pisces, there is a fine line between illusion and delusion, insight and deceit, love and sacrifice.

For much of December, Jupiter and Uranus will make their way through Pisces side by side. Their meeting culminates early in January before Jupiter makes his final exit from Pisces later in that month. For much of December and January, events or situations from around May/June 2010 may be revisited or may seem reminiscent to that period, as Jupiter and Uranus relive their time together over the same degrees in Pisces. If this is true for your situation, use this energy now to finish what may have been left hanging or maybe muster up whatever faith might be needed to jump over whatever hurdle is before you...this hurdle may be linked to decisions made/actions taken in May/June of this year. Be open and aware, their energy may also manifest by enlightening upon what's been unclear or uncovering what's been hidden.

With Mercury retrograde (introspective) for much of December, the end of the year makes for an ideal period of reflection and planning. Together, Mercury retrograde and this Jupiter-Uranus energy plus the Lunar/Solar Eclipses (December 21/January 4, respectively), December could be a month that helps get 2011 off to a more purposeful start to new year. Incidentally, Jupiter and Uranus also have their last conjunction in Pisces happening on January 4, 2011.

As previously mentioned in my original post back in May, My only word of caution is -- keep in mind that this Jupiter-Uranus energy is happening in the sign of Pisces. Continue to 'show up' every moment of each day.On the day Uranus ends his retrograde cycle, Mercury conjuncts Pluto, giving us a focused mind to penetrate through whatever might be hiding the truth we seek; and the New Moon in Sagittarius will have just occurred a few hours earlier, offering us a renewal through expanding our horizon/shifting our perception/learning through experience.

Pisceans and Virgos born late in their signs, late-decan Pisces and Virgo risings and those with natal planets/house angles within 28-29 degrees of mutable or water signs; or between 0-1 degree of cardinal signs may easily recognize the effects of this energy more strongly than others.

How might Uranus' transit impact your life? Look to the house governed by Pisces or if you have your natal chart, look at where Pisces at 26 degrees falls in your chart. This is the area Uranus is currently transiting. Unsure if you have natal planets/house angles between 26 degrees of Pisces and zero degree of Aries? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for personal astrology consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. Jupiter-rx Conjunct Uranus-rx ~ September 18, 2010

Pisces via Wallpapers

Once again, the planet of opportunities, Jupiter, meet up with the planet of radical change, Uranus. This time, they may be more contemplative with a more universal, transcendent approach as they blend energies in the enlightened sign of Pisces. Their first meeting occurred a few months earlier on June 8 and in the bold, enterprising sign of Aries. Prior to their June 8 meeting, Jupiter and Uranus walked side by side, late May, while they were both in the last degrees of Pisces before each of their eventual initial entrance into Aries (Uranus on May 27 and Jupiter on June 6). Their closeness in May finally gets its completion on September 18, while both are retrograde; then, they will conjunct once more in Pisces next year on January 4, 2011.

As taken from previous posts:

Jupiter represents good luck, joy, expansion, opportunities, higher education, and personal growth through our interests, experience and spirituality.

As retrograde Jupiter and Uranus retrace their steps in Pisces, issues/events from this past May or June might resurface around this period of mid to late September. It's a chance to look over things. Perhaps, whatever was missing then is available now or blockages then are lifted now or what was ignored/avoided must/should now be faced. The key is to view whatever may be recurring as a chance to improve, conclude, release, or gain insight from this time around.

My friend Suzi (@starcana on Twitter) tweeted it best:
Jupiter rx in #Pisces ~ Recognize the light you have within yourself & you'll never have to walk in the dark again.
On the day Jupiter and Uranus perfect their union, both are also in opposition to the Sun (conscious will). In becoming aware of our what motivates our semi-conscious impulses, we're able to consciously decide whether there's a place for them in our external world.

An additional note: Lunar Eclipse on December 21, 2010 is at 29 degrees of fellow mutable sign Gemini, giving those with natal planets/house angles on or around 29 degrees of mutable signs another big celestial nudge :) Eclipses, in astrology, trigger necessary changes to one's journey in life.

