Venus in Libra ~ October 14 to November 8, 2009

Bookmark and Share

Venus comes home, joining Mercury in the objective and peaceable Libra. Venus governs love, relationships of all types, our values/value system, and worth (both self-worth & material worth). In Libra, Venus is social, friendly, logical, and fair-minded. At best, Venus in Libra is balanced, elegant, affectionate, popular, and has an artful eye for the aesthetic beauty in things. At worst, indecisive, narcissistic, bossy, vain, gives in too often, and an intellectual or social snob.

Venus' transit in Libra highlights the relationships in our lives -- spouse, lovers, friendships, acquaintances, family, colleagues, superiors, etc. While Venus is in Libra, we are reminded that putting another's needs before our own or seeing another's point of view do not diminish our own needs or opinions. It simply redefines our priorities to include another or offers us a more complete picture of the situation.

Elsewhere in the sky on the day Venus enters Libra, Jupiter stations direct and gets his bearing to move forward again. Opportunities that fell through, work begun but slowed or halted due to obstacles, and delayed financial rewards or compensation are all examples of what Jupiter's direct movement means for us.

Venus enters Libra on October 14 at 6:46 p.m. Eastern, where she remains until November 8. While she is in Libra, she will make connections with the following celestial bodies on (all dates reflect Eastern time zone; give +/-2 days for life span of influence):
  • October 15 ~ Venus square Pluto. Power play. Manipulations. Arguments for the sake of arguing. Rebuff Pluto's need to keep poking an open wound or picking at a scab. Agree to disagree and move on.
  • October 28 ~ Venus trine Jupiter. Happy, happy, joy, joy. The only concern for today is excessiveness. So, shoppers, beware of impulse buying or overspending. Party goers, watch the alcohol consumption :) Today, Jupiter revisits the period on or around September 27. What may have been unresolved may find closure now or situations that may have ended prematurely may get a second look.
  • October 31 ~ Venus trine Chiron. Be of service to someone who genuinely needs the help. Champion a cause. Make a difference. Repair relationships. Mend broken hearts.
  • November 2 ~ Venus quincunx Uranus and trine Neptune. Sudden change of heart. Yield to intuition when logic and reason fail to provide clarity or insight. Humanitarian efforts.

What significance do planets, signs, and houses have in astrology? Planets have the function, the job to do. The style/manner they will use get that job done is defined by the zodiac sign they occupy. Where in our life the job gets done is determined by the house the planet occupies/transits. So, when Mars (aggression) is in Aries (bold), he is more assertive than when he is in Cancer (sensitive). When traveling through the 10th house (professional life), he may bring his confidence and motivation in matters relating to our career. While in the 11th house (friendships), we may be more inclined to having our social calendar packed with activities. Having the foresight for what may be coming up or receiving confirmation on what may be happening now are ways astrology can be beneficial ... as above, so below.