For me, this conjunction trines my natal Neptune (insight/spirituality) in my 3rd house (thought) and opposes my Ascendant (my potential) while squaring my IC (the past) and Midheaven (the future); and as a Virgo-rising, falls in my natal 7th house (partnerships) and as a Cancer-Sun, in my solar 9th house (personal growth). The timing for this conjunction touching my birth chart the way it does seems to:
Simply put, as I get acclimated to how life has changed this year so far, there are still BIG changes ahead for me. All necessary. Some a long time coming. Others occur outside my control. Ready or not ... here it comes. A big key is getting a sense of "the bigger picture" by reaching within (Piscean energy), which my Virgo-rising can sometimes have difficulty with. There are still old thought patterns/habits (IC) that I need to get rid of because they keep me from going forward (Midheaven) and achieving more of my potential (Ascendant).

How might this Jupiter-Uranus conjunction influence you? Look to the house where 29 degrees of Pisces falls in and whether you have natal planets or house angles within 29 degrees of mutable signs or at Aries Point of cardinal signs. You may cast your own birth chart here, if you don't have yours handy -- birth date, time and place required.

Alternatively, I am available for a personal consultations. Are you celebrating a birthday? Uranus Returns to Pisces~Aug. 13, 2010-Mar. 11, 2011

Image credit & copyright to by Yeechi Chen via Elfwood.com

While in Aries, Uranus began his retrograde cycle on July 5th, lasting until December 5th. On August 13th, Uranus returns to Pisces until March 11, 2011, where he retraces his steps back to 26 degrees of Pisces. Upon leaving Pisces next March, he won't transit Pisces again for approximately another 84 years.

Taken from a previous post:

Uranus represents the idealist, reformist and non-conformist in all of us who seek to improve the established and antiquated for the innovative and progressive that are more suitable for present-day situations. Uranus is the awakener of the zodiac ... stirring the pot ... rocking the boat. When he decides something needs change, he will do so, radically, shockingly, and at any cost -- a revolution or even chaos.

Since Uranus entered Pisces (interconnectedness), we've seen a surge of social networking sites, making the world a little smaller by allowing us to connect with one another as if the other person is next door (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter) and an increase in socially responsible and humanitarian causes websites/services, offering the chance to make an impact through a click of a button (Kiva.org, Care2.com, Intent.com).

When Uranus is retrograde, the focus/energy of this rebellious inner child turn inward. How do I attain/retain the personal freedom I seek/I've lost? How do I gain/regain my individuality? How do I exact the changes necessary to move me closer to my goals?

With this Uranus retrograde, allow your rebellious inner child to run free, think without boundaries, and conceptualize original ideas that bring you closer to achieving your objectives. In Pisces, Uranus' genius is expressed through Piscean traits. At best, Pisces is gentle, intuitive, sensitive, compassionate, insightful, and visionary. At worst, Pisces is confused and lost in its own imaginative world. With Pisces, there is a fine line between illusion and delusion, insight and deceit, love and sacrifice.

For much of this year, Jupiter has remained close to Uranus and, at times, even trailed right behind him. This continues through to early 2011. Jupiter, who is also currently retrograde, will return to Pisces next month on September 9. Jupiter is the bringer of hope, benefits, happiness and opportunities. On September 18, a conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus perfects in Pisces at 29 degrees; then again on January 4, 2011 at 27 degrees in Pisces. Prior to these upcoming meetings, Jupiter and Uranus blended energies at Aries Point in Aries on June 8.

Around December 2010 to January 2011, Uranus and Jupiter will come ever so close to a conjunction again, in a similar way they fed off each other's energy this past May. While Jupiter and Uranus walk through Pisces side by side, they will also each be in a tight semi-sextile with Neptune. Although their alignments to Neptune do not perfect, they do get close enough to make an impact. Jupiter represents our ideals and opportunities. Neptune symbolizes our spirituality and enlightenment. Together with Uranus, they awaken, enlighten, excite and promote change and growth. On January 4, 2011, a third and final conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus perfects at 27 degrees in Pisces.

With Uranus and Neptune also in mutual reception, there should be an easier flow of energy with each other and what they each need to accomplish. This meeting (December 2010 to January 2011) may bring back memories/issues of when their semi-sextile perfected around October 2009. Some things/events may have brought understanding or perhaps the weight of a thing/person/situation's significance was made crystal clear back then. This "understanding" or seeing the depth of things may happen again during this upcoming Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune aspects. The timing for their alignments are indeed significant with a Solar Eclipse in Capricorn occurring on January 4, 2011.

Semi-sextiles are usually considered of minor importance by many astrologers. But I thought it might be worth a mention anyway, since this is a semi-sextile between two outer, slower moving planets that make a reprise of a previous perfected alignment plus, it also occurs during a Lunar Eclipse.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.

Cardinal Grand Cross ~ August 6/7, 2010

Image credit & copyright to Mike McDonaldThe Cardinal T-square has been in full force since Saturn (reality/hard work) returned to Libra on July 21st, then followed by Mars (aggression/action) entering Libra on July 29th, and soon Venus (relationships/worth) will join the cardinal party when she transits her home sign, Libra, beginning on August 6th. This cardinal t-square currently involves Saturn (and soon Venus) in Libra opposing Uranus and Jupiter in Aries; and all are putting an extreme amount of pressure against Pluto in Capricorn who may be having a difficult time catching his breath as he feels the squeeze. Those who are early-born December Capricorns or June Cancers (also, early degree Capricorn/Cancer risings) may feel this energy stronger than others.

As I've mentioned before, this cardinal energy climaxing now has been brewing since late May starting with Uranus' entrance in Aries and its influence is long term. This cardinal force's impact on us, as individuals and as people sharing a world together, will continue to unfold for months/years to come.

Now, adding to the strain of this Cardinal T-square to form a Cardinal Grand Cross is the Moon's (heart/inner drives) transit in her home sign of Cancer during the early degrees, just as Venus also begins her transit in fellow cardinal sign, Libra. This occurs around August 6 or 7 depending on where in the world you're located.

I've previously explained what a Grand Cross is on a post for the recent Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on June 26:

A Grand Cross is a combination of (at least) four squares and (at least) two oppositions. A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two (or more) celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Unlike a square where agreeing to disagree is sometimes the best solution that can be hoped for, an opposition can be satisfied by finding the harmony/balance between the two polarizing energies. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. With the addition of the Cancer-Moon and Libra-Venus in the mix, much of the focus during this first full week of August may involve our relationships (of all types including that which we have with the self), as well as our material and self worth. It may be time to take an honest look at our attachments, may they be with people, material things, ideologies, memories, old ways/methods, etc. Attachments that take an active part in our daily lives through the decisions we make or avoid having to make and actions we take or choose not to take. It's also an ideal time to become conscious/aware of that which we choose to bury beneath the surface for fear of what acknowledging it/them might mean. These are challenging times regardless of whether we choose to live consciously or on auto-pilot. Wouldn't it be better to take control of the life we lead by grabbing the wheel, working with the energies, achieving personal goals and growing as individuals?

A New Moon in Leo occurs on Monday, August 9, just a few days after this cardinal grand cross. This Leo-New Moon phase is a great period renewals ... beginnings. Work through what you must, what the tense celestial energies are urging you to; then, use the New Moon phase to help with initiating what's to be done or what's next or whatever/wherever in your life you could use a clean slate.

For me as a Cancer-Sun at 5 degrees, transiting Pluto has been playing tug of war with my Sun all year and will continue to do so through to next year. With Pluto being the focal point of this cardinal t-square, by extension, my Sun also feels a little beat up. The Cancer-Moon in this cardinal grand cross gets cozy with my Sun. Will this blending of heart (Moon) and soul (Sun) help clarify what's been eluding me, identify what's needs pinpointing and/or soften/lighten the strain of this celestial influence against my birth chart? We'll see...

In addition to Capricorns & Cancers born within the first 4 degrees or those with Ascendants within the early degrees, Cardinal Suns/Risings plus those with natal planets/house angles between zero & 4 degrees of cardinal signs are sure to feel the energy of this cardinal t-square and cardinal grand cross stronger than others.

Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Cardinal T-Square w/ Saturn, Jupiter/Uranus & Pluto

Spark by Ethan via deviantart.com
For months, I've spoken of this cardinal t-square. It finally culminates in these last days of July through to August, following Saturn's return to cardinal sign, Libra and quickly opposing Uranus and Jupiter in fellow cardinal sign, Aries. All three are in a fight or flight conflict with Pluto in Capricorn, another cardinal sign, and feeling like he's shoved up against a wall with no other recourse but to push back.

This is the energy of the cardinal t-square that has been building up for months now -- a tense, do or die, tug of war between Saturn (reality/hard work), Pluto (elimination/transformation), Uranus (awakening/revolution) and Jupiter (ideals/opportunities). During the last days of July, Mars (aggression/action) joins in on the fun as he enters Libra, blends energies with Saturn and mimics the alignments Saturn makes (opposing Jupiter and Uranus while also square Pluto). And in early August, Venus (relationships/money) also enters Libra and makes the same alignments Mars will have just made with the main T-square players. This is all happening between zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs -- Aries, Libra and Capricorn. Those with natal planets or house angles within zero and 4 degrees of cardinal signs experience the strain of this cardinal t-square much stronger and undeniable than others. Then on the 21st, Saturn and Pluto complete their series of challenging squares, continuing to fuel the cardinal t-square's fire.

This energy is active, dynamic and impatient. It's easy to leap without looking or take action driven by frustration/anger which are not the ideal ways to manage this energy. It can also make some buckle under the pressure and choose inaction or avoidance. Decisions or actions taken now (or not taken due to fear or laziness) have longer term effects and full impact will continue to unfold for months, maybe years to come, depending on how this cardinal t-square influences your birth chart. Measured steps and well thought out actions motivated by the goal of achieving objectives would serve us all better. While this energy has been strengthening, there should have been something within each of us that was stirred and demanded to be recognized because some things needed to change. If you have been ignoring it or had not realized the scope of its importance, now is the time to bring that issue closer to the top of your priority list. Make time to deal with it. This cardinal t-square demands action, whether it's your doing or not. It's ideal to the one initiating the changes/work to be done instead of one that's reacting to whatever is happening in your world. There are situations that will be beyond our control so, it's best to take the initiative when we can.

For me, as a cardinal Cancer-Sun, this t-square is all over my house angles (4th=the past/roots/family; 7th=partnerships/relationships; 10th=the future/goals/career). Together with eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, plus transiting Pluto's lingering opposition to my Sun and Neptune square my Neptune, 2010, to date, has been super challenging personally and professionally. This second half of the year will prove to be even more of a challenge but, in the bigger scope of things, this is kind of a turning point for me ... an ending in many ways but a beginning in even more ways. It's difficult, a little scary, sometimes confusing and can be stressful. But it's also always proven to be rewarding. I make sure to celebrate my successes because I do give myself a hard time for the mistakes along the way.

How might this cardinal t-square manifest in your world? Look to the astrological houses where zero to 4 degrees of Aries, Libra and Capricorn fall in your birth chart. Unsure if you have natal planets or house angles within zero to 4 degrees of cardinal signs? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time and place required.

Are you celebrating a birthday under these tense celestial skies? Schedule your session for a Solar Return (birthdays) or 3-Chart Reading (detailed natal & overall outlook for the next 12 months) or request a quote for a more customized reading tailored to your needs. You can also give a loved one the gift of insight.

Saturn Oppose Uranus at Aries Point ~ July 26, 2010

Saturn returns to the relationships sign, Libra, on July 21 and while at Aries Point opposes Uranus, who is also at Aries Point in Aries. Their opposition perfects on July 26 and is the final installment of a series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions which first culminated on November 4, 2008, then again on February 5 and September 15, 2009, and followed by April 26, 2010. Whatever may have begun or initiated, as early as 2008, culminates during this last meeting between Saturn (old) and Uranus (new), two polarizing energies that seeks balance between getting rid of the old and adopting the new.

This time, however, the element surrounding their challenging alignment is cardinal energy and at Aries Point. Cardinal signs take action; their energy leads, creates and initiates. Here, esteemed astrologer, Celeste Teal, explains the term "Aries Point":

The true Aries Point degree is 0 Aries, however, the 0 degree of the four Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are all referred to as Aries Point degrees. This beginning degree of the Cardinal signs has similar connotations to the angles of a chart and is an indicator of eventful times when occupied by a planet or found on a house cusp. These points are indicative of a spectacular out rush of energies. There is frequently an involvement with the world at large. Outsiders or those who’re considered an expert in some area becomes involved in one’s personal matters. Ramifications of events often have a domino effect into each personal area of the life as represented by these four Cardinal points: personal, family, relationships and status. This is Saturn's third pass through Libra at Aries Point. Previous dates include last year on October 29 to November 8, 2009 and earlier this year from March 26 to April 7, 2010. Perhaps, third time's a charm. Should you find unresolved issues or events from either or both those periods recurring in your world while Saturn is at zero degree of Libra again (this time from July 21 to August 2, 2010), don't despair but do take action. You are most likely being offered a chance to finally repair or resolve the situation. This could also be a time when you're able to reflect upon that period and see how far you've come...a final look back, maybe. However, Saturn's return to Libra at Aries Point may manifest in your world, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus is about giving up the old and obsolete for the new and applicable with the ultimate goal of improvement for the majority.

In Libra, Saturn's focus is on relationships ~ with others, another or even the self. Saturn shows us the reality of our situation, no matter how painfully difficult it is to see the truth. It is our job to face such truths and accept our reality in our most sober state. In Aries, Uranus' focus is on the self ~ becoming conscious of its potential, being driven to achieve. Uranus is the awakener and, once 'awakened', is unstoppable from forging ahead making changes ... even at any cost. Where in your life have you been asleep? or running on auto-pilot? What in your life are you ready to break away from? to revolutionize?

This Saturn-Uranus opposition is part of a greater force occurring this period. Since May with Uranus and Jupiter collaborating together, then each leaving Pisces to enter Aries and finally perfecting their alliance early June, cardinal forces have been gaining momentum and intensifying the impatient, sometimes frustrated, energy surrounding us. The Lunar Eclipse/Grand Cross late June released a bit of that tension. Now, this opposition between Saturn and Uranus takes part in a Cardinal T-square where Pluto in Capricorn is the focal point, creating a sense of being pushed up against a wall and forced to make a move ... any movement, in any direction, just to lighten the forceful tension (cardinal t-square article to follow). In a previous post, I described a Cardinal T-Square as: A square is the most difficult and challenging relationship between two planets. It is an impatient energy that requires action. A square is conflict, war between two celestial bodies. There is a need to create something birthed from inside us and to manifest that creation out into the world -- may it be in your own personal world, your immediate environment or something that influences many. A t-square embodies the energy of two squares plus an opposition. An opposition is a tense relationship between planets that require balance. Add cardinal to the mix -- cardinal signs take action; they lead, create and initiate. So, the combined energy of a cardinal t-square makes for something that's impatient, dynamic and eager to do something...anything.
Whatever changes (in our external world, within our emotional state, spiritual realm or psychological plane) may be necessary can now be definitively decided upon and acted upon. Steps taken while under this active cardinal energy have lasting effects and full impact may continue to manifest for months, even years, to come. The key is awareness of truth (Uranus), commitment to make the changes for improvement (Saturn), balance between the old but still useful and the new that replaces what's antiquated (opposition) and action/doing what needs to be done (t-square).

Although we are all recipients of what this energy has to offer, early-born cardinal signs may experience this energy stronger than others. Also, those with natal Saturn at zero degree in Libra may get an extra dose of this energy, for they will also be going through their Saturn Return. And those celebrating their birthday in July, especially after July 21st, are in for an amazing, challenging personal year ahead, as their Solar Return occurs at the height of this Cardinal T-square energy.

Look to the astrological house/s where zero degree of Libra and Aries fall in your natal and/or solar charts to get an idea of where in your life this opposition's energy may manifest in. Don't have your natal chart handy? Cast your own birth chart -- birth date, time, and place required.

Alternatively, I am also available for customized readings tailored to your needs. Request a quote. Are you celebrating a birthday? Schedule a session for a Solar Return, Saturn Return or 3-Chart Package Reading. Or you might consider giving a loved one the gift of insight.
